  • This paper estimates line constants of equivalent five-conductors model using the reduced equivalent method. Actually, the catenary system is considered by the equivalent five-conductors model in the electrical aspect. Therefore, we should compose the catenary system of the equivalent five-conductors model, then the line constants of this equivalent five-conductors model are calculated. This paper shows the reducing process about the real system of the field by using the proposed theory. Also the line constants of reduced system are provided in this paper.

  • It is very difficult to execute the vibration analysis of a huge strucutre, which takes up much time and expense. In this paper we intend to make the equivalent system of a local vibration system of a huge structure with a view to improving the dynamic characteristics and reducing time and expense. First of all, upper deck structure model is maded. And we perform the vibration analysis by the Substructure Synthesis Method and execute the exciting test for the upper deck structure model, and observe the coincidences of two results to confirm the reliability of the analyzing tools used. To make the equivalent system, we give boundary condition to sub-structure that want to be modified and execute the Sensitivity Analysis Method and the Optimum Structural Modification Method. And we execute the structural modification of the equivalent system.. The following can be found from this study. 1. The analytical results are generally coincident with each other. 2. The equivalent system of the superstructure model can be easily obtained using the sensitivity analysis metho and the optimum structural modification method. 3. The structural modification using the equivalent system can be obtained good results above 90% of object value.

  • A new equivalent linearization technique is proposed for a friction damper-brace system (FDBS) idealized as a elastoplastic system. The equivalent linearization technique utilizes secant stiffness and dissipated energy defined by the probability distribution of the extremal displacement of the FDBS. In addition, a conversion scheme is proposed so that an equivalent linear system is designed first and converted to the FDBS. For comparative study, an existing model update technique based on system identification is modified in a form appropriate to update single element. For the purpose of verification, shaking table tests of a small scale three-story shear building model, in which a rotational FDBS is installed, are conducted and equivalent linear systems are obtained using the proposed technique and the model update technique. Complex eigenvalue analysis is conducted for those equivalent linear systems, and the natural frequencies and modal damping ratios are compared with those obtained from system identification. Additionally, RMS and peak responses obtained from time history analysis of the equivalent linear systems are compared with measured ones.

  • The dynamics of train has recently been analysed in many cases and very complex nonlinear creep theories have been developed by many engineers. But much calculation time is spent and latest complex creep theories cannot be adapted in train analysis. In this study efficient and fast train analysis method was suggested. Many of degree of freedom were reduced in multi-vehicle system using equivalent system and fast calculation time was achieved. And the accuracy of equivalent system method was proved by linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis.

  • The dynamic analysis of a train system has tended to analyze one vehicle or subsystem of that rather than to analyze entire vehicles. But, the speeding and lightening of a train requires more accurate analysis. Thus, the analysis of entire vehicles is required but it spends much time. Therefore, it is needed to find out the new analytic method which is more accurate and efficient. This paper suggests a new method for analyzing a multi-vehicle system more efficiently, using‘mechanical impedance’At first, get the impedance of vehicles which influence the dynamics of the object car, through analyzing the dynamics of a vehicle. ‘Equivalent system’, a simple mechanical system, of which the impedance is similar to that ,is proposed. Then, the equivalent system was applied to a vehicle and it showed that the equivalent system works like a real vehicle system. Finally, we tried non-linear analysis of a vehicle to which the equivalent system is applied.

  • In this paper, a new time-domain reduction method for unbalanced 3 phase power systems will be represented. The impulse response of the system is used to identify a discrete-time equivalent filter model. The model is formulated directly in the phase domain. Each phase has a self-mode equivalent model and two mutual-mode equivalent models. The equivalent model is determined by the transfer function identification technique based on the Prony analysis. The model is implemented in EMTDC and tested with an unbalanced 3 phase network. The result of test showed that the equivalent model is accurate.

  • For the real-time power system analysis, there exists a limitation to the scale of the system to be simulated, hence it is necessary for the real-time simulation to develop reduced equivalent systems which preserve the desired property of the original system. In this paper, a procedure for developing an equivalent system whose scale is reduced within the hardware capacity of a real-time simulator is proposed. Also, the proposed procedure is applied to a KEPCO's system. The comparison between the original system and equivalent systems illustrates the capabilities of the proposed procedure.

  • To evaluate the seismic performance of multistory building structures use an equivalent SDOF model. This paper presents a method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model. The principal objective of this investigation is to evaluate appropriateness of converting method through perform nonlinear time history analysis of a multistory building structures and an equivalent SDOF model. The hysteresis rules to be used an equivalent SDOF model is obtained from the pushover analysis. The conclusion of this study is following; A method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model through the nonlinear time history response analysis is valid. The representative lateral displacement of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames is close to the height of the first modal participation vector $_1$$\beta$$_1$u}=1. It can be found that the hysteresis rule of an equivalent SDOF model have influence on the time history response. Therefore, it is necessary for selecting hysteresis rules to consider hysteresis characteristics of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames.

  • This paper describes an equivalent circuit modeling of 4-port connector system. A coupled transmission line was designed and fabricated, mimicking a 4-port connector system, and then S-parameters were measured using 4 port VNA (Vector Network Analyzer). The S-parameters from measurement and from Full-wave simulator coincided quite nice. By using these S parameters, an equivalent circuit parameters for a 4-port system was obtained. The time domain response from the equivalent circuit model matched to the signals, which was measured using TDR(Time Domain Reflectometry) meter. We were also convinced that there should be enough bandwidth to get a meaningful time domain result from Fourier inverse transformation of the S parameters. In addition, we applied the conversion algorithm to the 4-port connector system, which calculates the S-parameters of a 4 port system using the data from a 2-port VNA with the other ports open. Comparison of the two data, one from measurement and the other one from the conversion algorithm, was made in this manuscript.
