Recent buildings are complicated and tends to be connected each other and even underground spaces. Although the risk of disaster is increasing, it does not provide training or induction refuge. In this paper, we propose evacuation induction system using directional speaker, for providing persons in danger with useful information on the disaster situation and to evacuate people effectively as an accurate and rapid evacuation guidance.

For construction projects it is imperative that site management gives the highest priority to planning safe site evacuation for all foreseeable emergencies, including earthquakes and typhoons which are often experienced in Japan. This is especially important and even more critical for high risk projects involving underground works, such as Tunneling & Pneumatic Caissons. Based on the safety regulation of underground works, a back-up power supply system must be provided during the construction period at all times. Often, fluorescent lamps with re-chargeable batteries are provided for infrequent emergency cases, however these have a questionable useable life span and thus need careful maintenance and periodical replacement. In this paper we focused on using the phosphorescence materials to indicate the evacuation direction. As a result, it was confirmed that the phosphorescence materials were considered useful in reducing panic and facilitating a controlled evacuation in the event of a total black-out due to power failure.
This thesis is based on the study of necessity of an addressable emergency broadcasting system to improve evacuation performance in order to minimize human casualty by avoiding the initial evacuation after fires such as the multi-unit dwelling fire in Euijeongbu in 2015. To minimize the damage from fire generated in a complex internal structure such as modern buildings, introduction of adaptable emergency broadcasting system, could increase the efficiency of evacuation by preventing of initial mistaken evacuation directions by alerting the accurate location of fire to the occupants, is needed. As such, this study designed and fabricated the addressable emergency broadcasting system using the existing addressable system. Its performance was compared with a conventional emergency broadcasting system to confirm the necessity of the addressable emergency broadcasting system to improve evacuation performance. The test result showed that the addressable emergency broadcasting system decreased the evacuation time by up to 30.3% in a small-scale model evacuation performance experiment, up to 54.6% in a hallway evacuation performance experiment compared to the conventional emergency broadcasting system.

Existing pedestrian and evacuation models generally seek to find locally optimal solutions for the shortest or the least time paths to exits from individual locations considering pedestrian's characteristics (eg. speed, direction, sex, age, weight and size). These models are not designed to produce globally optimal solutions that reduce the total evacuation time of the entire pedestrians in a building when all of them evacuate at the same time. In this study, we suggest a globally optimal model for indoor pedestrian evacuation to minimize the total evacuation time of occupants in a building considering different distributions of them. We used the genetic algorithm, one of meta-heuristic techniques because minimizing the total evacuation time can not be easily solved by polynomial expressions. We found near-optimal evacuation path and time by expressing varying pedestrians distributions using chromosomes and repeatedly filtering solutions. In order to express and experiment our suggested algorithm, we used CA(cellular automata)-based simulator and applied to different indoor distributions and presented the results.
This paper proposes a direction estimation scheme with directional speaker and smart device for evacuation guidance. When there is worst disaster environment filled with smoke and noisy sound, evacuee can not get any information about evacuation routes. The proposed scheme can be used for detecting evacuation routes with audible and inaudible signal from directional speaker. At this point, evacuee can get evacuee guidance by using smartphone application that the proposed scheme is applied. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by experiment with three different types of smart devices in large indoor environment. The purpose of experiment is to detect the direction of transmitted signal from directional speaker. Therefore, The experiment is conducted by analyzing the strength of transmitted signal by distance. The experimental results show that even if the smart device is located up to 20m away from the speaker, it is possible to detect the sending direction of the signal. We confirmed the possibility of the proposed technology in 8kHz and 20kHz signal detection by smart device.

Since subway fire disaster at Daegu, Korea smoke control system and passengers evacuation distance has been focused to reform. Existing smoke control facilities need to expand volume of ventilation capacity however, the complicate subway station structure can hardly react dispersion of smokes from massive subway cabin fire. Smoke flow at platform level move upward thought vertical stairway and passengers evacuation goes with same direction. The victims of evacuees from subway station fire mainly due to exposure of heat radiation and smoke. The study demonstration the effect of downward evacuates stairway system by separating evacuation route to smoke movement pass way including saving times of evacuation.

