Integrated Applications of Microalgae to Wastewater Treatment and Biorefinery: Recent Advances and Opportunities

  • Microalgae is becoming a vital component for a circular economy and ultimately for sustainable development. Herein, recent developments in different outcomes of microalgae for wastewater treatment and biorefinery were reviewed. From its primary function as a third-generation resource of biofuel, the usage of microalgae has been diversified as an integral element for the CO2 sequestration and production of economically valuable products (e.g., pharmaceuticals, animal feeds, biofertilizer, biochar, etc.). Principles and recent challenges for each microalgae application were presented to suggest a motivation for future research and the direction of development. The integration of microalgae within the concept of the circular economy was also discussed with various routes of microalgae-based biorefinery.

  • In China, the Reform-Open policy was executed in 1978. During the following 30 years, the economic regime in China had been changed to a socialist market economy from a socialist planned economy, and the construction industry in China has been achieved high economic growth. However, as the construction project increasing, a lot of problems which affect the construction expense payment occur. And it is a fact that the construction expense payment disputes have become a serious problem now. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the problem of Chinese construction expense payment. In this paper, we would like to clarify the difference of the legislation of construction expense payment between China and Taiwan Region.

  • 최근 디지털 공유 경제가 사회에 가져다 줄 혜택에 대한 기대가 높다. 디지털 공유 경제가 정착되려면 신뢰할 수 있는 사회 구조가 우선 마련되어야 한다. 투명성은 정치나 경제 영역뿐 아니라 우리 삶의 모든 영역에서 가장 중요한 가치 척도로 인정받고 있고, 모든 국가가 '신용과 신뢰기반의 사회'를 지향하지만 현실 사회 곳곳에선 불투명과 부정 비리 비효율이 만연해 있다. 그러므로 신뢰하기 어려운 디지털 환경에 신뢰를 구축하기 위해 '제2의 인터넷 혁명'으로 불리는 블록체인 기술에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 그러나 아직도 블록체인 기술을 평가하는 기준과 방법이 명확하지 않고 표준화되어 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 디지털 공유 경제에 블록체인을 활용하기 위한 처리속도, 데이터량, 정확도 등의 블록체인 평가지표와 평가방법을 짚어보고, 블록체인 기반의 안전한 디지털 공유 경제 활성화 방안을 제시한다.

공기저항 저감장치 패키지를 이용한 대형화물차량의 연비개선 및 온실가스 저감효과에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on GHG Emissions Reduction and Fuel Economy Improvement of Heavy-Duty Trucks by Using Aerodynamics Device Package)

  • Improving fuel consumption, particularly that of commercial vehicles, has become a global concern. The reduction in logistics cost has been a key issue in efforts to improve fuel economy and efficiency of transportation equipment. Typical technologies for reducing reduce fuel usage include air resistance reduction technologies, tire rolling resistance technologies, and idle technologies among others. Air resistance technology is a highly effective method that can be easily applied in a short period. As with air resistance technology, several devices involving side skirt, boat tail and gap fairing have been developed based on an analytical 3-D modeling technique for reducing air resistance attributed to the vehicle configuration. The devices were on a 45 feet tractor-trailer and the emission test was done using PEMS equipment. Fuel economy was evaluated by introducing several devices to reduce outer air resistance. The test was conducted by changing the experimental method of SAE J1321 Joint TMC/SAE Fuel Consumption Test Procedure - Type II test. As a result, air resistance decreased by at least 15 % and fuel economy improved by at least 13 %. This study sought to reduce greenhouse gas and improve fuel economy by applying several devices to a test vehicle to lower air resistance.

  • 군용 차량은 일반 차량에 비하여 높은 기동 성능 및 정숙성을 요구한다. 또한 최소의 연료 보급으로 최대의 작전 수행 능력을 보유하고 있어야 한다. 시리즈 하이브리드 자동차의 경우 모터만을 이용하여 차량을 구동하므로, 정숙성이 뛰어나고 초기 기동 토크가 커 구동 성능이 뛰어나다. 또한 하이브리드화를 통하여 연비 향상 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 이와 같은 시리즈 하이브리드 차량의 경우 배터리 SOC 와 차량의 주행 상태에 따라 엔진과 발전기로 이루어진 발전 시스템에서 전기를 생산하여 차량 구동에 이용하거나 배터리를 충전한다. 발전 시스템의 작동 여부와 작동 영역을 결정하는 것이 시리즈 하이브리드 차량의 주행 전략이며 이 주행전략에 따라 연비 성능에 차이가 난다. 본 연구에서는 Thermostat, Power-Follower, Combined 주행 전략을 비교/평가 하였으며 새롭게 제안한 Combined 주행 전략을 통하여 기존 차량 대비 37%의 연비 향상 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

