  • Blockchain 2.0 supports programmable smart contract for the various distributed application. However, the environment of running smart contract is limited in the blockchain, so the smart contract only get the deterministic information, such as block height, block hash, and so on. Therefore, some applications, which requires random information, such as lottery or batting, should use oracle service that supply the information outside of blockchain. This paper develops a random number generator oracle service. The random number generator oracle service use irregular big data as entropy source. This paper tests the randomness of bits sequence generated from oracle service using NIST SP800-22. This paper also describes the advantages of irregular big data in our model in perspective of cost comparing hardware entropy source.

  • In this paper, we propose a Cooperative Transmission Strategy using Entropy-based Relay Selection in Mobile Ad-hoc Wireless Sensor Networks(MAWSN) with Rayleigh Fading Environments. The main features and contributions of the proposed cooperative transmission strategy are as follows. First, entropy-based relay selection is used to improve data transmission reliability from a source node to a destination node. Second, we present a theoretical analysis model for the proposed cooperative transmission strategy with the outage probability of the end-to-end performance. The performance of our protocol is evaluated using analysis and simulation.

  • Mobile communication technology after 5th generation requires high speed, hyper-connection, and low latency communication. In order to meet technical requirements for secure hyper-connectivity, low-spec IoT devices that are considered the end of IoT services must also be able to provide the same level of security as high-spec servers. For the purpose of performing these security functions, it is required for cryptographic keys to have the necessary degree of stability in cryptographic algorithms. Cryptographic keys are usually generated from cryptographic random number generators. At this time, good noise sources are needed to generate random numbers, and hardware random number generators such as TRNG are used because it is difficult for the low-spec device environment to obtain sufficient noise sources. In this paper we used the chip which is based on quantum characteristics where the decay of radioactive isotopes is unpredictable, and we presented a variety of methods (TRNG) obtaining an entropy source in the form of binary-bit series. In addition, we conducted the NIST SP 800-90B test for the entropy of output values generated by each TRNG to compare the amount of entropy with each method.

  • The channel transmission ratio is speeded up by the combination of the Huffman algorithm, the model scheme of the lossy transform having minimum average code lengths for the image information and good instantaneous decoding capability, with the Lempel-Ziv algorithm showing the fast processing performance during the compression process. In order to increase the processing speed during the compression process, ICMEP algorithm is proposed and the entropy encoder of HDTV is designed and inspected. The ICMEP entropy encoder have been designed by choosing the top-down method and consisted of the source codes and the test benches by the behavior expression with VHDL. As a simulation results, implemented ICMEP entropy encoder confirmed that whole system efficiency by memory saturation prevention and compressibility increase improves.

  • 101 coding scheme, one of sliding block coding techniques, provides practically attractive features in some compression applications for image sources such as facsimile. This paper presents a new simple model of 101 coder. The results show that the entropy of the output of the 101 coder can be reduced close to the rate distortion bound of a binary first-order markov source.

  • Statistical POS tagging is prone to error, because of the inherent limitations of statistical data, especially single source of data. Therefore it is widely agreed that the possibility of further enhancement lies in exploiting various knowledge sources. However these data sources are bound to be inconsistent to each other. This paper shows the possibility of using maximum entropy model to Korean language POS tagging. We use as the knowledge sources n-gram data and trigger pair data. We show how perplexity measure varies when two knowledge sources are combined using maximum entropy method. The experiment used a trigram model which produced 94.9% accuracy using Hidden Markov Model, and showed increase to 95.6% when combined with trigger pair data using Maximum Entropy method. This clearly shows possibility of further enhancement when various knowledge sources are developed and combined using ME method.

