The paper aims at analyzing the stress distribution around an underground opening that is subjected to non-symmetrical surface loading with emphasis on opening shapes with sharp corners and the stress concentrations developed at these locations. The analysis is performed utilizing the BIE method coupled with the Neumann's series. In order to implement this approach, the special recurrent relations for half plane were proven and the modified Shanks transform was incorporated to accelerate the series convergence. To demonstrate the capability of the developed approach, a horseshoe shape opening with sharp corners was investigated and the location and magnitude of the maximum hoop stress was calculated. The dependence of the maximum hoop stress location on the parameters of the surface loading (degree of asymmetry, size of loaded area) and of the opening (the opening height) was studied. It was found that the absolute magnitude of the maximum hoop stress (for all possible surface loading locations) is developed at the roof points when the opening height/width ratio is relatively large or when the pressure loading area is relatively narrow (compared to the roof arch radius), and contrarily, when the opening height/width ratio is relatively small or when the surface pressure is applied to a relatively wide area, the absolute magnitude of the maximum hoop stress is developed at the bottom sharp corner points.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate factors associated with employment stress and the relationships among employment stress, depression, and body mass index (BMI) among college nursing students. Methods: Subjects included 319 students at two colleges in Kyonggi and Chungbuk province, who were asked to complete a survey questionnaire. T-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were used for statistical analysis of data. Results: Results of this study showed an average value of 53.39 for the total employment stress scale, and both values for familial environmental stress and school environmental stress were relatively higher among subscales of employment stress. The average score on the depression scale was 10.18 indicating slightly high, and BMI was 20.35 with an obesity fraction of 12.3%. In addition, the results also indicated that they suffered from much stronger employment stress according to their severity of depression. Overall factors that affect employment stress included depression, age, economic status, and whether family members live together or not. However, BMI had no significant statistical effect on employment stress. Conclusion: Results of this study suggest that it is necessary for students to measure and control their employment stress and depression, because employment stress is closely associated with depression.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to exam the effects of nursing information about intensive care unit environment on ICU patient's environmental stress, anxiety and comfort. Methods: A non-equivalent control group with non-synchronized quasi-experimental research design was used. Participants were 60 (control 30, experimental 30) patients who admitted at ICU in one hospital in Gangneung. Experimental group was provided with nursing information about intensive care unit environment. To avoid contamination of the experiment, data for the control group were collected prior to the experimental group. Paired t-test, t-test, chi-square test were used to analyze the data using the SPSS WIN 19.0 Program. Results: ICU environmental stress (t=-.089, p=.045) and anxiety (t=-5.65, p<.001) were significantly more reduced than before intervention. Also, comfort (t=-2.98, p=.036) was significantly more improved than before intervention. Conclusion: It confirmed that nursing information on ICU environment is effective in reducing environmental stress, anxiety and improving comfort in ICU patients.

A series of cone penetration tests in large calibration chamber were performed to investigate the effect of cementation level, relative density and vertical confining stress on cone resistance. From the experimental results, it was observed that the cone resistance is increased with increasing gypsum content, relative density, and confining stress. The increasing ratio on cone resistance of cemented sand compared with that of uncemented sand, that is IR($q_c$), was increased with increasing gypsum content and relative density, whereas it was decreased as the vertical confining stress increases. It was also observed that the cementation of granular soil influences the behavior of ground at low level of confining stress and its effect is diminished with depth.

The ground source heat pump system is increasingly being considered as an alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems to reduce the emission of ground house gases. In this paper, A series of numerical analysis for energy piles has been performed focusing on heat transfer efficiency, performance and thermal stress. Results of numerical analyses for the W-shape type shows more efficient heat exchange transfer than the coil type. From results of the thermo-mechanical analysis, it is shown that the concentration of thermal stress occurs around the circulating pipe and the interfaces between different materials. The largest deformation caused by thermal stress is observed in the energy pile.
Objectives: Although increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) is caused by stress accelerates collagen degradation, there was no data on the relationship between stress and urinary hydroxyproline (Hyp) and proline (Pro), a good marker of collagen degradation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between depression, anxiety, and stress (DAS) and concentrations of urinary Hyp and Pro. Methods: 97 hospital employees aged 20 to 58 were asked to fill out comprehensive self-administrated questionnaires containing information about their medical history, lifestyle, length of the work year, shit-work and DAS. Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) was applied to evaluate chronic mental disorders. Urine samples were analyzed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with double derivatization for the assay of hydroxyproline and proline. Results: The mean value of Hyp and Pro concenturation in all subjects was $194.1{\pm}113.4\;{\mu}mol/g$ and $568.2{\pm}310.7\;{\mu}mol/g$. DASS values and urinary Pro concentrations were differentiated by sex (female > male, p < 0.05) and type of job (nurse > others, p < 0.05). In the stepwise multiple linear regressions, urinary Hyp and Pro concentrations were influenced by stress (Adjusted $r^2$ = 0.051) and anxiety and job (Adjusted $r^2$ = 0.199), respectively. Conclusions: We found that stress and anxiety were correlated with urinary Hyp and Pro concentrations. To identifying a definite correlation, further study in large populations will be needed.
Kinetin(KN) is an inducer of rice(Oryza sativa L.) defense/stress responses, as evidenced by the induction of inducible secondary metabolite and defense/stress protein markers in leaf. We show a novel light-dependent effect of KN-triggered defense stress responses in rice leaf. Leaf segments treated with KN(100 ${\mu}M$) show hypersensitive-like necrotic lesion formation only under continuous light illumination. Potent accumulation of two phytoalexins, sakuranetin and momilactone A(MoA) by KN that peaks at 48 h after treatment under continuous light is completely suppressed by incubation under continuous dark. Using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis we identified KN-induced changes in ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase, energy- and pathogenesis-related proteins(OsPR class 5 and 10 members) by N-terminal amino acid sequencing and mass spectrometry. These changes were light-inducible and could not be observed in the dark(and control). Present results provide a new dimension(light modulation/regulation) to our finding that KN has a potential role in the rice plant self-defense mechanism.
To elucidate the preventive effect of oriental medicine Gungchi -hwadamsun (GH) on stress, we investigated the physiological change of rats which were applied immobilization stress. For immobilization stress, rats were placed in restrainer for 12 hours a day for 3 days. During application of stress, body weight of rats was measured. After sacrifice, 8 organs were taken for measurement of organ weight. Brain was sectioned into 4 parts that are Frontal Cortex, Corpus Striatum, Hypothalamus and Hippocampus. Each part was homogenated and its catecholamine and serotonin contents were measured with HPLC. In our study, stress mainly induced increase of concentration of neurotransmitters in brain, but had mild effect on other physical function of rats. GH inhibited stress induced changes of neurotransmitter content in brain.

In recent years, as lines are selected In disadvantageous region, unavoidable developments is increased. Owing to such developments. environmental problems have been occurred frequently, In excavation of tunnels especially located in close to slope, uneven stress take place to tunnel due to a topographical factor. it is used assistant methods of construction which are excavation of slope, retaining wall, ground anchor, etc for uneven stress. these assistant methods raise problems of environmental. In this study, using slit, we could make better stress state by means of inducing stress concentration in boundary of tunnel. considering a variety of slit and rock mass condition, we use numerical analysis.
