  • This study operated a mentoring program for future librarians and analyzed its effectiveness. As a result, first, the final goals of mentees were much more focused and specific in comparison with their initial goals, and the types of objectives they set for themselves became more in depth and subdivided. Second, the employment performance of the mentoring program was measured by comparing with the employment rate of students who had not participated in mentoring programs, and found that the employment rate of students scheduled to graduate who participated in the mentoring program was 83.33%, which is very high. Third, we compared the mentoring semester grades with the grades before mentoring; students' average score was 3.75 before mentoring, while after mentoring their average score improved slightly to 3.84. However, it was revealed that improvement is necessary in terms of mentoring period length and amount of supervision.

The findings show that involuntary job changers lend to suffer greater loss in job spell and real wage than voluntary job changers, which seems to reflect their characteristics such as lower quality of job matching due to unsystematic job search, negative signaling effect in the labor market and decreasing availability of human capital in previous job. In addition, unemployment benefit eligible for involuntary job changers tends to prolong the period of unemployment, while increasing job spell in the following employment.

  • Domestic SMEs play a key role in production and employment, accounting for 98.9% of total enterprises, 74.4% of employment, 50.8% of production, and 49.0% of value added (as of 2016). However, they are faced with difficulties of survival because of continuous decrease in profitability, shortage of funds and manpower, insufficient accumulation of technology, minimum wage increase, and 52-hour workweek. In order for SMEs to continue to develop in such a difficult environment, we must constantly innovate our organization by making full use of our knowledge, information, experience and ability. To do this, CEO (management) leadership is very important to ensure that the best people are focused on the organizational innovation and management performance without moving the company. In this study, we wanted to establish empirically how the newly emerging compassionate rationalism leadership of SMEs business managers affected the innovation activities and management performance of companies. Research has shown that management's compassionate rationalism leadership has a positive and significant causal relationship with the innovation activities and management performance of the enterprise. Therefore, SMEs managers need to learn the bottom eight strategic factors of compassionate rationalism leadership and use them strategically to make efforts to create positive emotions for the organization so that members can be immersed in innovative activities and management performance creation.

As the proportion of knowledge service industry in the economy and the related employment rate are continuously growing, it is necessary to bring innovation to the industry in order to increase competitiveness. In this study, the innovation types are diversified into product, process, organization, and marketing and the influencing factors have been analyzed with knowledge service firms. The complex causal relationship that is linked to the innovation performance has been analyzed by the structural equation with each innovation types as the intervening variables. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. The innovation capacity of firms in knowledge service industry has very strong positive effects either directly or indirectly on product innovation, process innovation, organizational innovation, marketing innovation, and the revenue and employment of the firm. On the other hand, innovation support policy through government intervention produce negative impact on product innovation and they do not create meaningful impact on the total effect on the revenue nor the employment growth. The innovation should ultimately create effects on the revenue and the employment of the firm. And the government support policies should be carefully designed in consideration of the final destination point of this complex causal structure.

  • The South Korean government invested about 560 billion won in research and development in the wind power sector over 30 years from 1989 to 2019. In addition, the government has been setting up conditions for the country's wind industry to grow through various policies, including the RPS (Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard). As a result, the size of Korea's wind industry has grown to 1.1 trillion won in annual sales and there are 2,000 people working in the wind energy sector. While the domestic market is weak due to the small size of Korea and there are problems with the NIMBY, the government has continued to support technology developments and support market policies. Despite insufficient performance in overseas markets, the effect of the government is still significant on the growth of the wind industry. In particular, the government's R&D investment program, which focuses on enhancing companies' competitiveness, has spurred job creation in the wind industry and a stable research environment for researchers. In this study, we compared the differences between methods of investigating employment statistics in Korea and those of other countries. We also proposed effective investment measures for the government by analyzing the investment effects according to value chain and types of organization.
