공학교육 입문설계의 운영사례 연구 (한밭대학교 중심으로) (Study on running practices of introductory design for engineering education (based on an example of Hanbat National University))

  • In this paper, we surveyed from students and professors of Hanbat National University to examine the current state of running the introductory engineering design and to derive the direction of future improvements of the subject. A total of 783 students from nine departments and 12 professors who are in charge of the introductory engineering design participated in the present questionnaire evaluation. Outcome categories of the interest in their major and the learning of design theory appears relatively lower than other learning outcomes of the introductory engineering design course. Accordingly, it is determined that the theoretical aspects of designing should be emphasized in performing a team project. The design process, writing and presentation ability, teamwork theory are dealt in more than 70% of the departments, but engineering ethics, patent, visualization education had not been addressed in a number of departments due to their department characteristics. While a lesson outcome of the creativity resulted in the largest for the students, most of the professor feel difficult in increasing the creativity. It is urgent to develope of teaching methods in order to promote the creativity in the introductory engineering design course.

도심지 대규모 굴착공사에서 수행된 자동계측과 수동계측의 비교 사례 (Comparison of Field Monitoring System in case of Automatic and Manual Type Executed in Urban Deep Excavation Site)

  • Displacement control of earth retaining wall is recognized as the most important item for insuring the stability of ground in urban deep excavation site near by major structure such as subway etc. The field monitoring system is classified by two types as manual system and automatic system. The application case of latter type of field monitoring is increased because real time measurement is possible in automatic system and that is correspondent with the recent constructional trend. Though the automatic monitoring system is more useful and advanced than manual monitoring system, accuracy of the system is not verified sufficiently. It was examined that the reliance of automatic monitoring system in this paper through the comparison of monitoring result obtained three urban excavation site in which the each type of monitoring system was executed concurrently. Result of the examination is that the two types of monitoring system is generally alike in view of monitoring result, so the engineering reliance of automatic system was confirmed in case site. This task was researched in restricted case site, it is expected more precise analysis from security of more data monitored and progressive study.

가상 건설 시스템 개발 현황과 비전 (The Present Status and Vision of Virtual Construction System Development)

  • 가상건설시스템 개발연구단은 국토해양부와 한국건설교통기술평가원의 지원 하에 설립되었다. 본 연구단은 건설프로젝트의 생산성 향상, 고 부가가치 사업 창출, 해외건설시장에서의 경쟁력 확보라는 목표를 가지고 연구를 수행 중에 있다. 가상건설 시스템은 건축물의 전 생애주기에서 발생되는 정보를 효과적으로 공유할 수 있도록 3D 및 정보 기반의 설계, 엔지니어링, 건설관리 업무를 지원하게 된다. 위의 목표를 달성하기 위해서 연구단은 가상건설시스템 하위에 다양한 기능을 수행하는 모듈들을 개발하는 데에 연구의 초점을 맞추고 있다. 첫째, 3D 기반 구조 설계 설비 및 견적시스템 개발이다. 둘째, 가상현실 기법을 활용한 기획단계에서의 프로세스 시뮬레이션 및 사업성 분석 시스템 개발이다. 셋째, 건설프로젝트에서 다루어지는 모든 정보를 관리할 수 있는 CPLM(Construction Project Life-cycle Management)을 개발하는 것이다. CPLM은 3D 기술과 정보 기반 협업을 통한 의사결정 지원 시스템이다. 이와 같은 본 연구단의 최종목표에 도달하기 위하여 2차 년도에 가상건설 프로토타입 시스템을 개발 완료하였고, 3차 년도 가상건설 시스템의 각 모듈 완성 및 시스템 통합을 목표로 연구를 진행하고 있다. 본 연구는 향후 건설산업에서 필수개념으로 자리잡게 될 BIM의 국가적 차원의 연구라는 점에서 시사하는 바가 크다고 할 수 있다.

