The Address No.0 of Eco-friendly Architecture offers unique experience for those who visit the place to envisage the future architecture where nature, human and building exist in harmony. It is open to the general public including the students of elementary and secondary schools. This house has been built to provide opportunities for the general public to experience eco-friendly architecture. It's floor area is 42 pyung($140m^2$) and the overall site has the area of 180 pyung($600m^2$). The following illustrates some of its prominent features : ${\bullet}$ Remodeling of a traditional Korean residence ${\bullet}$ Application of passive solar systems ${\bullet}$ Use of clerestory windows and daylighting systems(washroom and machine room) ${\bullet}$ Operation of solar water heaters with flat plate collectors ${\bullet}$ Construction of Biotop(small ecological world) ${\bullet}$ Water circulation for Biotop by photovoltaic(150W) and wind power(400W) generation ${\bullet}$ Outdoor hot water supplied by all-glass evacuated solar tubes. Through this Address No.0 of Eco-friendly Architeture conclusions are as followings. 1. The array of tubes in collector has the best nice in that the number of tube is nine and the tilt angle is the latitude $+20^{\circ}$. 2. The thermal performance of the all-glass solar vacuum collector was excellent than of the flate-plate solar collector. 3. The adaption of new small wind power systems to buildings were proved to produce a profit if it is considered the expense of environment improvement and the wind speed increasing according to rise of building hight.
The sealing technique between a glass tube and a copper heat pipe in an evacuated tube solar collector is studied. In this study two different sealing techniques, such as flame method and furnace firing, are examined. After the sealing of a copper to a glass, the oxidation state of the copper and its bonding morphology were examined by SEM and XRD. Its oxidation was retarded by coating of borate solution on the copper, and $Cu_2O(cuprite)$ turned into CuO(tenorite) with increase in a firing temperature and firing time. Porous structure was found in the oxide layer when CuO formed. The best sealing morphology was observed when the thickness of the oxidation layer was less than $20{\mu}m$. The sealing technique performed in a furnace was promising and the satisfactory result was obtained when the sample was fired at $950^{\circ}C$ for 5 min under $N_2$ atmosphere. Annealing procedure is recommended to remove the stress left at the bonding zone.
To demonstrate the desalination system, the demo-plant was scheduled to be installed. The system was planned to use solar thermal collector as heat source and PV as electricity source. For the design of the desalination demonstration system, firstly the solar thermal system would be well designed from the result between the supplied heat into the fresh water generator and the fresh water yield. The generator for demonstration system was chosen as the fresh water generator of the single stage and effect with plate-type heat exchanger using low pressure evaporation method. The test facility for the tests to reveal the relationship between the fresh water yield and the supplied heat flow rate was designed and manufactured. The maximum fresh water yield of two fresh water generators applied in this study was designed as 1.5 Ton/day. The parameters relating with the performance of fresh water generator are known as sea water inlet temperature, hot water inlet temperature, and hot water flow rate. Through the experiments, this study firstly showed detail operation characteristics of the generator and designed the solar thermal system for the demonstration system.
Experimental study on the operating characteristics of a solar hybrid heat pump system according to indoor setting temperature were carried out during spring and winter season. The system was consisted of a concentric evacuated tube solar collector, heat medium tank, heat storage tank, and heat pump. As a result, the heating load was increased by 21.1% when the indoor setting temperature rose by 2oC for the same ambient temperature. Besides, the spring season had good outdoor conditions compared to the winter season, therefore the heating load was reduced and heat gain by collector increased, relatively. In case of the winter season, the solar fraction was shown less than 10% because the heat losses of system and space increased considerably. The solar fraction decreased significantly as the indoor setting temperature increased.

The performance of a solar water heater incorporating evacuated tubes was evaluated using a transient simulation program, TRNSYS. Simulations were performed for $60^{\circ}C$ of hot water load temperature and for 280 liter of daily hot water volumes and three 400 liter of storage tank volumes. Three patterns of daily hot water consumption profile were used in the present study (morning, lunch and evening). The results show that the increase in solar fraction depends on the load profile, as well as the collector efficiency coefficient. Hot water draw profile has a large effect on the performance of the SDHWS, the morning load profile has the highest solar fraction. The annual solar fraction of the system, at the weather conditions of Jinju is approximately 84% at lunch load pattern, the 280 kg of load volume, 400 kg of tank volume and the $60^{\circ}C$ of load temperature.
This study was carried out to evaluate thermal performance of the renewable hybrid heat supply system with solar thermal system and wood pellet boiler for Zero Carbon Green home of apartment houses. The hybrid heat supply system was set up at Korea Institute Energy Research in 2011. The system was comprised of the wood pellet boiler unit with heat capacity designed as 20,000 kacal/hr, a evacuated tubular solar collector 3.74 $m^2$ of aperture area at the $20^{\circ}$ install angle, a 0.3 $m^3$ hot water storage tank, a 0.15 $m^3$ hot water storage tank for space heating. Thermal performance tests for one-house of apartment house were carried out by hot water load and heating load in winter season through the hybrid heat supply system. As a result, hot water energy supplied by the hybrid heat supply system was 11kWh in a day. Solar thermal energy portion was 2.99kWh which is 27% of the total hot water energy supply. wood pellet boiler supply portion was 8.017kWh which is 73% of the total hot water energy supply.
The purpose of this study is to present the simulation results and an overview of the performance assessment of a solar heating & cooling system by means of the $200m^2$ evacuated tube solar collector. The simulation was carried out using the thermal simulation code TRNSYS with new model of a single-effect LiBr/$H_{2}O$ absorption chiller developed by this study. The calculation was performed for yearly long-term thermal performance and for two design factors: the solar hot water storage tank and the cold water storage tank. As a result, it was anticipated that the yearly mean system efficiency is 46.7% and the solar fraction for the heating, cooling and hot water supply are about 84.4 %, 41.7% and 72.4%, respectively.
