  • In this paper, we propose a robust detection scheme of OSTBCs with channel estimation errors over time-selective fading channels. Channel estimation errors are inevitable over time-selective fading channels and even small channel estimation errors dramatically degrade the performance of space-time block coding schemes. Therefore, it is desired to investigate the effect of channel estimation errors on the performance of the proposed detection scheme compared with the existing detection scheme. The proposed detection scheme minimizes noise enhancement and impact of channel estimation errors which occur in an existing detection scheme. It is shown by simulations that the proposed detection scheme performs better than the existing detection scheme over time-selective fading channels.

  • Bearing and frequency measurements of TMA (Target Motion Analysis) in passive line array SONAR have lower bearing rate and frequency doppler, and are not detected or tracked continuously because of various ocean environments. This is a main reason to effect the TMA performance and it takes a long time to get TMA solutions. We propose the bearing and frequency TMA(BFTMA) using accumulative batch estimation to solve the TMA problem of line array passive SONAR. The accumulative batch estimation structure is based on MLE (Maximum Likelihood Estimation) but used accumulative measurements. The accumulative batch estimation is applied for the BFTMA with nonlinear Kalman filter to estimate the target range, speed and course. Simulation and sea data analysis were carried out to verify the performance and applicability of the proposed techniques.

  • We propose a mechanical parameter estimation algorithm for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) using a sliding-mode observer (SMO) and an adaptive filter. The SMO estimates system disturbances in real time, which contain the information on mechanical parameters. A desirable feature that distinguishes the proposed estimation algorithm from other existing mechanical parameter estimators is that the adaptive filter estimates electromagnetic torque to improve the estimation performance. Moreover, the SMO acts as a low-pass filter to suppress the chattering effect, which enables the smooth output signals of the SMO. We verify the mechanical parameter estimation performance for SPMSM by conducting extensive experiments for the proposed algorithm.

  • The aim of study intends to investigate effect of All-out condition on physical balance, agility and power and to provide the base data for the safety of firefighter. The results of the study are as follows. For power estimation, the sargent jump is $41.0{\pm}3.2cm$ before estimation and $42.2{\pm}6.02cm$ after estimation as All-out condition. For static balance estimation, the closed-eyes foot balance is $40.3{\pm}36.8$sec before estimation and $27.5{\pm}27.18$sec after estimation. For dynamic balance estimation, the beam walking is $6.2{\pm}1.22$sec before estimation and $6.4{\pm}1.57$sec after estimation. The results are statistically significant. For agility estimation, the side step is $40.3{\pm}3.40$rep/20sec before estimation and $43.3{\pm}2.50$rep/20sec after estimation. The results are statistically significant. The wholebody reaction time is $0.21{\pm}0.05$sec before estimation and $0.18{\pm}0.02$sec after estimation.

  • Effect of variable factors on carbon emissions in construction industry is hard to analysis. Therefore this study analyzies effect of variable factors on carbon emissions. This study shows importance of variable factors and emphasizes need of estimation of carbon emissions considering variable factors.

  • In this study an experiment was made using the function of computer simulation os to whether the phenomenon of optical illusion takes place also in clothing on the human body three-dimensional space through the case study of the Gestalt illusion of planar con-traction and expension by amodal completion in perceptual organization. One woman of latter 30s was selected as the experimental subject. She was made to wear the experimental clothing and then the frontal picture was projected of in the experimental clothing which was scanned into the com-puter. For the sake of the contractive experiment 5 stages were divided by 5-15cm the thick-nes of the black vertical line in the center of the upper garmet as the variable and for the sake of the expansive experiment the skirt length was set as the variable. It length measured 50-90cm which was divided by 10cm into 5 stages and simulated using the CAD. The basic design and the experimental de-sign were made one pair and the pictures totalled 20 pictures such as ten pictures save the human body for the estimation of the up-per garmet alone and ten pictures for the ob-servation of the effect on the human body. The extimating panel consisting of 20 panellers estimated contraction/expansion in the estimation of the upper garmet and the tall effect/the slim effect in the estimation of optical illusion as the estimating factors on the 9-point scale. All the date from experiment were analyzed by ANOVA(analysis of variance) and DUNCAN'S multiple range. As a result the experimental designs all showed a significant optical illusion in comparision with the basic design.

  • Existence of Gibbs' phenomenon has been well known in wavelet expansions. But the estimation of its size is another problem. Because of the oscillation of wavelets, it is not easy to estimate the Gibbs size of wavelet expansions. For wavelets defined via Fourier transforms, we give a new formula to calculate the size of overshoot. But using this we compute the size of Gibbs effect for Barttle-Lemarier wavelets.

  • This paper deals with the effect of siliceous slurry coatings on mortar microstructure under a damp environment. For estimation on effect of siliceous slurry coating, microstructure of coated mortar was observed through SEM. Crystal production in mivrosturcture of coated mortar was periodically increased, and more produced in mortar of high water-cement ratios. And they were generated mainly in mortar ranging from the surface to the inside about 2.5 or 3mm deep.

  • This paper considers the cointegrating vector estimator in the error correction model with stationary covariates, which combines the stationary vector autoregressive model and the nonstationary error correction model. The cointegrating vector estimator is shown to follow the locally asymptotically mixed normal distribution. The variance of the estimator depends on the covariate effect of stationary regressors, and the asymptotic efficiency improves as the magnitude of the covariate effect increases. An economic application of the money demand equation is provided.

  • In this study, we try to find out the effect of private companies' environmental protection activities on the labor demand of companies in Korea manufacturing industries with empirical practice from 1992 to 2002. One of the main difficulties in this empirical work is to identify the effect of environmental protection activities on the labor demand, because the effect can be mixed with the effect of traditional production technologies on the labor demand. We follow the suggestion of Morgenstern et al. (2002) to identify the effect but which is not enough because of endogeneity between the production technology improvement and pollution reduction. So we propose a Fixed-effect Instrumental Variable estimation method as an estimation strategy. The estimation results support the positive relationship between the labor demand increase and the increase in pollution abatement costs. Therefore, we can conclude that the environmental protection activites of Korea manufacturing industries from 1992 to 2002 can help job creation without making a big burden for business activities when we consider the share of pollution abatement costs among total production costs is around 1% during that time.