Lessons Learned during the Early Phases of a Modular Project: A Case Study of UNLV's Solar Decathlon 2020 Project

  • The U.S. Department of Energy conducts the Solar Decathlon competition as a student-based achievement that encourages sustainable design with energy efficiency and solar energy technologies. In the 2020 competition, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) team designed, fabricated, and constructed a net-zero modular house that applies innovative and highly efficient building technologies. This paper focused on the lessons learned during the early phases of this ongoing modular project. The research methodology included obtaining feedback from key project participants using a well-structured questionnaire. The results showed that the major items/challenges in the project's planning phase included selecting the modular size, planning the construction system, planning the materials and procurement, estimating costs and duration, selecting a fabricator, collaboration and communication, safety, and planning module transportation. These findings will help modular practitioners and future Solar Decathlon competition participants better understand how and what factors they should consider most during the early phases through the lessons learned.

  • Taylor and Ford in the 1910s led to the "scientific management" for the entire industry from the manufacturing spread of TQM Total Quality Management has been structured as a management efficiency, such as 6-Sigma techniques were developed. SW development also introduces the idea, such as CMMI and SPICE-based process management, management practices have evolved. However, in recent years to increase the knowledge of workers in the manufacturing process oriented management approach is under serious challenge. Business performance or productivity will be varied depending all motivation, human relationship, job involvement rather than simply putting a lot of time. Especially in the SW industry which is depending on human resource, Creativity should be limited in traditional management methods. Recently, Google and Apple, Cisco and global advanced companies adopt a human relationship management. Their productivity and creativity in product development has been successful by giving autonomy and motivation, enthusiasm and vision to tile employees. Human relationship management since the mid-1990s, appears as a new paradigm so called Agile process in the field of SW development. Agile processes emphasis on light, flexible and responding to changes immediately in the business environment step away from traditional management approach which is the heavy and complicated process. In this paper, agile project management concepts and practices which is applied to industry will be examined.

Multicriteria shape design of a sheet contour in stamping

  • One of the hottest challenges in automotive industry is related to weight reduction in sheet metal forming processes, in order to produce a high quality metal part with minimal material cost. Stamping is the most widely used sheet metal forming process; but its implementation comes with several fabrication flaws such as springback and failure. A global and simple approach to circumvent these unwanted process drawbacks consists in optimizing the initial blank shape with innovative methods. The aim of this paper is to introduce an efficient methodology to deal with complex, computationally expensive multicriteria optimization problems. Our approach is based on the combination of methods to capture the Pareto Front, approximate criteria (to save computational costs) and global optimizers. To illustrate the efficiency, we consider the stamping of an industrial workpiece as test-case. Our approach is applied to the springback and failure criteria. To optimize these two criteria, a global optimization algorithm was chosen. It is the Simulated Annealing algorithm hybridized with the Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation in order to gain in time and in precision. The multicriteria problems amounts to the capture of the Pareto Front associated to the two criteria. Normal Boundary Intersection and Normalized Normal Constraint Method are considered for generating a set of Pareto-optimal solutions with the characteristic of uniform distribution of front points. The computational results are compared to those obtained with the well-known Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II. The results show that our proposed approach is efficient to deal with the multicriteria shape optimization of highly non-linear mechanical systems.

Innovation of Engineering Education via Global Automotive Development Project

  • 본 논문은 세계 여러나라의 대학들이 다학제간 자동차 개발 프로젝트를 공동으로 수행함으로써 혁신적 공학교육 환경을 구축하기 위한 노력을 기술하였다. 이 프로젝트의 주 목적은 학생들로 하여금 신속한 설계와 제조에 대한 실질적 경험을 갖도록 하는 동시에 국제적 규모의 협업을 통하여 다른 국가의 다른 전공의 학생들과 의사전달 경험을 쌓도록 하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 먼저 산업디자인 전공학생과 공학전공 학생들간에 긴밀한 협조환경을 강조하였으며 이는 프로젝트에 있어서 설계와 제조간의 공조의 어려움 뿐만 아니라 서로 다른 전공의 특히다른 국가의 대학들의 학생들끼리 스스로 프로젝트 팀을 구성하고 분업하여 효율적으로 협업을 이루어 가야 한다는 점에서 중요한 교육적 시도임을 시사하였다. 또한 향후 각 대학에서는 지속적인 의사전달기술을 토대로 팀기반 협업환경에서의 설계교육을 강화하여 국제적 공학혁신 교육환경을 조성하기 위한 노력이 중요하다는 점을 제시하였다.

