An underwater transient signal is distinguished from an ambient noise. Database for the underwater transient signal is required since the underwater transient signal shows various characteristics depending on acoustic features. In the paper, hence, sound mask-filter was applied to extract the transient signals which exist temporally and locally in the ocean. The standard signal was chosen and cross-correlated with the raw signal. A mask-filter for a transient signal was obtained using the threshold which was decided by the maximum likelihood method in the envelope of the cross-correlated signal. Using the sound mask-filter, the transient signal of a sea catfish {Galeichthys felis (Linnaeus)} was extracted from the underwater ambient noise. Similarly, the man-made signal was added into the noise and it was extracted by the same method. We also have demonstrated the significance of the transient signal through comparing the extracted signals depending on the standard signal. In the results, the proposed method, sound mask-filtering, could be utilized as a database construction of the transient signals in underwater noise. Particularly, this study would be useful to extract the wanted signal from arbitrary signals.

High energy photons and mechanical energy produced by the process of star formation result in copious FIR molecular and atomic lines, which are important coolants of the system. Photons thermally or mechanically induced could dissociate water in the dense envelope to change relative abundances among the species of O, OH, and H2O. Here we analyze OH emission lines toward embedded young stellar objects (YSOs) observed as part of the Herschel open time key program, 'Dust, Ice, and Gas In Time (DIGIT)' in order to study the physical conditions of associated gas and the energy budget loaded on the OH line emission. According to our analysis of the Herschel/PACS spectra, OH emission peaks at the central spaxel in most of sources, but several sources show spatially extended emission structures. In the extended emission sources, the distribution of OH emission is correlated with that of [OI] emission and extended along the outflow directions. Considering the diversity of source properties, ratios between detected OH lines are relatively constant among sources. In addition, each OH line has strong correlation with bolometric luminosity. In order to determine the physical conditions of YSOs, we adopt several methods for the analysis of the OH lines: rotational diagram, non-LTE LVG analysis, and a 2-D PDR code. From the simple LVG analysis, we find that the thermal solution with the dense ( > $10^7cm^{-3}$) and warm ( ~ 100 K) OH gas reproduces the ratios of detected OH lines. However, our self-consistent PDR 2-D model, which can deal with the IR-pumping effect from the central protostar as well as the warm dust in situ, cannot fit the observational results, suggesting that an irradiated shock model is necessary for a better interpretation.
In this study, the fire risk of the curtain wall structure was compared with a general structure among the double envelope structure using a fire simulation program. To this end, a fire-story building curtain wall was modeled as virtual using the PyroSim based on a fire simulation program (FDS). And then, the fires occurred in the model, divided by curtain wall non-applied model and applied model, in the same structure and place. To identify the fire characteristics, smoke behavior characteristics, viewing distance, and volume fractions of CO and $CO_2$ were comparative analyzed. As a result, it was identified that the curtain wall applied model quickly filled with smoke from the top floor to under the floor compared to the curtain wall non-applied model. From this study, the fire risk of curtain wall structure was evaluated in detail using the fire simulations.

Rehabilitation of historical unreinforced masonry (URM) buildings is a priority in many parts of the world, since those buildings are a living part of history and a testament of human achievement of the era of their construction. Many of these buildings are still operational; comprising brittle materials with no reinforcements, with spatially distributed mass and stiffness, they are not encompassed by current seismic assessment procedures that have been developed for other structural types. To facilitate the difficult task of selecting a proper rehabilitation strategy - often restricted by international treaties for non-invasiveness and reversibility of the intervention - and given the practical requirements for the buildings' intended reuse, this paper presents a practical procedure for assessment of seismic demands of URM buildings - mainly historical constructions that lack a well-defined diaphragm action. A key ingredient of the method is approximation of the spatial shape of lateral translation, ${\Phi}$, that the building assumes when subjected to a uniform field of lateral acceleration. Using ${\Phi}$ as a 3-D shape function, the dynamic response of the system is evaluated, using the concepts of SDOF approximation of continuous systems. This enables determination of the envelope of the developed deformations and the tendency for deformation and damage localization throughout the examined building for a given design earthquake scenario. Deformation demands are specified in terms of relative drift ratios referring to the in-plane and the out-of-plane seismic response of the building's structural elements. Drift ratio demands are compared with drift capacities associated with predefined performance limits. The accuracy of the introduced procedure is evaluated through (a) comparison of the response profiles with those obtained from detailed time-history dynamic analysis using a suite of ten strong ground motion records, five of which with near-field characteristics, and (b) evaluation of the performance assessment results with observations reported in reconnaissance reports of the field performance of two neoclassical torsionally-sensitive historical buildings, located in Thessaloniki, Greece, which survived a major earthquake in the past.

