  • Hydrodynamic behavior and response of vertical-cylindrical liquid-storage tank is considered. The equation of the liquid motion is shown by Laplace's differential equation with the fluid velocity potential. The solution of the Laplace's differential equation of the liquid motion is expressed with the modified Bessel functions. Only rigid tank is studied. The effective masses and heights for the tank contents are presented for engineering design model.

  • In this study, equation of finite element is formulated to analyze relations of large deformation-small deformation considering geometrical nonlinear for membrane structure. Total Lagrangian Formulation(TLF) is introduced to formulate theory and equation of motion considering Triangular Constant Strain(TCS) element in finite, element analysis is formulated. Finite element program is made by equation of motion considering TLF. This study analyzed a variety of examples, so compared with the past results.

  • The static characteristics of air-lubricated slider bearing were performed using direct numerical method. The equations of motion of slider bearing are solved simultaneously with the Reynolds equation for three degrees of freedom. The molecular rarefaction effect is considered. The models implemented include the first-order slip, the second-order slip, and the Boltzmann equation model derived by Fukui and Kaneko(FK model)

자기부상 스테이지의 제어를 위한 모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on the modeling for the control of magnetic levitation stage)

  • In this paper, we addressed a modeling for the magnetic levitation stage. This planar magnetic levitator employs four permanent magnet liner motors. Each motor generates vertical force for suspension against gravity, as well as horizontal force for propulsion. Therefore. this stage can generate six degrees of freedom motion by the combination of forces. We derived a mechanical dynamics equation using Lagrangian method and electromechanical dynamics equation by using Co-energy method. Based on the derived dynamics, we can analyze the stage motion that is subject to the input currents and forces.

부유식 구조체 운동 해석을 위한 시스템 식별 방법을 이용한 상태공간방정식 모델 (State-Space Equation Model for Motion Analysis of Floating Structures Using System-Identification Methods)

  • 이 논문에서는 파랑 하중을 받는 부유식 구조체의 운동 해석에 있어서 시스템 식별 방법을 이용한 상태공간방정식 모델을 수립하고 해석하는 방법을 제안하였다. 상태공간방정식 모델의 수립 방법으로는 주파수영역에서 하중-변위 입출력 관계에 대한 목표 전달함수를 구하고 이에 가장 근접하는 상태공간방정식을 구하는 절차를 제시하였다. 전통적으로 부유식 구조체 운동의 시간영역 해석은 지연함수의 합성곱적분을 포함하는 Cummins 방정식을 시간적분하여 이루어진다. 상태공간방정식 모델은 이러한 시간영역해석을 효과적으로 수행하기 위한 방법의 하나로서 연구되어 왔다. 제안하는 방법에서는 시스템 식별방법인 N4SID 와 전달함수의 분모 및 분자 다항식의 계수를 설계변수로 하는 최적화방법을 사용하여 목표 전달함수에 상응하는 상태공간방정식을 구한다. 제안하는 방법의 적용성을 보이는 예제로서 단자유도 수치모델 및 6자유도 바지의 운동을 해석하였다. 제시하는 상태공간방정식 모델은 주파수영역 및 시간영역에서 모두 기존의 해석결과와 잘 일치하고 시간영역해석에서는 계산의 정확도를 확보하면서 계산 시간을 크게 줄일 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Vortex Filament Equation and Non-linear Schrödinger Equation in S3

  • In 1906, da Rios, a student of Leivi-Civita, wrote a master's thesis modeling the motion of a vortex in a viscous fluid by the motion of a curve propagating in $R^3$, in the direction of its binormal with a speed equal to its curvature. Much later, in 1971 Hasimoto showed the equivalence of this system with the non-linear Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equation (NLS) $$q_t=i(q_{ss}+\frac{1}{2}{\mid}q{\mid}^2q$$. In this paper, we use the same idea as Terng used in her lecture notes but different technique to extend the above relation to the case of $R^3$, and obtained an analogous equation that $$q_t=i[q_{ss}+(\frac{1}{2}{\mid}q{\mid}^2+1)q]$$.

