  • Magnetic disks have been used for decades in auxiliary storage devices of computer systems. In recent years, the use of NAND flash memory, which is called SSD, is increased as auxiliary storage devices. However, NAND flash memory, unlike traditional magnetic disks, necessarily performs the erase operation before the write operation in order to overwrite data and this leads to degrade the system lifetime and performance of overall NAND flash memory system. Moreover, NAND flash memory has the lower endurance, compared to traditional magnetic disks. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes EPET (Enhanced Prediction and Elapsed Time) wear leveling technique, which is especially efficient to portable devices. EPET wear leveling uses the advantage of PET (Prediction of Elapsed Time) wear leveling and solves long-term system failure time problem. Moreover, EPET wear leveling further improves space efficiency. In our experiments, EPET wear leveling prolonged the first bad time up to 328.9% and prolonged the system lifetime up to 305.9%, compared to other techniques.

  • Hand grip strength has been utilized as an indicator to evaluate the motor ability of hands, responsible for performing multiple body functions. It is however difficult to evaluate other factors (other than hand muscular strength) utilizing the hand grip strength only. The purpose of this study was analyzed the motor ability of hands using EMG and the hand grip strength, simultaneously in order to evaluate concentration, muscular strength reaction time, instantaneous muscular strength change, and agility in response to visual reaction. In results, the average time (and their standard deviations) of muscular strength reaction EMG signal and hand grip strength was found to be $209.6{\pm}56.2$ ms and $354.3{\pm}54.6$ ms, respectively. In addition, the onset time which represents acceleration time to reach 90% of maximum hand grip strength, was $382.9{\pm}129.9$ ms. Results in visual reaction (on) indicate the differences in muscular strength agility and concentration of participants in regards to visual reaction.

  • The mechanical endurance is the critical characteristic of Magnetic contactors (MCs), which are widely used in such industrial equipments as elevators, cranes, and factory control rooms in order to close and open the control circuit. Testing time, however, is so long in most cases that some method of reducing the testing period is required. Therefore, the degradation test by the detected vibration of MCs is developed to reduce the testing time in this work. The degradation test data are analyzed and the prediction model is provided. Also, the possibility of this technology for Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) will be shown. This will reduce the period of the product development and raise the reliability of the equipment in power distribution.

  • An inter-propellant seal (IPS) for 75 ton class thrust turbopump was tested. Leakage characteristics were presented with a given range of pressure difference under cryogenic as well as room temperature conditions. For cryogenic tests, liquid nitrogen was used as analogic fluid of liquid oxygen (LOX) while water was used instead of kerosene for room temperature condition. Test results showed that IPS had satisfactory leakage performance. Additionally endurance test was conducted to prove the life time of manufactured IPS and the tested IPS had successfully survived during required life time, 2100 seconds.

  • Postural tremor of the upper arm in a static posture was measured to provide guidelines of hand tool weight. Three types of camera recording postures were selected. Postural tremor was measured on five levels of tool weights; no weight, 400g, 800, 1200g, and 1600g. For each conditions, upper arm postural tremor was measured together with EMG of biceps, deltoid, and pectoralis major, and Borg's CR-20 scale ratings of perceived exertion. Results of the experiment are as follows; Frequency analysis of tremor revealed that increased amplitude of frequency band of 2-4Hz and 10-14Hz was observed. Postural tremor of the upper arm maintained the initial level until fatigue developed. After the development of fatigue, the rate of the change of postural tremor was significantly increased. Different tool weights and hand postures showed different rate of tremor increase. And time to fatigue and the corresponding endurance time was positively correlated with Borg's RPF scores.

  • This paper analyzed md developed flow - shop sequencing heuristic method. The essence of the heuristic approach is in the application of selective routine that reduce the size of a problem. The advantages of this approach are consistency. Speed, endurance and the ability to cope with more data and larger systems than is humanly possible, In recent years many heuristic procedures have been suggested for the flow - shop sequencing problem. Although limited comparisons of these procedures have been made, a full scale test and evaluation have not been reported previously. The maximum flow - time criterion is selected as the evaluation criterion is selected as the evaluation criterion of flow - shop's efficiency. The author evaluated these 3 heuristic method's performance. By the evaluation of the result, we can see that the modified methods produce a shorter maximum flow - time than the original methods.

  • This paper describes the phenomenon of the molten metal bridge theory of the arc discharge at opening contacts. And we analyze the magnetic force and drag force acting on the arc column in the DC magnetic contactor Arc cooling time by the force convection is calculated in the thermal dynamic equation using mean temperature method. Since arc gas lost conduction characteristics below a such temperature, it verify that the process of forming and extinguishing arc is able to analyze in terms of temperature characteristic by simulation and experiments of the 3 types arc extinction unit. It propose the practical simulation method to improve the electrical endurance of dc contactor.

  • Four dimensional(4-D) trajectory modeling is conducted based on flight plan. The flight plan is divided into several segments which represent certain operating flight modes. Thrust, drag and fuel consumption rate of an aircraft are calculated using BADA provided by Eurocontrol. The trajectory is modeled with the rate of climb/descent calculated with Total-Energy Equation. The simulation results with a typical aircraft and its flight plan indicate that the trajectory modeled corresponds well with the suggested flight plan. The performance profiles including total endurance time and time history for speed, thrust, drag and fuel consumption were also appropriately generated.

  • As steel is highly sensitive to temperature variations, fire exposure is more destructive in the case of steel structures in comparison to the concrete ones. The performance of an intermediate three-story steel moment frame with 4 spans was studied under the service load, thermal load and post-earthquake fire in this paper. Also, the effects of passive fire-protection materials such as ordinary cement-based and fire-retardant coatings were investigated. To model and analyze the structure; Abaqus software is utilized. In order to apply the earthquake effect, the push-over analysis method is employed. Changes in the stories deflection, endurance time and growth of nonlinear regions due to losses in the steel stiffness and strength, are among the issues considered in this study. As an interesting finding, the beams protected by ordinary cement-based coating could sustain the fire exposure at least for 30 minutes in all cases. The mentioned time is increased by employing a new fire-retardant protection, which could prevent significant loss in the structure resistance against fire, even after 60 minutes of exposure to fire.