It is necessary to study and develop guidelines for providing comfort and health indoor air quality for office workers since air-tight envelope system of current office building may cause poor indoor air quality. The purpose of this study is to propose guideline for volatile organic compounds in office base on the field study, human health risk assessment and cost-benefit analysis. The field study was conducted to survey the concentrations of volatile organic compounds in indoor air of 69 offices from June to September, 2005 in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The rate of excess to guideline of volatile organic compounds in indoor air of new apartment on the Ministry of Environment in Korea(MOE) was surveyed 37.6% for benzene, 6.8% for toluene, and 1.5% for ethylbenzene. As the result of human health risk assessment, mean cancer risk did not exceed 10-6 which is guideline of US.EPA. Also, total hazard index did not exceed 1 which is guideline of US.EPA. Through the cost-benefit analysis of angle on the social-economics to verify the necessary to establish the standards of volatile organic compounds for improvement and development of indoor air quality in office, the present value of benefit was higher than the present value of cost. With the above considerations in mind, it is suggested that the field study for indoor air quality in offices should be expanded and human health risk assessment and cost-benefit analysis be performed th offer scientific data for decision-making of policy for improvement and management of indoor air quality in office.

In this paper, the designed and implemented results of CFL linearization chip which can be used in mobile radio and TRS terminal of UHF band(380~910 MHz), using $0.6\;{\mu}m$ BiCMOS process based on Si, are shown. As gain control circuits for modifying transmit power are inserted not only in feedback path but also in forward path, the stability of CFL is maintained. And, DC-offset correction function of S/H structure, which is suitable for walkie-talkie PTT operation and is easily implemented, is realized. The performance test results of transmitter show that the regulation of FCC emission mask at PEP 3 W(34.8 dBm) is satisfied when the CQPSK modulated signal is fed and more than 30 dBc improvement of 3rd order IMD is achieved when two-tone signal is inputted.
Although the E. coli heat-labile enterotoxin B subunit (LTB) is known to be a potent mucosal adjuvant towards co-administrated unrelated antigens and immunoregulator in T-helper 1-type-mediated autoimmune diseases, a more efficient and useful LTB is still required for prospective vaccine adjuvants. To determine whether a novel chimeric LTB subunit would produce an enhanced mucosal adjuvant activity and immune response, a number of LTB subunits were genetically fused with chimeric proteins using the epitope genes of the envelope glycoprotein E2 (gp51-54) from the classical swine fever virus (CSFV). It was found that the total serum immunoglobulin (Ig) levels of BALB/c mice orally immunized with chimeric proteins containing an N-terminal linked LTB subunit (LE1, LE2, and LE3) were higher than those of mice immunized with LTB, E2 epitope, and chimeric proteins that contained a C-terminal linked LTB subunit. In particular, immunization with LE1 markedly increased both the total serum Ig and fecal IgA level compared to immunization with LTB or the E2 epitope. Accordingly, the current results demonstrated that the LTB subunit in a chimeric protein exhibited a strong mucosal adjuvant effect as a carrier molecule, while the chimeric protein containing the LTB subunit stimulated the mucosal immune system by mediating the induction of antigen-specific serum Ig and mucosal IgA. Consequently, an LE1-mediated mucosal response may contribute to the development of effective antidiarrhea vaccine adjuvants.
