In this paper, efficient implementation of error correction code (ECC) processing circuits based on single error correction and double error detection (SEC-DED) code with check bit pre-computation is proposed for memories. During the write operation of memory, check bit pre-computation eliminates the overall bits computation required to detect a double error, thereby reducing the complexity of the ECC processing circuits. In order to implement the ECC processing circuits using the check bit pre-computation more efficiently, the proper SEC-DED codes are proposed. The H-matrix of the proposed SEC-DED code is the same as that of the odd-weight-column code during the write operation and is designed by replacing 0's with 1's at the last row of the H-matrix of the odd-weight-column code during the read operation. When compared with a conventional implementation utilizing the odd-weight- column code, the implementation based on the proposed SEC-DED code with check bit pre-computation achieves reductions in the number of gates, latency, and power consumption of the ECC processing circuits by up to 9.3%, 18.4%, and 14.1% for 64 data bits in a word.

An embedded sensor is significantly influenced by its spatial environment, such as barriers or distance, through low power and signal strength. Due to these causes, noise data frequently occur in an embedded sensor. Because the information acquired from the embedded sensor exists in a time series, it is hard to detect an error which continuously takes place in the time series information on a realtime basis. In this paper, we proposes an error detection method based on time-series prediction that detects error signals of embedded sensors in real time in consideration of the physical characteristics of embedded devices. The error detection method based on time-series prediction proposed in this paper determines errors in generated embedded device signals using a stable distance function. When detecting errors by monitoring signals from an embedded device, the stable distance function can detect error signals effectively by applying error weight to the latest signals. When detecting errors by monitoring signals from an embedded device, the stable distance function can detect error signals effectively by applying error weight to the latest signals.
In this paper, the problem of determining the optimal time to market of software was studied using error correction time, an indicator of error correction difficulty. In particular, it was intended to modify the assumption that error detection time and correction time are independent in the software reliability growth model considering the existing error correction time, and to establish a general framework model that expresses the correlation between error detection time and correction time to determine when the software will be released. The results showed that it was important from an economic perspective to detect errors that took time to correct early in the test. It was concluded that it was very important to analyze the correlation between error detection time and error correction time in determining when to release the optimal software.

In this study, an adapted Turbo Coding Algorithm for reducing communication error of a fire detection system for marine vessels, especially image transmission via power lone. Because it is necessary that this system communicate larger and faster than previous method, this study carried out enhancement a decoding speed by adaptation CRC with Turbo Code Algorithm, improvement of metric method, and reduction of decoding delay by using of Center-to-Top method. And the results are as follows: (1) Confirmed that a Turbo Code is so useful methods for reducing communication error in lots of noise environments. (2)Proposed technology in this study speed increasing method of Turbo Coding Algorithm proves 2 times faster than normal Turbo Code and communication error reducing as well in the board made by VHDL software & chips ALTERA company.

This study was to analyze the difference in pilot error by using the Signal Detection Theory. The task was to detect the targeted aircraft(signal) which is different shape from many other aircraft(noise). From the two experiments, we differentiated the task difficulty followed by change in noise stimuli. Experiment 1 was to search the signal stimuli(fighter plane) while the noise stimuli(cargo plane) were increasing. The results from the Experiment 1 showed the tendency to decrease the hit rate by increasing the number of noise stimuli. However, the false alarm rate was not increased. The sensitivity(d') showed quite high. In Experiment 2, a disturbance stimulus(helicopter) was added to noise stimuli. The result was generally similar to those of Experiment 1. However, the hit rate was lower than that of Experiment 1.

As the feature sizes and the operating charges continue to be scaled down, multi-bit soft errors are becoming more critical in SRAM designs of a few nanometers. In this paper, we propose an efficient error detection technique to reduce the size of parity bits by applying a 2D bit-interleaving technique to 3D bit-partitioned SRAM devices. Our proposed bit-interleaving technique uses only 1/K (where K is the number of dies) parity bits, compared with conventional bit-interleaving structures. Our simulation results show that 1/K parity bits are needed with only a 0.024-0.036% detection error increased over that of the existing bit-interleaving method. It is also possible for our technique to improve the burst error coverage, by adding more parity bits.

The residue number system offers the possibility of high-speed operation and error detection/correction because of the separability of arithmetic operations on each digit. A compact residue arithmetic module named the self-checking pulse-train residue arithmetic circuit is effectively employed as the basic module, and an efficient error detection/correction algorithm in which error detection is performed in each basic module and error correction is performed based on the parallelism of residue arithmetic is also employed. In this case, the error correcting circuit is imposed in series to non-redundant system. This design method has an advantage of compact hardware. Following the proposed method, a 2nd-order recursive fault-tolerant digital filter is practically implemented, and its fault-tolerant ability is proved by noise injection testing.

Although laser interferometer measurement system has the advantage of range and accuracy, the traditional error measurement methods for geometric errors(two straightness and three angular errors) of a machine tool measures error components one at a time. It may also create an optical path difference and affect the measurement accuracy. In order to identify and compensate for geometric error of a moving body, an on-line measurement system for simultaneous detection of the five error components of a moving axis is required. An on-line measurement system with 5 degrees of freedom was developed for geometric error detection. Performance verification of the system was performed on an error generating mechanism. Experimental results show the feasibility of this system for identifying geometric errors of a side of machine tool.

In this paper, we analyze the error performance of SIC-based signal detection methods in MIMO systems. Considered detection methods are SIC signal detection and LR-SIC signal detection. We derive BLER performance of the methods and the performance is confirmed by computer simulations.
Any system has the possibility of an error occurrence. Even if trivial errors were occurred, the original system would be fatally affected by the occurring errors. Accordingly, the error detection must be demanded. In this paper, we developed a real-time error detection system would be able to apply to an electronic Jacquard system. A Jacquard is a machine, which controls warps while weaving textiles, for manufacturing patterned cloth. There are two types of mechanical and electronic Jacquard. An electronic Jacquard is better than a mechanical Jacquard in view of the productivity and realizability for weaving various cloths. Recent weaving industry is growing up increasingly due to the electronic Jacquard. But, the problem of wrong weaving from error data exists in the electronic Jacquard. In this research, a real-time error detection system for an electronic Jacquard is developed for detecting errors in an electronic Jacquard in real-time. The real-time system is constructed using PC-based embedded system architecture. The system detects the occurring errors in real-time by storing 1344 data transferred in serial from an electronic Jacquard into memory, and then by comparing synchronously 1344 data stored into memory with 1344 data in a design file before the next data would be transferred to the Jacquard for weaving. The information of detected errors are monitored to the screen and stored into a file in real-time as the outputs of the system. In this research, we solve the problem of wrong weaving through checking the weaving data and detecting the occurred errors of an electronic Jacquard in real-time.
