MTP(Multi-graded Tutoring Project) is a designed curriculum needed to perform a high quality project to improve teamwork and major skills for college student of science and engineering. Each student can experience teaching activities as a tutor and learning activities as a tutee in the MTP for three years. Through this curriculum, students are expected to obtain the capabilities to set up and search the goal of given projects, to make human network among multi-graded students and professionals which could be critical for finding careers, and to perform graduation projects in a more systematic and co-operated way, resulting in highly-qualified outputs. In this paper, MTP e-portfolio evaluation model is suggested. This model evaluates the individual-level performance operating in MTP curriculum. The evaluation model is described with three dimensional structure composed of participator, changes in learning, and learning processes. The resultant model could be utilized as tools for evaluating the curriculum set up for the multi-graded project-based teaching environment.
In this study, a restriction enzyme mapping inquiry experiment was developed for cultivating basic knowledge on molecular biology and the effects on inquiry experiment ability and positive experience on science through student-centered molecular biology inquiry experiment class for second graders of a general high school was analyzed. First of all, it was found that the experimental class through the inquiry experiment was significantly effective as the percentage of high school students who answered 'yes' or higher in the positive science experience of general high school students was higher after than before the test. As a result of developing and applying a series of five classes for the creation of restriction enzyme maps, not only did the students' interest in science studies, but also their class participation increased. They were also used as effective specific science learning motives, science career aspirations and experience data. The science environment of the inquiry experiment class led to the improvement of students' learning attitudes and positive science experience, which had a positive effect on the importance of class concentration and class quality, active communication and mutual cooperation among students. In addition, inquiry and experiment classes will provide opportunities for career experience, which will become the foundation for cultivating basic knowledge on molecular biology and advancing to science and engineering.

The purpose of this study is to develop a board game design activity for environmental education and to investigate how it affects high school students' environmental knowledge, environmental literacy, and creative engineering problem solving propensity. Twenty-five freshman and sophomore students belonging to the environmental club participated in this study. The board game activity was designed as 10 class hours lessons based on the engineering design process. The main data source of this study was pre-post students' conceptual maps of the environmental topics (global warming or ecosystem destruction) to measure the background knowledge on the topic. In addition, the environmental literacy measurement questionnaire and the creative engineering problem solving propensity questionnaire were collected before and after the activity. The result shows that the number of environment-related words described by the students on the post-concept map increased compared to the pre-concept map. In addition, the environmental literacy score and the creative engineering problem-solving propensity score increased significantly after performing the board game design activity. The results show that environmental lessons using board game design activities can help student develop various competencies in a good way. As above, research that combines board games and secondary education must be activated, and a new educational method and systemic support for in-service teachers who want to apply it to science classroom is required.
National competitiveness is related directly to the strength of educational competitiveness of universities. Seoul National University (SNU) has been taking efforts to improve its competitiveness in University education in variety of ways and the classroom assessment is one key example of those. The current classroom assessment system practiced at universities is being used to evaluate courses and professors in charge by the university administration or evaluation committee. The classroom assessment system is not intended to put students and professors as the subject of the evaluation. In this case, the evaluation is intended wrongfully to rank the courses and evaluate professors' achievement by assigning grades on the lectures. Instead, a proper classroom assessment system should be targeted to improve the quality of lectures by encouraging communication among professor and students in the classroom. In this study, it was intended to investigate a suitable classroom assessment system to enhance the effectiveness of education, not to rank the courses and evaluate professors' achievement. For this purpose, research has been carried out to investigate opinions of professors at SNU on the criteria of classroom assessment and to analyze the criteria of classroom assessment at other domestic universities in Korea. The inquiries for feedback on the lecture by the student in the class was analyzed. The current classroom assessment system at SNU was reviewed and an improvement plan was devised to evaluate liberal art courses of engineering and science schools at SNU. In this research, the problems in the classroom assessment system was reviewed and improvement points were searched to utilize the classroom assessment system more effectively for the improvement of lecture quality.
