  • Recently, global warming has been a serious issue on the worldwide, and the importance of energy conservation is increasing. In most buildings, energy consumption increases due to cooling, heating, and ventilation. Because of these issues, researches have been carried out to reduce building energy. However, in most conventional forced-air system, the guidelines for the Air Handling Unit (AHU) discharge air temperature are not fully established. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of AHU discharge air temperature, which is one of the important control variables, on the overall energy consumption and thermal comfort characteristics by modeling conventional forced-air system using EnergyPlus. In addition, recommendations for energy reduction in conventional AHU is provided.

  • The delay in the construction permit for the building, which obtained the approval of business proposal, may lead to a difference in the maintenance cost ranging between 20% and 30% in the neighborhood where the residents moved in, along with the new project under construction in the surrounding area amidst rigorous regulations that aim to promote energy-saving and the heightened interest of the public in energy conservation, and such problem would become the major source of serious public complaints. Thus, the energy-saving plan needs to be prepared when the approval is granted to the business plan. In order to prevent public complaints or ensure effectiveness of government's energy plan, it may be effective to apply the energy-saving plan based on current standards upon the award of construction permit when two years have elapsed since the date of the scheduled commencement of construction or when the start of construction is delayed as stipulated in the Article 18 of the Enforcement Decree of Housing Act. If the energy-saving plan and related technologies are merely the parts of license and permit process without fully serving their purposes and functions, it would be waste of time to deploy a lot of workforce and review and seek consultation. The government or owners of buildings need to fully understand the energy-saving aspects and exert effort to enhance the energy efficiency of buildings.

  • Recently, the green building and energy connection system are establishing. But, National certification system for environment-Friendly Buildings is indicated hangup about energy efficiency of building. Commissioning, energy conservation, renewable energy, carbon dioxide emissions, it is determined that the energy associated with LEED and GBCC four items of the comparative analysis showed the following results. First, on the practical performance of the system after the completion of commissioning of the energy associated with the system completed until after the final performance for secure operation from the planning stage to verify and document systematically how to perform, but the domestic review and verification is incomplete. Second, the use of energy-saving and renewable energy is directly related to the energy consumption of the building, but GBCC the strengthening of standards on how to evaluate it is deemed necessary. Finally, the evaluation of the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, LEED Unlike GBCC the life-cycle of the system without considering the global warming index only because a substantial step in the operating efficiency can not be assessed. Based on this study GBCC energy savings through efficiency to actively carry out research through a systematic analysis of the basic guidelines to proceed.

  • In the present analysis, a number of sun control devices are examined for their performance in promoting the interior visual environment. Two exemplary cases are introduced for their excellence in harnessing the concept of daylighting and passive concepts. Of these, the Johnson Controls branch office building in Salt Lake City manifests the effectiveness of light shelves and clerestory windows in implementing these concepts. Distinct optical characteristics are found for overhangs, light shelves, louvers, and blinds as they interfere with the path of sunlight. Substantial amount of energy could be saved if the fundamentals of these devices are truly understood in their application to residential and commercial buildings. Sustained efforts should be made in this regard by the builders, architects, energy consultants, and educators who make contributions in energy management.

  • Anomaly detection is the identification of data that do not conform to a normal pattern or behavior model in a dataset. It can be utilized for detecting errors among data generated by devices or user behavior change in a social network data set. In this study, we proposed a new approach using rank correlation coefficient to efficiently detect abnormal data in devices of a building. With the increased push for energy conservation, many energy efficiency solutions have been proposed over the years. HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) system monitors and manages thousands of sensors such as thermostats, air conditioners, and lighting in large buildings. Currently, operators use the building's HVAC system for controlling efficient energy consumption. By using the proposed approach, it is possible to observe changes of ranking relationship between the devices in HVAC system and identify abnormal behavior in social network.

  • It is increased electrical energy consumption with the development of intelligence society in the general hospitals and thus an energy conservation through efficient use of electricity became more important. This paper shows a reasonable design demand factor in office buildings, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated electric equipment capacity, peak power consumption, demand factor, etc., for 32 general hospitals and 9 electrical design offices. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyse the key features and general trend from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimun and thus it was carried linear and nonlinear regression analysis.

  • Approximately 20 percentage of energy consumptions in buildings is consumed as lighting energy. Thus, most of the corporations of lighting fixture have launched low energy products. However, many researchers focused on the only luminous efficacy for energy conservation and used the evaluating tool of study. This can not gauge the precise cooling load related on generated heat of artificial lighting. In order to assess an effect of the temperature variation of lighting resources, the main purpose of this study is to predict the generated heating energy from lighting by measuring the thermal variation in scale model to reduce external noise. Also this paper used MX100 data logger to record at an interval of 1 minute for 60 minutes for the temperature of interior lightings such as incandescent lamp, fluorescent light, halogen lamp and LED lamp. As a result, LED lamp generated the lowest heat. On the other hand, incandescent lamp did the highest.

  • Environmental pollution has become a serious worldwide problem the humans has encountered in several decades. On the respect of the preservation of the global environment, world-wide consensus to cope with this problem was represented as 1992's Rio Declation. The purpose of this study is to develope evaluation technique of ecological architecture. The environmental scores of the buildings are evaluated and improved from the building design phase in order to build the best environmental building. Ecological architecture is mainly based on the balance of three element : Nature, Humanity, and Cost saving. Its main goals are energy saving and recycling, resource saving, high contact with circumstances, and health & amenity.

  • The green building is one of biggest factors to go the goal of energy saving and environmental conservation, reduction of energy consumption, friendly energy technology, recycling of resource, and environmental pollution reduction technology. The purpose of these green buildings realized by the energy-saving technology such as the exterior materials or curtain wall system. The curtain wall system is a element that come to insulated portions of building envelope that results in heat loss. The purpose of this paper is to carried out mock-up tests for exterior wall used in autoclaved lightweight concrete panels in green building practices. Mock-up test execute a mixed process between standard test procedure and complex test procedure based on AAMA 501(American Society for Testing and Materials) and ASTM 283, ASTM 330(American Society for Testing and Materials). In results, tests meet the requirements that grant values in steps of procedures provided on ASTM and AAMA. ALC panel is suitable for a exterior wall product to be gratified thermal cycling performance and structural capacity, deflection(H/200) and lateral displacement(H/50), for curtain walls.
