Based on army operating road profile, the endurance test of military vehicle aims to reproduce the similar loading conditions with mixture of proving ground tracks. It is so called as endurance test mode and its optimal generation is important to meet high reliability of endurance test. In this paper, proving ground optimization is proposed to achieve a close match to the target profile. Several performance measures such as torque-revolution counts or transmission ratio for the powertrain system can be considered as one of the objective functions. However, the one-side optimal endurance test mode may give the poor solution in the whole system point of view. To incorporate several goals simultaneously, this paper employs multi-objective optimization technique to generate endurance test mode. One of the most widely used method, weighted-sum method is applied here and the case study is discussed.
Suspension system of vehicle have enough endurance during its life time to protect passenger. Spring is one of major part of vehicle. Thus, a fatigue strength evaluation for leaf spring based on road load response was carried out. At first, strain of leaf spring is measured on the city condition and proving ground condition. And next, the damage analysis of road load response data was carried out. And fatigue test of leaf spring were also carried out. Based on -N life relation, fatigue life of leaf spring was evaluated at belgian mode, city mode and drawing test specification. After that, it is compared the design life of leaf spring and evaluated fatigue life by belgian mode, city mode and drawing test specification. From the above, the maximum load-fatigue life relation of leaf spring was defined by test. and new test target of belgian mode and city mode was proposed to accept design specification of leaf spring. It is expect that proposed test target can verify leaf spring fatigue endurance at specific road condition.
A military vehicle is driven at different usage modes with the army application and servicing conditions. For practical durability validation, DT(Development Test) on a new military vehicle should be run up to the durability target kilometers on test courses in the specified proving ground. Driving velocities with test courses at the endurance mode of DT are established definitely. However, OT(Operational Test) and initial endurance test of production car can't be performed only in the DT courses due to the development period limit. Therefore, this paper focuses on the method to analyze the relative road damages between the endurance test in DT and other endurance test. Road load acquisition tests on KLTV(Korean Light Tactical Vehicle) were implemented at 15 driving modes in off-road and cross-country courses of two tests. Wheel accelerations were processed through band-pass filter, and then the main frequency and maximum power of the signals were computed by PSD analysis. Finally, using the proving ground optimization based on RDS(Relative Damage Spectrum) characterization, the damage factors between off-roads of test courses were determined.
A new configuration of tiltrotor UAV previously suggested by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) for the purpose of increasing the endurance performance in airplane mode flight has extended wings attached to the nacelle and rotated with the nacelle according to the flight modes. In this research, the effectiveness of the extended wing on the enhancement of the endurance performance of KARI tiltrotor UAV (TR60) was analytically investigated based on CFD analysis results. Flight tests and ground tests of measuring the fuel consumption were also conducted to directly compare the endurance performance for the two configurations of TR60 baseline and TR60 extended-wing model.
Objective: This study was performed to investigate the effects of thoracic joint mobilization and breathing exercises on diaphragmatic thickness, chest expansion, respiratory function, and endurance in patients with chronic stroke. Design: Randomized controlled trial Methods: The study included 24 chronic stroke patients who were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (12 people) performed 15 minutes of thoracic joint mobility exercises and 15 minutes of breathing exercises, three times a week for 6 weeks, 30 minutes each time. The control group (12 people) received 15 minutes of conservative physical therapy and 15 minutes of breathing exercises, 3 times a week for 6 weeks, 30 minutes per session, the same as the experimental group. The experimental and control groups performed the same breathing exercises. To assess training effectiveness, changes in diaphragm thickness, chest expansion, respiratory function, and endurance were measured. Results: As a result, the experimental group exhibited significant improvements in diaphragm thickness, chest expansion, and respiratory function. The endurance mode also displayed significant enhancement (p<0.05), a finding consistent with the control group. However, the experimental group displayed more substantial improvements in non-affected diaphragm thickness and thoracic expansion compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusions: Drawing from these findings, breathing exercise which combine thoracic mobilization, will be actively utilized in addition to physical therapy interventions in clinical trials as an effective intervention method.