In the past, there was a theory that influenza wasn't transmitted directly from birds but was infected to humans via swains. Recently, molecular level research has progressed, and it was confirmed that the avian influenza virus can directly infected to human lung and intestinal epithelial cells. Three pandemicsin the past 100 years were also infected to humans directly from birds. In view of such scientific background, we are developing a method for screening sick birds by monitoring the physiological characteristics of birds in a contactless manner with sensors. Here, the movement of respiratory muscles and abdominal muscles under autonomic innervation was monitored using a magnet and Hall sensor sewn on the thoracic wall, and other multimedia devices. This paper presents and discusses the results of experiments involving continuous periodic noise discovered during flight experiments with a data logger mounted on a Japanese pheasant from 2012 to 2015. A brief summary is given as the below: 1. Magnet and Hall sensor sewn to the left and right chest walls, bipolar electrocardiograms between the thoracic walls, posterior thoracic air sac pressure, angular velocity sensors sewn on the back and hips, and optical reflection of LEDs (blue and green) from the skin of the hips allow observation of periodic vibrations(fasciculations) in the waves. No such analysis has been reported before. 2. These fasciculations are presumed to be derived from muscle to maintain and control air sac pressure. 3. Since each muscle fiber is spatially Gaussian distributed from the sympathetic nerve, the envelope is assumed to plot a Gaussian curve. 4. Since avian trunk muscles contract periodically at all time, we assume that the sympathetic nerve dominates in their control. 5. The technique of sewing a magnet to the thoracic wall and measuring the strength of the magnetic field with a Hall sensor can be applied to screen for early stage of avian influenza, with a sensor attached to the chicken enclosure.
Curtain wall system of office buildings has recently become very common in Korea. As the multi-layer curtain glazing is exposed to outdoor environment, it is very subjected to direct environmental impact. Consequently, breakage and cracks of glazing due to heat expansion is frequently observed. This study explores various causes and aspects for destruction of multi-layer glazing. A sensitivity analysis was performed on the basis that thermal changes causes damage to the multi-layer glazing. Air temperature in air cavity within the multi-layer glazing was examined to find its effect on multi-layer glazing breakage. Analysis showed high deflection to depth ratio of 1:1.8 and that higher the aspect ratio, smaller is the deflection. Allowable pressure showed that the weakest value is for aspect ratio of 1:2.9. Sensitivity analysis by the area of the glazing showed that as area of glazing becomes higher, allowable pressure and deflection-depth ratio becomes smaller. For allowable pressure and allowable deflection-depth within air cavity, the glazing breakage occurred at least $107^{\circ}C$. The results from glazing breakage by thermal factor shows that it is hard to break the glazing with only an increase in air cavity temperature in multi-layer glazing applied in buildings.

A new modulation technique - correlative encoded FSK (CEFSK) - for use in power and bandwidth limited digital communication system is proposed. CEFSK is free of ISI and generates output signals which have a smooth and continuous phase transition and a reduced envelope fluctuation by keeping correlation between amplitude and phases of two subsequent symbols. In comparison to conventional one-bit differential detected (1DD) GFSK, the performance of the 1DD-CEFSK in a non-linearly amplified (NLA) channel impaired by additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), ISI and IM, is analyzed via computer simulation. The simulation result shows that, in an NLA single-channel, 1DD-CEFSK provides a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) advantage of up to 1.2dB and 0.8dB at BER of $1{\times}10^{-4}$ when input back-off (IBO) of HPA is -1.0dB and -3.0dB, respectively. For the same channel environment with multi-channel, 1DD-CEFSK outperforms 1DD-GFSK by 1.1dB in SNR, regardless of the value of IBO.
