  • The Divert and Attitude Control System(DACS) used in high-altitude engagements is expensive and complex. In this paper, we design a high-altitude terminal guidance and control loop of guided-missile equipped with a Thrust Vector Control(TVC) that is less expensive and simpler than DACS. The proposed system utilizes a quaternion feedback control technique to track the thrust attitude command converted from the acceleration command of true proportional navigation guidance. The performance analysis of the proposed terminal guidance and control loop is conducted through engagement simulations against ballistic targets at a high altitude.

  • How might historians secure for the river a larger berth in the recent macro-historical turn? This question cannot find a greater niche than in the emerging critique of the existing spatial configuration of regionalism in mainland Southeastern Asia. The Brahmaputra, Irrawaddy, Salween, Mekong and Yangtze rivers spread out like a necklace around Yunnan and cut across parts of the territories that are known as South, Southeast and East Asia. Each of these rivers has a different topography and fluvial itinerary, giving rise to different political, economic and cultural trajectories. Yet these rivers together form a connected "water-world". These rivers engendered conversations between multi-agentive mobility and large-scale place-making and were at the heart of inter-Asian engagements and integration until the formal end of the European empires. Being both a subject and a sponsor of transregional crossings, the paper argues, these rivers point to the need for a new historical approach that registers the connections between parts of the Southeast Asian massif through to the expansive plain land and the vast coastal rim of the Bay of Bengal and the China Seas. A connection that could be framed through the concept of Holon.

  • The paper addresses Erik Cohen's pioneering work on tourism in Thailand, specifically his publications on the relations between Thai women and foreign (farang) men in tourist-oriented encounters. Of sociological-anthropological interest is his conceptualization of these relations as "open-ended prostitution as a skilful game of luck" based on his study of a Bangkok soi (lane) in 1981-1984, and his exploration of Thai culture in terms of ambiguity and contradiction. On the basis of recent ethnographic research in the northern Thai tourist hub of Chiang Mai and wide-ranging observations on tourism development in Thailand, we examine continuity and change in these male-female engagements since Cohen's research, especially in the context of the increasing availability of such electronic agencies as social media, messaging, video chat, and internet dating. Whereas Cohen's concept of ambiguity and illusion has tended to disappear from physical spaces, it seems to have resurfaced in virtual space. The complexities of host-guest relations, and particularly the interactions both within the variegated category of "guests" themselves and then between their "hostesses" are explored in terms of sites of tourism-oriented encounters in both physical and virtual space so as to deconstruct these oppositional categories which have been formative in studies of tourism.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine historical development, ideology and praxis of Islamic radicalism in Indonesia. In the second part of this paper, radical trends under Sukarno and Suharto governments will be dealt with, focusing on three streams of Darul Islam, Dewan Dakwah Islamiyah Indonesia and Islamic secret sects. The third part investigates the surge of radical Islamic movements after the fall of Suharto regime. For this, three organizations are again selected for detailed analysis. This paper argues that, judging from active engagements of radical organizations in national and international affairs and favorable attitude of general Muslims toward them, radicalism has recently established itself as one of the major constituents of Indonesian Islam. To put it differently, the current situation signifies that under the Suharto regime, a diversification of so-called the santri has been underway. Contrary to the traditional santri group which emphasizes the fulfillment of faith in the private sphere, another group has been crystallized, which gives priority to Islamic roles in public sphere and attempts to realize these. It is difficult to pinpoint the reasons why this group has emerged. Its effect, however, can relatively easily be grasped. With the surge of this new radical stream, the rhetoric of an establishment of Islamic state and a realization of Islamic law has no longer been tabooed and has been instated as the key element in public discourse of Islam.

  • Purpose: This comprehensive study delves into the intricate relationship between customer engagement, perceived risk, and perceived value within China's burgeoning e-commerce livestreaming sector. It focuses on how different customer engagement types in livestreaming influence their perception of value and risk. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: Adopting a convenience sampling approach, this research scrutinizes data collected from 852 consumers actively involved in e-commerce livestreaming shopping. Participants provided their insights through a meticulously designed questionnaire survey. Structural equation modeling helped examine the interplay between customer engagement, perceived risk, and value. Results: Significant impacts of customer engagement on perceived value and risk were found. Observation-based, conversation-based, and action-based engagements enhance perceived risk, while conversation-based and action-based engagement reduce perceived risk. Interestingly, observation-based engagement did not significantly affect perceived risk. The study also uncovered that perceived risk negatively impacts perceived value. Conclusions: The research offers insights into customer behavior and value creation in e-commerce livestreaming. It underscores how different engagement types affect perceived value and risk, aiding e-commerce platforms and businesses in strategy development to improve customer experience and minimize risks, enhancing perceived value in this dynamic sector. • Various methods have been developed to predict the flight path of an air-launched weapon to intercept a fast-moving target in the air. However, it is also getting more challenging to predict the optimal firing zone and provide it to a pilot in real-time during engagements for advanced weapons having new complicated guidance and thrust control. In this study, a method is proposed to develop an optimized weapon engagement zone by the SCG (Scaled Conjugate Gradient) algorithm to achieve both accurate and fast estimates and provide an optimized launch display to a pilot during combat engagement. SCG algorithm is fully automated, includes no critical user-dependent parameters, and avoids an exhaustive search used repeatedly to determine the appropriate stage and size of machine learning. Compared with real data, this study showed that the development of a machine learning-based weapon aiming algorithm can provide proper output for optimum weapon launch zones that can be used for operational fighters. This study also established a process to develop one of the critical aircraft-weapon integration software, which can be commonly used for aircraft integration of air-launched weapons.

  • Macao, a special administrative region of China, has been able to maintain the records of zero deaths and keep confirmed cases under 50 since the outbreak of COVID-19 for more than half a year as of July 2020, despite being the world's most densely populated city. The current paper utilizes the dialogic public relations theory to analyze the situation using both literature review on how the various government actions and strategies during the pandemic were corresponding to the theory, and a quantitative random digital dialing (RDD) telephone survey, with a sample of 502 Macao residents aged 18 or above, to study the public reactions towards the government pandemic prevention actions. Survey results show a high level of public satisfaction towards epidemic prevention performance, as well as some forms of collaborative information redissemination behavior in social media platforms. Literature review and analysis from dialogic theory found that spirit of mutual equality, collaboration with local community, immediacy of presence in crisis time, engagements with stakeholders through maximum media channels and networks, supportiveness to public with both useful information and practical social support like subsidy program, as well as commitment to transparent and genuine communication, are all the dialogic communications strategies that describe what the Macao government has done in the crisis of COVID-19. The dialogic strategies that could be learned from the Macao government may be used as a reference for similar urbanized and densely populated cities in other territories.
