To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean Association of Small Business Studies, this study reviewed research papers on the subject of entrepreneurship in the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business. For 40 years, the subjects of entrepreneurship-related studies published in this journal were relatively limited and the number of articles was very few. The research papers mainly focus on defining entrepreneurship as an innovation or as a determinant of innovation and survey-based empirical studies have been conducted since the publication of the Entrepreneurial Orientation(EO) by Lumpkin and Dess(1996). Although entrepreneurship is a research field that can be approached from various perspectives such as economics, sociology, psychology, cultural anthropology, and organization theory, most of the papers published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business do not clearly state their theoretical positions or viewpoints. Moreover, there are few studies that incorporate corporate entrepreneurs or startup teams although they have been major actors or entrepreneurship. Lastly, innovation has been the main focus of research, leaving other arenas such as opportunity recognition and discovery understudied. In order to increase the quantity and improve the quality in the entrepreneurship research, we need to have the entrepreneurship field as one academic section in the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business.

The increase of university student start-up companies is taking place in the entrepreneurial education environment within the university, and the support of university, community, and start-up support institutions for university student start-up, the starting point of the start-up ecosystem, is paying off. It can be seen that the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem based on university entrepreneurship education is in place. The university supports the entire business process from idea development, such as start-up classes, start-up club support, patent application support, prototype development support, and investment linkage. However, there is a university that develops and operates a unique program for each school and a university that does not. This study investigates and analyzes various marketing models that can overcome the economic challenges and resource scarcity faced by solo entrepreneurs. Previous research primarily focused on the integrated marketing communication (IMC) model, resulting in a lack of comprehensive discussion. In this study, we emphasized the IT content marketing communication model, considering a holistic analysis and the changing roles over time. As a result, we were able to propose a new strategic approach by integrating the ICM community model into a convergent value chain, improving the IMC model and promoting brand growth and online presence enhancement. This has laid the foundation for effectively increasing brand awareness and provided specific guidelines to support the sustained growth of solo entrepreneurship.

Accordingly, responses from 272 organizations in this industry that participated in the corporate section of the 2022 Entrepreneurship Panel Survey conducted by the Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation were used. A regression analysis was performed on the data using the SPSS 25.0 program. According to the analysis, the entrepreneurial orientation subfactors of autonomy, proactiveness, innovativeness, and competitive pursuit had positive impacts on organizational performance. Risk-taking, on the other hand, had no effect on organizational performance. Based on these findings, building an entrepreneurial-oriented organizational culture and strengthening compensation to promote an entrepreneurial orientation are recommended.