  • Hardware security primitives, also known as physical unclonable functions (PUFs), perform innovative roles to extract the randomness unique to specific hardware. This paper proposes a novel hardware security primitive using a commercial off-the-shelf flash memory chip that is an intrinsic part of most commercial Internet of Things (IoT) devices. First, we define a hardware security source model to describe a hardware-based fixed random bit generator for use in security applications, such as cryptographic key generation. Then, we propose a hardware security primitive with flash memory by exploiting the variability of tunneling electrons in the floating gate. In accordance with the requirements for robustness against the environment, timing variations, and random errors, we developed an adaptive extraction algorithm for the flash PUF. Experimental results show that the proposed flash PUF successfully generates a fixed random response, where the uniqueness is 49.1%, steadiness is 3.8%, uniformity is 50.2%, and min-entropy per bit is 0.87. Thus, our approach can be applied to security applications with reliability and satisfy high-entropy requirements, such as cryptographic key generation for IoT devices.

  • In a companion paper, we have presented so-called Spatio-Spectral Maximum Entropy Method (SSMEM) particularly designed for Fourier-Transform imaging over a wide spectral range. The SSMEM allows simultaneous acquisition of both spectral and spatial information and we consider it most suitable for imaging spectroscopy of solar microwave emission. In this paper, we run the SSMEM for a realistic model of solar microwave radiation and a model array resembling the Owens Valley Solar Array in order to identify and resolve possible issues in the application of the SSMEM to solar microwave imaging spectroscopy. We mainly concern ourselves with issues as to how the frequency dependent noise in the data and frequency-dependent variations of source size and background flux will affect the result of imaging spectroscopy under the SSMEM. We also test the capability of the SSMEM against other conventional techniques, CLEAN and MEM.

  • In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised domain adaptation solution to deal with practical face recognition (FR) scenarios where a single face image for each target identity (to be recognized) is only available in the training phase. Main goal of the proposed method is to reduce the discrepancy between the target and the source domain face images, which ultimately improves FR performances. The proposed method is based on the Domain Adatation network (DAN) using an MMD loss function to reduce the discrepancy between domains. In order to train more effectively, we develop a novel loss function learning strategy in which MMD loss and cross-entropy loss functions are adopted by using different weights according to the progress of each epoch during the learning. The proposed weight adoptation focuses on the training of the source domain in the initial learning phase to learn facial feature information such as eyes, nose, and mouth. After the initial learning is completed, the resulting feature information is used to training a deep network using the target domain images. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, FR performances were evaluated with pretrained model trained only with CASIA-webface (source images) and fine-tuned model trained only with FERET's gallery (target images) under the same FR scenarios. The experimental results showed that the proposed semi-supervised domain adaptation can be improved by 24.78% compared to the pre-trained model and 28.42% compared to the fine-tuned model. In addition, the proposed method outperformed other state-of-the-arts domain adaptation approaches by 9.41%.

  • Critical elements in the China's Lunar Exploration reside in that the lunar rover travels over the surrounding undetermined environment and it conducts scientific exploration under the ground control via teleoperation system. Such an interplanetary transportation mission teleoperation system belongs to the ground application system in deep space mission, which performs terrain reconstruction, visual positioning, path planning, and rover motion control by receiving telemetry data. It plays a vital role in the whole lunar exploration operation and its so-called trustworthy evidence must be assessed before and during its implementation. Taking ISO standards and China's national military standards as trustworthy evidence source, the net assessment model and net assessment method of teleoperation system are established in this paper. The multi-dimensional net assessment model covering the life cycle of software is defined by extracting the trustworthy evidences from trustworthy evidence source. The qualitative decisions are converted to quantitative weights through the net assessment method (NAM) combined with fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) and entropy weight method (EWM) to determine the weight of the evidence elements in the net assessment model. The paper employs the teleoperation system for interplanetary transportation as a case study. The experimental result drawn shows the validity and rationality of net assessment model and method. In the final part of this paper, the untrustworthy elements of the teleoperation system are discovered and an improvement scheme is established upon the "net result". The work completed in this paper has been applied in the development of the teleoperation system of China's Chang'e-3 (CE-3) "Jade Rabbit-1" and Chang'e-4 (CE-4) "Jade Rabbit-2" rover successfully. Besides, it will be implemented in China's Chang'e-5 (CE-5) mission in 2019. What's more, it will be promoted in the Mars exploration mission in 2020. Therefore it is valuable to the development process improvement of aerospace information system.