Physical tests are performed at various stages of the development cycle of a product, from prototype validation to product qualification. Although costly, there are growing demands for qualification tests like endurance vibration testing to be more representative of the real world. At the same time there are growing demands to assess the durability of these items based on FEA simulation. In this paper, we will explain how to set up a CAE-based test and how to correlate the results with some physical measurements. Specific assumptions will be explained and some advantages of using virtual tests will be highlighted such as the reduction of the number of prototypes needed, investigations on failures, evaluation of the level of reliability via sensitivity analysis, evaluation of the margins are at the end of a successful test. This presentation will therefore focus on explaining and showing how virtual tests can enrich the exploitation of physical tests.
Purpose: Performance recovered from SCR through cleaning was studied, measuring differential pressure, NOx reduction efficiency, fuel consumption and engine power before and after cleaning. Ideal cleaning intervals are proposed based on SCR mileage and differential pressure. SCR endurance and reliability improvements through cleaning were studied through physicochemical testing of SCR durability at 43,000km 50,000km, and 110,000km respectively. Methods: Engine power, fuel consumption and exhaust gas were measured using engine full load tests and ND-13 MODE by installing the SCR before cleaned at total engine mileages of 400,000 km, 300,000km and 200,000km. The same tests were performed after cleaning the SCR catalytic converter. Endurance and reliability of the SCR cleaning was studied through the same test by SCR catalyst after each 43,000km 50,000km, 110,000km, durability test on SCR cleaning. Conclusion: We confirmed the low-performance of the SCR due to clogging is restored by SCR cleaning technology. The NOx reduction efficiency was restored to 82%, 86% and 88% from 69%, 72% and 79%. As well as the NOx reduction efficiency, it was confirmed that the engine power, fuel consumption and back pressure was restored to fresh SCR levels. As a result of the durability and reliability achieved through SCR cleaning, we confined the appearance and reduction efficiency through visual inspection and ND-13 MODE are similar to new SCR catalysts. Finally, it was judged that there was no change in performance even when driving the SCR without cleaning throughout the 100,000 km mileage warranty.
This paper is to design an optimum power conversion device for the system required for development of a low cost 3-phase power inverter. For this purpose, in order to meet with endurance required by the industry, failure mode is standardized to guarantee lifetime of a power semiconductor by monitoring real time power loss and to facilitate failure mode analysis. As normality of heat loss of a power semiconductor is identified remaining in a certain range by comparing heat rise slope between that is calculated by using average current or average loss and that is measured at a heat sink, its feasibility is confirmed by experiment.

For attaining optimum fatigue resistance of PM steels, high density levels are necessary. In this work, sintered steels Fe-1.5%Mo-0.6%C and Fe-1.5%Cr-0.2%Mo-0.6%C were produced with density levels of 7.1 to $7.6\;g.cm^{-3}$. Ultrasonic fatigue testing with 20 kHz was performed in push-pull mode up to 10E9 cycles. It was shown that the fatigue endurance strength is strongly improved by higher density levels, but also higher sintering temperatures are beneficial. The Cr-Mo steels proved to be superior to the plain Mo alloyed, due to a more favourable as-sintered matrix microstructure.
A mechanical press joining was investigated in ender for joining A1-5052 sheets for automobile body weight reduction. Static tensile and fatigue tests were conducted using tensile-shear specimens for evaluation of fatigue strength of the joint. During Tox joining process for A1-5052 plates, using the current sheet thickness and punch diameter, the optimal applied punching force was found to be 32 kN under the current joining condition. For the static tensile-shear experiment results, the fracture mode is classified into interface fracture mode, in which the neck area fractured due to influence of neck thickness, and pull-out fracture mode due to influence of plastic deformation of the joining area. And, during fatigue tests for the A1-5052 tensile shear specimens, interface failure mode occurred in the region of low cycle. The fatigue endurance limit approached to 6 percents of the maximum applied load, considering fatigue lifetime of $2.5\times10^6$ cycles.
