Congestion Management (CM) is an attractive research area in the electrical power transmission with the power compensation abilities. Reconfiguration and the Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices utilization relieve the congestion in transmission lines. The lack of optimal power (real and reactive) usage with the better transfer capability and minimum cost is still challenging issue in the CM. The prediction of suitable place for the energy resources to control the power flow is the major requirement for power handling scenario. This paper proposes the novel optimization principle to select the best location for the energy resources to achieve the real-reactive power compensation. The parameters estimation and the selection of values with the best fitness through the Symmetrical Distance Travelling Optimization (SDTO) algorithm establishes the proper controlling of optimal power flow in the transmission lines. The modified fitness function formulation based on the bus parameters, index estimation correspond to the optimal reactive power usage enhances the power transfer capability with the minimum cost. The comparative analysis between the proposed method with the existing power management techniques regarding the parameters of power loss, cost value, load power and energy loss confirms the effectiveness of proposed work in the distributed renewable energy systems.
The energy constraint is still a common issue for the practical application of wireless sensors, since they are usually powered by batteries which limit their lifetime. In this paper, a practical compound energy efficiency strategy is proposed and realized in the implementation of a real time wireless sensor platform. The platform is intended for wireless structural monitoring applications and consists of three parts, wireless sensing unit, base station and data acquisition and configuration software running in a computer within the Matlab environment. The high energy efficiency of the wireless sensor platform is achieved by a proposed adaptive radio transmission power control algorithm, and some straightforward methods, including adopting low power ICs and high efficient power management circuits, low duty cycle radio polling and switching off radio between two adjacent data packets' transmission. The adaptive transmission power control algorithm is based on the statistical average of the path loss estimations using a moving average filter. The algorithm is implemented in the wireless node and relies on the received signal strength feedback piggybacked in the ACK packet from the base station node to estimate the path loss. Therefore, it does not need any control packet overheads. Several experiments are carried out to investigate the link quality of radio channels, validate and evaluate the proposed adaptive transmission power control algorithm, including static and dynamic experiments.

Mindlin plate theory includes the shear deformation and rotatory inertia effects which cannot be negligible as exciting frequency increases. The statistical methods such as energy flow analysis(EFA) and statistical energy analysis(SEA) are very useful for estimation of structure-borne sound of various built-up structures. For the reliable vibrational analysis of built-up structures at high frequencies, the energy transfer relationship between out-of-plane waves and in-plane waves exist in Mindlin plates coupled at arbitrary angles must be derived. In this paper, the new wave transmission analysis is successfully performed for various energy analyses of Mindlin plates coupled at arbitrary angles.
This article deals with a minimum energy control law of S-CVT connected to a dc motor. The S-CVT can smoothly transit between the forward, neutral, and reverse states without any brakes or clutches, and its compact and simple design and its relatively simple control make it particularly effective for mechanical systems in which excessively large torques are not required. And such an S-CVT equipped power transmission has the advantage of being able to operate the power sources in their regions of maximum efficiency, thereby improving the energy efficiency of the transmission system. The S-CVT was intended to primarily for use in small power capacity transmissions, thus a dc motor was considered here as the power source. We first review the structure and operating principles of the S-CVT, including experimental results of its performance. And then we describe a minimum energy control law of S-CVT connected to a do motor. To do this, we describe the results of an analysis of the dynamics of an S-CVT equipped power transmission and the power efficiency of a DC motor. The minimum energy control design is carried out via B-spline parameterization. And we show numerical results obtained from simulations illustrate the validity of our minimum energy control design, benchmarked with a computed torque control algorithm for S-CVT.
Models and experiments for magnetic resonance coupling wireless power transmission (MRC-WPT) topologies such as the chain topology and branch topology are studied in this paper. Coupling mode theory based energy resonance models are built for the two topologies. Complete energy resonance models including input items, loss coefficients, and coupling coefficients are built for the two topologies. The storage and the oscillation model of the resonant energy are built in the time domain. The effect of the excitation item, loss item, and coupling coefficients on MRC systems are provided in detail. By solving the energy oscillation time domain model, distance enhancing models are established for the chain topology, and energy relocating models are established for the branch topology. Under the assumption that there are no couplings between every other coil or between loads, the maximum transmission capacity conditions are found for the chain topology, and energy distribution models are established for the branch topology. A MRC-WPT experiment was carried out for the verification of the above model. The maximum transmission distance enhancement condition for the chain topology, and the energy allocation model for the branch topology were verified by experiments.
A precise bonding technique, transmission laser bonding using energy transfer, for polymer micro devices is presented. The irradiated IR laser beam passes through the transparent part and absorbed on the opaque part. The absorbed energy is converted into heat and bonding takes place. In order to optimize the bonding quality, the temperature profile on the interface must be obtained. Using optical measurements of the both plates, the absorbed energy can be calculated. At the wavelength of 1100nm $87.5\%$ of incident laser energy was used for bonding process from the calculation. A heat transfer model was applied for obtaining the transient temperature profile. It was found that with the power of 29.5 mW, the interface begins to melt and bond each other in 3 sec and it is in a good agreement with experiment results. The transmission IR laser bonding has a potential in the local precise bonding in MEMS or Lab-on-a-chip applications.

In this paper, a fuel cell battery charger system, which is capable of bi-directional power transmission without built in battery, has been designed and fabricated. Performance and states of the notebook battery in bi-directional power transmission using the manufactured system have been tested. Before initializing the fuel cell charging system for 1 minute, the system received 10 W of electric power from notebook battery. Then the fuel cell charging system has been normal charging to notebook battery by 50 W. As a result of the experiment, the state of the notebook battery discharged less than 5% at the initial charging time, but then it has been charged. This results proves bi-directional power transmission in notebook computers increase the availability of fuel cell chargers.

The paper deals with the energy transmission ratio of the elastic waves obliquely transmitting through a plate and a pipe. The incidence angle corresponding to the maximum transmission was determined theoretically and considered in the design of ultrasonic transducers for flow velocimetry. Experimentally-obtained transmission ratios were compared with and confirmed the theoretically-calculated results.

The paper deals with the energy transmission of the elastic waves obliquely transmitting and refracting through a plate and a pipe. By calculating the transmitting ratio depending on the incidence angle, the angle corresponding to the maximum transmission was determined theoretically and considered in the design of ultrasonic transducers for flow velocimetry. Experiments were carried out by using prototypes of the transducers. Experimentally-obtained transmission ratios were compared with and confirmed the theoretically-calculated results.

In this research, we present a natural lighting system with transmission distance of 30m and lighting efficiency of 35% (30m standard) for operating hours of 7h/day (based on clear sky). The system is composed of parabolic reflective mirror and modified light pipe that can secure more than 88% of light concentration efficiency. The light loss rate of newly designed light pipe transmission system is demonstrated to 0.8 %/m in the straight-line part and 2%/m in the curved part. Modified light pipe daylighting system shows better performance over fiber optic daylighting system in terms of transmission distance (1.5 times longer) and illuminance (3.05 times higher).
