청소년의 환경가치에 대한 연구 -서울 시내 중.고등학생을 사례로 (A Study on the Environmental Values of Students at the Level of Secondary Schools in Seoul)

  • The importance of values has been emphasized in the aspect of the cause and solution of environmental problems. It is suggested that educational programs designed to increase environmental concern should be focused on ecocentric values. To do this, it is a prerequisite to understand the level of learners'environmental value. This study measured the level of environmental values of students in secondary schools in Seoul and identified relationship with its variables such as belief, the degree of identification, and environmental experience. We discussed on how to improve the environmental education in the aspects of fostering ecocentric values from the results of this study.

식생활과 환경교육 프로그램의 개발과 적용 (Development and Implementation of Environmental Education Programs utilizing Dietary Life)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an environmental education programs utilizing dietary life. On this study, the environment education programs developed upon dietary life were implemented to the third graders to see how they affects their environmental literacy and specific aims of this study. The results were as follows; The first of all, we should start by outlining the relationship between our environment and our diet. We can use the resulting outline to develop the environmental education programs with the purpose of improving our diet. Secondly, there were significant changes in environmental recognition between the control group and the test group. Thirdly, the environment educational programs based on dietary life could enhance knowledges, emotions and activities about environment. As a conclusion, the environmental education programs could confirm its value as the environmental education programs in this study, and it could bring out positive influence on environmental literacy of third graders in the elementary school.

중학생들의 환경관에 대한 조사 연구 (A Survey of the Environmental Worldviews of Middle School Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the environmental worldviews of middle school students. An instrument to survey environmental worldviews consists two components; 'Human and Environment', and 'Human Behaviors and Environmental Problems' The two components are three environmental worldviews as follows: 'Technocentrism', 'Ecocentrism', 'and Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development(ESSD)'Subjects were 551 middle school students in metropolitan area and rural district(male: 285, female: 266). Most of middle school students had the environmental worldview of the ESSD. More female students had a tendency ESSD worldview than males. More male students had the positive Technocentrism than females. More middle school students in metropolitan area had ecocentrism than those in rural district. Understandings of students' environmental worldviews will be helpful to work out teaching and learning strategies in environmental education.

韓國 環境運動의 발전에 關한 一考 (A Study on the Development of Environmental Movement of the Rep. of Korea)

  • This research attempts to describe and explain the development of Korean environmental movement. It finds that the emergence of Korean environmental movement was constrained by the authoritarian nature of Korean politics. In 1970s, environmental movements were primitive and were not organized ones. With the wake of democratization in the 1980s, Korean environmental movement began to get some momentum. And in the 1990s, environmental movement to save clean water has achieved some success in certain areas. However, the emphasis on the growth of local economy in the age of local autonomy system has brought heavy degradation of local environment. The coming of the phenomena of Globalization and Cyber-Age has brought positive effects on Korean environmental movement.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an environmental education program for environmentally friendly consumer behaviors by analyzing factors influencing the attitude-behavior relationship, and examining consumer information needs about environmental problems. Environmental information demanded by consumers could be classified into five main areas; 'use and disposal of environmentally friendly resources', 'purchase of environmentally friendly goods', 'environmental problems and consumer sovereignty', 'environmental laws and regulations' and 'environmental values and consumer's civil consciousness'. Based on the study results, an environmental education program for consumers was developed which consisted of two main parts, basis and practice. The former aimed to strengthen consumer consciousness about environmental problems and the latter, to make regular environmentally friendly consumer behaviors. The two parts were correlated. Thus strengthening environment-related consumer consciousness by learning the part of basis could promote of environmentally friendly consumer behaviors.

  • In this review, we give an overview of psychiatric perspectives on environmental disease. The concept of genetic heritability and its meaning with regard to environmental risk factors will be discussed. Recent ideas of gene-environment interaction and neurodevelopmental disorder in psychiatry will also be introduced. This article discusses the environmental risk factors for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism, the two major environmental diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders in psychiatry. Given that both ADHD and autism are complex conditions, the etiology is likely to involve multiple genes of moderate effect interacting with environmental factors. We will introduce recent environmental issues related to these two disorders.

A Survey of Applications of Artificial Intelligence Algorithms in Eco-environmental Modelling

  • Application of artificial intelligence (AI) approaches in eco-environmental modeling has gradually increased for the last decade. Comprehensive understanding and evaluation on the applicability of this approach to eco-environmental modeling are needed. In this study, we reviewed the previous studies that used AI-techniques in eco-environmental modeling. Decision Tree (DT) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were found to be major AI algorithms preferred by researchers in ecological and environmental modeling areas. When the effect of the size of training data on model prediction accuracy was explored using the data from the previous studies, the prediction accuracy and the size of training data showed nonlinear correlation, which was best-described by hyperbolic saturation function among the tested nonlinear functions including power and logarithmic functions. The hyperbolic saturation equations were proposed to be used as a guideline for optimizing the size of training data set, which is critically important in designing the field experiments required for training AI-based eco-environmental modeling.

숲 환경해설 프로그램의 환경태도 개선효과 측정 (Measuring the Environmental Attitude Effects of Forest Environmental Interpretation Program)

  • This study addressed the effects of environmental attitude improved using forest environmental interpretation program. While previous research has focused developing interpretation program itself, this study analyzed the effects that environmental interpretation has improved toward pro-environmental attitude. This program was designed self-guiding interpretive techniques at Mt. Palgongsan Provincial Park. Environmental attitude was measured using 12 statements which was based on fifth-graders attitude scale in U.S.A. Data were collected from 84 elementary school participants in this program. Results showed that attitude scores of participants increased toward pro-environmental attitude. Especially, three statements (interest, safe and benefits of forest) are statistically significant differences between pre- and post survey. Results can be used by outdoor educators to evaluate and plan their environmental interpretation programs and methods.

Correcting Environmental Market Failures through Environmental Fiscal Reforms in China

  • By reviewing the current application of Environmental Fiscal Instruments in China, existing policy gaps and weakness, and the feasibility of using EFIs in China, this paper pointed out that the Chinese government faces an historic opportunity for promoting the development of a comprehensive environmental fiscal system. It is proposed that as far as possible the real economic and social costs of pollution and environmental degradation should be reflected in the prices charged for the use of environmental and natural resources. Chinese government should systematize existing environmental fiscal funds and policies, gradually setting up a framework for integrating environmental fiscal instruments into the public financial system.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the relationship between environmental assessment (EA) and land use planning through the theoretical and practical perspective. Theoretically, this research studies environmental land use planning incorporating with environmental assessment. Practically, through the review on EA review opinion in Korea Environment Institute for recent 10 years, environmental land use mitigations are investigated. The results of this study are as follows:first, there have been new and innovative review criteria and mitigation methods in environmental assessment; second, land use mitigation tools have been mostly used in environmental assessment; finally, there is a need for mediating role by land use section in EA review system.