DEVELOPMENT OF FUEL CELL HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE PERFORMANCE SIMULATOR

  • A performance simulator for the fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle (FCHEV) is developed to evaluate the potentials of hybridization for fuel cell electric vehicle. Dynamic models of FCHEV's electric powertrain components such as fuel cell stack, battery, traction motor, DC/DC converter, etc. are obtained by modular approach using MATLAB SIMULINK. In addition, a thermodynamic model of the fuel cell is introduced using bondgraph to investigate the temperature effect on the vehicle performance. It is found from the simulation results that the hybridization of fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) provides better hydrogen fuel economy especially in the city driving owing to the braking energy recuperation and relatively high efficiency operation of the fuel cell. It is also found from the thermodynamic simulation of the FCEV that the fuel economy and acceleration performance are affected by the temperature due to the relatively low efficiency and reduced output power of the fuel cell stack at low temperature.

  • Industrial management can be achieved in the improvement of productivities and goods qualities, only copy with international competition through technological renovation, This compels the renewal and augment of production equipments, for which more investment has to be projected. Equipment investment, However, has the possibility of assuring the expectation of profit, but the capricious reality of economical situation caused by inflation requires the precedent study of exmining, analyzing and assaying the effect of equipment investment for a long term. The resolution must depend on a technique of what is called engineering economy, which scrutinizes some samples of investment analysis under price fluctuations, which designates through a method of direct calculation that the only less scale of primal investment never bestows wider profit, and recognizes what contribution engineering economy has to the decision making of management.

  • With the economy reform carried on deeply step by step, forestry industry is playing a more and more important role in the country's economy. How to use the limited resources to make the largest economical benefit is a key point for the industry development, however it is exciting that our forest resources is on sustainable development gradually and forestry output value is also increasing every year, input and export volume is enlarged fast, add to reasonable strategy, no doubt that China's forestry can achieve a prosperous future.

동적 계획법을 이용한 직렬형 및 병렬형 하이브리드 버스 시스템 연비 비교 (Comparison of the Fuel Economy of Series and Parallel Hybrid Bus System Using Dynamic Programming)

  • There are lots of studies about hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) because of the global warming and energy problems. Series and parallel HEVs are the common types of many developing hybrid vehicle types. Series HEV uses engine only as the generator for the battery but parallel HEV utilizes engine for driving and generating of the vehicle. In this paper, backward simulations based on dynamic programming were conducted for the fuel economy analysis of two different types of hybrid transit buses depending on driving cycles. It is shown that there is a relation between the type of HEV and the characteristics of driving cycles. Regarding the aggressiveness, the series hybrid bus is more efficient than the parallel system on highly aggressive driving cycle. On the other hand, the parallel hybrid bus is more efficient than the series system on low aggressive driving cycle. Based on this results of the paper, it is expected to choose more efficient type of the hybrid buses according to the driving cycle.

저농도 바이오알코올 혼합 연료가 스파크 점화 엔진 차량의 연비 및 배출가스에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Low Level Bio-Alcohol Fuels on Fuel Economy and Emissions in Spark Ignition Engine Vehicles)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the impact of low level bio-alcohols that can be applied without modification of vehicles to improve air quality in Korea. The emissions and fuel economy of low level bio-alcohols mixed gasoline fuels of spark ignition vehicles, which are direct injection and port fuel injection, were studied in this paper. As a result of the evaluation, the particle number (PN) was reduced in all evaluation fuels compared to the sub octane gasoline without oxygen, but the correlation with the PN due to the increase in the oxygen content was not clear. In the CVS-75 mode, emitted CO tended to decrease compared to sub octane gasoline, but no significant correlation was found between NMHC, NOx and fuel economy. In addition, it was found that the aldehyde increased in the oxygenated fuel, and there was no difference in terms of the amount of aldehyde generated among a series of bio-alcohol mixed fuels.