This study aims to analyze the impact of vocational training received by learning workers through the degree-linked work-study program on their learning outcomes. Specifically, we explore the causal relationship between various factors considered during university degree program admission and selection, and the average GPA (Grade Point Average) after admission. To achieve this, we conducted regression analysis and variance analysis using historical admission data and GPA records of 976 students from three undergraduate programs at a domestic K university that implements the degree-linked work-study model. Additionally, we included company information from publicly available databases that could potentially influence the academic performance of learning workers. Our analysis revealed significant causal relationships across various factors, including the classification of the high school attended, gender, family background, subject-specific grades in high school, duration of employment at the company, and age at the time of admission. Based on these findings, we anticipate that universities operating similar degree programs can enhance their selection procedures for learning workers. Furthermore, the results of this study can serve as foundational data for future policy recommendations related to degree-linked work-study programs.
This study analyzed the international research trend of the secondary school level engineering education published from 2004 to 2014 in four major journals associated with technology education. The findings of this study were as followings First, regarding the published year, the studies related to the secondary school level engineering education were started from 2004 and had been conducted most actively from 2007 to 2011 (32 pieces). However, the number of studies decreased after 2012. Second, regarding the research topic, the number of study followed by 'survey/investigation' (16 pieces), 'establishment of concept/theoretical discussion' (11 pieces), 'verification of teaching method/models' effect' (10 pieces), 'teaching method/model observation' (7 pieces), 'development of concept/teaching method/model' (4 pieces). Third, regarding the research subject, the number of study followed by 'high school student' (17 pieces), 'literature' (16 pieces), 'teacher' (12 pieces), 'professor' (5 pieces). Fourth, regarding the research method, the number of study followed by 'survey research' (13 pieces), 'literature research' (12 pieces), 'qualitative research' (12 pieces), 'experimental research' (6 pieces), 'integrated research' (5 pieces). Based on the conclusion of this study, there are the needs for further studies to establish theoretical foundation on the engineering concept and content elements in secondary school level, investigate technology teachers' perception toward the implementation of engineering education, and analyze secondary school students' problem solving process.
This research surveyed 324 college students majored dental hygiene in Gwangju and Chonnam province to analyze their awareness and degree of practice about infection control. Through the study for recognition about infectious disease related with the grade, the sophomore students are the group who is the most aware. In addition, the study shows students who experienced teeth cleaning have high degree of awareness (p<0.05). The research of perception about infectious disease based on experiences for vaccinations and education about infection prevention says hepatitis B has the highest rate when it comes to level of occurrence risk and tuberculosis and acquired immune deficiency syndrome are the lowest (p<0.05). According to the research, the group who had vaccination, knowledge about infection prevention and experience for scaling shows high practice rate for hand washing according to whether students receive protective inoculation or not. Depending on what the result were, since student learned about infection control has high degree of recognition and practice about infection management if we could emphasize the importance to students through regulative education about infection control and then increase the degree of practice, it would make big contributions to the effective infection control.
As the age in which the importance of sensitivity has increased, education for the future generation regarding emotion engineering, affective recognition and cognitive science have taken center stage. We measure human's emotion quantitatively, analyze evaluation and apply them to various services in life, which are based on human technology. Therefore, we need the education which is related to emotion science to cultivate talented people. The goal of this paper is to suggest the possibility of emotion science education and effective methods through development of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) program which can teach emotion science to early elementary school students by applying it to pilot classes. For this study, first, we build a program, 'The mind made by figure' for student of early elementary school. The method of STEAM was used in this program, because it is an effective system to educate the emotion science. We recognize the needs and value of this program development through theory and benchmarking of STEAM related to emotion science. And then the contents of class, activities, course book and kit are designed with elementary school textbook of pertinent grade. Secondly, we analyze the result which is applied in two pilot classes of second grade by satisfaction survey and teacher interview. As a result, the average of satisfaction level was very high (4.40/5), Class participation was especially high. Third, we discuss the ability, value and limits of this program based on the result of analysis. The outcome of this research shows that students of early elementary school who have difficulty in understanding science can approach the education program related to emotion science with ease and interest. We hope this education will help students understand emotion science effectively, and to train people to lead the emotion centered era.