An Exploratory Study of EVMS Environment Factors and their Impact on Cost Performance for Construction and Environmental Projects

  • A high-performing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) can influence project success and help stakeholders meet project objectives. Although EVMS processes are well-supported by technical guidelines and standards, project managers often face challenges related to the project culture, team, resources, and business practices that make up the project environment within which an EVMS is being used. A comprehensive literature review revealed a lack of a data-driven and consistent assessment frameworks that can gauge the environment surrounding EVMS implementation. This paper will discuss the EVMS environment of construction and environmental projects, and examine its impact on cost performance. The authors used a multi-method approach to identify 27 environment factors that make up the EVMS environment, assessing them on 18 construction and environmental projects worth over $2 billion of total cost. Research methods employed include: (1) a literature review of more than 300 references; (2) a survey of 294 respondents; and (3) remote research charrettes with more than 60 participating expert practitioners. Culture (one of the identified environment categories) was found to be relatively more important in terms of its impact on the EVMS environment, followed by people, practices, and resources. These exploratory results show statistically significant differences in cost performance between completed projects with either a good or poor environment, for the sample projects. Key environment factors are outlined, and guidance is provided to practitioners around how to set up an effective EVMS environment in a construction or environmental project to inform decision-making and support achieving the project cost objectives successfully.

다중 사용자 온라인 게임 개발을 통한 소프트웨어 개발 교육 (Software Development Education through Developing a usable Multiplayer Online Game)

  • 게임제작은 전산학을 가르치는 효과적이고 매력적인 방법이다. 다중사용자 게임제작은 기술, 팀웍, 소프트웨어 공학등 중요한 측면들을 요구하고 있다. 전체 클래스를 다수의 팀으로 구성하고, 학생들은 하나 혹은 두 개의 팀에 속하였다. 각 팀은 한학기동안 자신들의 진행상황을 발표하고, 향후 이정표와 트러블슈팅에 대해 논의하고, 명확한 소통을 위해 문서를 갱신하고, SVN(Subversion)을 활용하였다. 다른 클래스 구성과 달리, 모든 학생이 하나의 목적을 달성하려는 회사처럼 서로 협력하여 일을 했다. 한학기동안 학생들은 개념설계부터 시작해서 "deBugger(2009)"와 "World of Balance(2011)"라는 다중사용자 온라인 게임을 완성했다. 더불어 게임설계, 3D 그래픽스, 게임엔진, 서버-클라이언트 구조, 게임프로토콜, 네트워크 프로그래밍, 데이터베이스, 소프트웨어공학, 팀 프로젝트로서 대규모 어플리케이션 제작방법들을 학습할 수 있었다.

  • 국내에 CM이 도입된지 $5\~6$년이 지나 제법 많은 CM사례들이 생겼으나 발표된 사례는 관공사 몇 개 프로젝트에 불과한 실정이다. 본 인사동 I-프로젝트는 외국인 발주자를 대신하여 CM을 수행하는 현장으로 공기 및 공사비 면에서 여러 가지 제약이 있었지만 선진관리기법을 적용하여 발주자의 만족은 물론 모든 프로젝트참여자가 Win-Win할 수 있는 성공적인 결과를 도출해낸 프로젝트이다. CM사는 공기단축, 원가절감 및 품질향상을 위하여 많은 선진기법을 적용하였으며, 특히 지역, 시간의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 Web-based Project Management System의 적용, 층간 Cycle 공정관리의 적용 및 Is09002에 따른 체계적인 품질관리, 공사실명제 및 공정별 준공시스템의 적용으로 프로젝트의 효율을 증대시켰다. 본 프로젝트를 수행하면서 CM에 대한 이해부족, Communication 및 Team Work 부족, 프로젝트 참여자간의 모호한 업무 분장 등으로 초기에는 문제가 발생하였으나 지속적인 교육과 협의를 통하여 상호 이해와 신뢰를 구축할 수 있었으며 프로젝트 참여자간에 목표를 공유하고 신뢰 속에서 업무를 추진할 수 있었다 본 프로젝트의 성공적인 수행이 국내 CM정착에 좋은 사례가 되었으면 한다.
