  • This paper presents a algorithm to improve accuracy and reliability in state estimation of contaminated bad data. The conventional algorithms for detection of bad data confront the problems of excessive memory requirements and long computation time. In order to overcome measurement compensation approach is proposed to reduce computation time and partitioned measurement error model has the advantage of remarkable reduction in computation time and memory requirements in estimated error computation. The proposed algorithm has been tested for IEEE sample systems, which shows its applicability to on-line power systems.

  • This paper discusses the errors associated with electric field cross talk for optical voltage sensors in a three-phase electric system and provides a solution to compensate the errors. For many practical conductor configurations, the electric field cross talk may cause errors unacceptable for the accuracy requirements of the sensors. We devised a real time compensation method for the cross talk and built an electronic circuits based on it. The mechanism of the compensation and the corresponding error reduction were discussed.

  • In this paper, a interpolation error concealment algorithm of motion compensated interpolated frame for motion compensated frame rate conversion to reduce the block artifacts caused by failure of conventional motion estimation based on block matching algorithm is proposed. Experimental results show good performance of the proposed scheme with significant reduction of the block artifacts.

  • This paper presented a adaptation approach based on maximum model distance (MMD) method. This method shares the same framework as they are used for training speech recognizers with abundant training data. The MMD method could adapt to all the models with or without adaptation data. If large amount of adaptation data is available, these methods could gradually approximate the speaker-dependent ones. The approach is evaluated through the phoneme recognition task on the TIMIT corpus. On the speaker adaptation experiments, up to 65.55% phoneme error reduction is achieved. The MMD could reduce phoneme error by 16.91% even when ...

  • This paper reports that the Lambert W function applies to a non-iterative design of minimum mean square-error scalar quantizers for a Laplacian source. The contribution of the paper is in the reduction of the time needed for the design and the increased accuracy in resulting quantization points and thresholds, because the algorithm is non-iterative and the Lambert W function can be evaluated as accurately as desired.

  • A technique that uses linear prediction to achieve noise reduction in a voice signal which has been mixed with an ambient noise (Signal to Noise (S-N) ratio = about 0dB) is proposed. This noise reduction method which is based on the linear prediction estimates the voice spectrum while ignoring the spectrum of the noise. The performance of the noise reduction method is first examined using the transversal linear predictor filter. However, with this method there is deterioration in the tone quality of the predicted voice due to the low level of the S-N ratio. An additional processing circuit is then proposed so as to adjust the noise reduction circuit with an aim of improving the problem of tone deterioration. Next, we consider a practical application where the effects of round on errors arising from fixed-point computation has to be minimized. This minimization is achieved by using the lattice predictor filter which in comparison to the transversal type, is Down to be less sensitive to the round-off error associated with finite word length operations. Finally, we consider a practical application where noise reduction is necessary. In this noise reduction method, both the voice spectrum and the actual noise spectrum are estimated. Noise reduction is achieved by using the linear predictor filter which includes the control of the predictor filter coefficient’s update.

  • This paper presents an offset error compensation algorithm for the accurate phase angle of the grid voltage in single-phase grid-connected inverters. The offset error generated from the grid voltage measurement process cause the fundamental harmonic component with grid frequency in the synchronous reference frame phase lock loop (PLL). As a result, the grid angle is distorted and the power quality in power systems is degraded. In addition, the dq-axis currents in the synchronous reference frame and phase current have the dc component, first and second order ripples compared with the grid frequency under the distorted grid angle. In this paper, the effects of the offset and scaling errors are analyzed based on the synchronous reference frame PLL. Particularly, the offset error can be estimated from the integrator output of the synchronous reference frame PLL and compensated by using proportional-integral controller. Moreover, the RMS (Root Mean Square) function is proposed to detect the offset error component. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment results.

  • This paper describes an efficient error-compensation technique for designing a low-error truncated Booth multiplier that receives two N-bit numbers and produces an N-bit product by eliminating the N least-significant bits. Applying the proposed method, a truncated Booth multiplier for area-efficient and low-power applications has been designed, and its performance (truncation error, area) was analyzed. Since the truncated Booth multiplier omits about half the partial product generators and adders, it has an area reduction by about 35%~40%, compared with non-truncated parallel multipliers. Error analysis shows that the proposed approach reduces the average truncation error by approximately 30%~40%, compared with conventional methods.