Ground-motion prediction equation for South Korea based on recent earthquake records

  • A ground-motion prediction equation (GMPE) for the Korean Peninsula, especially for South Korea, is developed based on synthetic ground motions generated using a ground motion model derived from instrumental records from 11 recent earthquakes of $M_L$>4.5 in Korea, including the Gyeongju earthquake of Sept. 12. 2016 ($M_L$5.8). PSAs of one standard deviation from the developed GMPE with $M_W$ 6.5 at hypocentral distances of 15 km and 25 km are compared to the design spectrum (soil condition, $S_B$) of the Korean Building Code 2016 (KBC), indicating that: (1) PSAs at short periods around 0.2 sec can be 1.5 times larger than the corresponding KBC PSA, and (2) SD's at periods longer than 2 sec do not exceed 8 cm. Although this comparison of the design spectrum with those of the GMPE developed herein intends to identify the characteristics of the scenario earthquake in a lower-seismicity region such as South Korea, it does not mean that the current design spectrum should be modified accordingly. To develop a design spectrum compatible with the Korean Peninsula, more systematic research using probabilistic seismic hazard analysis is necessary in the future.

Validity of a Portable APDM Inertial Sensor System for Stride Time and Stride Length during Treadmill Walking

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of stride time and stride length provided by a commercial APDM inertial sensor system (APDM) with the results of three dimensional motion capture system (3D motion) during treadmill walking. Method: Five healthy men participated in this experiment. All subjects walked on the treadmill for 3 minutes at their preferred walking speed. The 3D motion and the APDM were simultaneously used for extracting gait variables such as stride time and stride length. Mean difference and root mean squared (RMS) difference were used to compare the measured gait variables from the two measurement devices. The regression equation derived from the range of motion of the lower limb was also applied to correct the error of stride length. Results: The stride time extracted from the APDM was almost the same as that from the 3D motion (the mean difference and RMS difference were less than 0.0001 sec and 0.0085 sec, respectively). For stride length, mean difference and RMS difference were less than 0.1141 m and 0.1254 m, respectively. However, after correction of the stride length error using the derived regression equation, the mean difference and the RMS difference decreased to 0.0134 m and 0.0556 m or less, respectively. Conclusion: In this study, we confirmed the possibility of using the temporal variables provided from the APDM during treadmill walking. By applying the regression equation derived only from the range of motion provided by the APDM, the error of the spatial variable could be reduced. Although further studies are needed with additional subjects and various walking speeds, these results may provide the basic data necessary for using APDM in treadmill walking.

타원 상대운동 여러 궤도 해의 단주기 비교 (SHORT-TERM COMPARISON OF SEVERAL SOLUTIONS OF ELLIPTIC RELATIVE MOTION)

  • 최근에 제안된, 이웃하는 타원 궤도의 상대운동에 대한 몇 가지 양함수형 해를 분석하였다. 이 해를 이용한 상대운동 결과를 일반 선형화 운동 방정식의 해석적 해와 비교했다. 수치계산 결과를 위한 초기 조건은 Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire(HCW) 운동방정식에 의한 해의 역함수로 구했다. 기준 궤도의 차이에도 불구하고 상대적으로 작은 이심률의 궤도 일 경우에는 타원 상대운동 궤도와 원 상대운동 궤도의 결과는 근접했다. 주위성의 궤도가 상대적으로 큰 이심률을 가질 경우에는, 기본 궤도로 원 궤도를 이용하는 HCW 운동방정식은 다른 타원 상대운동 궤도 방정식의 해보다 상대적으로 큰 오차를 갖는다.

스파 플랫폼의 Mathieu형 불안정성에 미치는 감쇠판의 영향 (The Effect of Damping Plate on Mathieu-type Instability of Spar Platform)

  • This paper describes motion stability of a spar platform with and without a damping plate in regular waves. The heave and pitch motion equation is derived in terms of Mathieu equation and the stability diagram is obtained. It is shown that the spar platform with damping plate has smaller unstable region than that without damping plate in the stability diagram. Model tests are carried out to verify the mathematical analysis. Under the condition that the pitch natural period is approximately double the heave natural period and the heave motion is amplified at heave resonance, unstable pitch motions are evoked. However the unstable motion is stabilized in cases of spar platform with damping plate. Therefore the damping plate is an effective device to stabilize the motion of spar platform.