Quantitative risk assessment (QRA) of railway is to create a variety of scenario and to quantify the degree of risk by a result of the product of accident frequency and accident. Quantitative risk Assessment is affected by various factors such as tunnel specifications, characteristics of the fire, and relation of smoke control and evacuation direction. So in this study, it is conducted that how the way of smoke control and the relation of smoke control and evacuation direction affect quantitative risk assessment with variables (the tunnel length (2, 3, 4, 5, 6 km) and the slope (5, 15, 25‰)). As the result, in a train fire at the double track tunnel (Area = $97m^2$), it is most efficient to evacuate to the opposite direction of smoke control regardless of the location of train in train fire. In addition, under the same condition, index risk in mechanical ventilation up to 1/10.
The most urgent requirement in the event of disaster and fire in a skyscraper is to establish a system that enables people inside to evacuate safely. Hence, a practical direction needs to give evacuees confidence in the evacuation by reducing the psychological anxiety caused by the relatively large number of people inside and at the same time, the physically prolonged evacuation travel line. Evacuation tests with large numbers of people were conducted three times to solve these challenges and identify phenomena and issues that occurred during the experiment. The results revealed the factors that could cause a delay in evacuation and suggested improvements. The study results of this paper are as follows. First, a recent fire at a multipurpose high-rise resulted in a number of casualties due to a lack of experience with the disaster prevention system. To prevent such cases from occurring in advance, adaptability was achieved by conducting evacuation tests. Second, the data collected in the evacuation simulation statistics and the actual escape drills were compared and analyzed. Third, in the evacuation experiment, a large number of people could not participate in the experiment. The reasons for not participating were analyzed and their impact on the actual evacuation time was confirmed. Fourth, equipment aids were purchased to establish the optimal response measure to the causes of a delay in escape time and the standards for ensuring the safety of the evacuee were specified by developing improvements to minimize the evacuation delay time through comparative before and after analysis of the experiment. These results can be used for fire safety control of skyscrapers to improve the efficiency of evacuation.
In this study, compare and analyze for high-rise evacuation safety design criteria improvement about internal high-rise building egress safety rule. To the result, high-rise evacuation safety design criteria improvement data can be summarized as follows. First, should compute the evacuation capacity about the number of persons and when more than 2 exits are requested, over 50% of evacuation capacity must be satisfied even approaching to 1 exit is unable. Second, 2 ways of evacuation can be made smoothly by the stair or exit separation-distance standard regulation. Third, regulate the length limitation of dead-end corridor or passageway and it should give grades in limitation of whether the spring-cooler has been installed. Fourth, must secure the evacuation way and do the evacuee guidance when it's safety area and elevator or stair. Also needs to provide extra safety area to secure horizontal direction Escape Safety except fire escaping floor.
The effects of casting condition and hot melt glue during Lost Foam Casting were investigated on the fluidity of Al alloy melt. The fluidity increased linearly with increasing pouring temperature in thick castings but non-linearly in thin casting due to the difference in main heat flow direction. The metal flow velocity was in range of $0.5{\sim}2.7$ cm/s in no evacuation condition and the minimum value of it was measured after the melt flow through the hot melt barrier. The mold evacuation improved the metal flow velocity by around $0.5{\sim}1$ cm/s. And the reaction zone layer thickness was about 1 cm in no-evacuation conditions but about 0.6 cm in mold evacuation condition of 710 torr due to the easier removal of pyrolsis product of EPS. And hot melt barrier thickness of 0.6 mm increased the reaction zone layer thickness up to about 2.5 cm. The fluidity decreased remarkably with an enlarged thickness of hot melt due to a lot of pyrolysis products.
