  • This study investigates how enjoyment (or playfulness) affects user acceptance of hedonic-oriented (or pleasure) information technology based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). A research model was made to examine the effect of enjoyment on the user acceptance of hedonic information technology. 186 responses were collected from university students who had experiences on Daum's Digital View which is a well-known example of digital signage technology. The result of the statistical analysis reveals that enjoyment also had a strong effect on the acceptance of hedonic information technology, in addition to perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, perceived usefulness is reported to most strongly influence the adoption of Digital View. The effect of enjoyment on intention to use was also significant, but enjoyment shows a much low degree of influence than perceived usefulness on intention to use.

  • Artificial intelligent (AI) smart speaker sales have increased rapidly, and AI technology has become more pervasive in our daily lives. This study explored motivations for smart speaker use and examined how motivation and relationship type with AI speakers affect enjoyment. Smart speaker use is primarily motivated by conversational, trend-leading, efficient, and entertaining factors. Among these four, trend-leading, efficient, and entertaining factors positively influenced users' enjoyment. However, among the three types of relationship with AI speakers, only the assistant/helper type affected enjoyment. The results of the current study provide practical implications for future directions in AI speaker interaction design.

  • This study investigated consumer perceptions of information provided in a fashion Instagram. This study examined the differences between information provided in Instagram by brand vs consumers. A pilot test was conducted to develop stimuli and a brand selection in the main study. Participants were randomly assigned to one of two stimuli manipulated by information providers, and examined the perceived credibility, usefulness, and enjoyment of information as well as brand attachment and purchase intention. We gathered and analyzed a total of 200 data. The findings of the study showed that respondents perceived significantly greater usefulness and purchase intention of images uploaded by consumers compared to the fashion brand. Credibility and enjoyment were significant factors to enhance brand attachment; in addition, usefulness, credibility, and enjoyment were significant factors to increase purchase intention. • This study examined the role of enjoyment in the relationship between perceived auditory feedback (PAF), which provides information about the situation during game play, and user experience factors. 100 undergraduates played a mobile game, 'Classy Royale' and took a survey about their user experience. As a result of analyzing the available data from 98 participants, PROCESS MACRO showed that PAF was positively associated with enjoyment, immersion, and intention to use; enjoyment mediated the effects of PAF on immersion and intention. These results can help game research and development regarding the functional value of audio factors.

  • One of the important research streams in the privacy literature for the past decade has been to discover factors affecting the decision-making process related to self-disclosure, called the cost-benefit analysis. However, although human behavior is greatly influenced by affective as well as cognitive factors, most of the factors found in previous studies are those with cognitive properties. Based on the awareness of this imbalanced situation, the study examines the role of affective factors on self-dislosure decision-making, especially SNS enjoyment and SNS fatigue. As a result of data analysis, the study finds that the influence of these affective factors is significant, and the influence of SNS enjoyment is greater than that of SNS fatigue. As for the relationship between the affective factors and the decision-making factors, the study finds that the positive affect(enjoyment) relates to only the positive evaluation factor(benefit) and the negative affect(fatigue) relates only the negative evaluation factor(cost), which demonstrate the congruent effect mechanism. Based on the result, the study discusses meaningful implications and suggestions for future studies.

  • Along with the recent advances of mobile internet technology, use of social network service(SNS) is very common among adolescents or college students in their daily lives. Although there have been a lot of studies on Internet addiction or mobile phone addiction, however, there were little research on SNS addiction so far. Scholars investigated somewhat broader and obscure phenomenon of Internet addiction. In this regard, the current study tried to examine factors which influence SNS addiction behavior. Unlike Internet addiction, there are positive influencing factors such socialization, enjoyment as well as problematic ones like loneliness. Data were collected from college students in Korea to examine how those factors influence addiction behavior and hypotheses were tested using the partial least square method. All three factors, socialization, enjoyment, and loneliness, were found to significantly influence SNS addiction and socialization was positively associated with enjoyment.

  • This study was designed to examine the antecedents of mobile app usage among smart phone users. An extended TAM, which included the additional factors of perceived enjoyment, perceived informative usefulness and perceived social usefulness, was applied to predict people's intention to use mobile apps. Overall, the hypothesized research model did a fairly good job explaining significant associations between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The findings had showed that perceived social usefulness, perceived enjoyment and attitude were significantly affect intention to use mobile apps. Meanwhile, perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived informative usefulness were not significantly effects attitude towards intention to use mobile apps. Therefore, mobile apps developers should develop mobile apps that are easier for the users to seek information. For the information available should be more precise and bringing more benefits to the users.
