Subjects were 412 5-years-old children and their mothers in Busan. The children responded to the Peer Nomination Inventory to assess peer acceptance and their teachers completed the EAS(Emotionality, Activity, Sociability), to assess the emotional intelligence and social behavior of the children. Mothers completed Eysenck Personality Questionnaire for personality traits and the Parental Involvement Checklist. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and simple and multiple regression analyses. The results showed that emotional intelligence of young children had a relatively significant effect on peer acceptance, followed by personality traits of mother's extraversion, the temperament of activity, and the management strategy of mediation-supervision. In conclusion, young children and their mother's variables have a complex, rather than simple, effect on peer acceptance of the children.

  • Research has been conducted in many fields to identify research trends using text mining, but in the field of emotional labor, no research has been conducted using text mining to identify research trends. This study uses text mining to deeply analyze 1,465 papers at the Korea Citation Index (KCI) from 2004 to 2019 containing the subject word 'emotional labor' to understand the trend of emotional labor researches. Topics were extracted by LDA analysis, and IDM analysis was performed to confirm the proportion and similarity of the topics. Through these methods, an integrated analysis of topics was conducted considering the usefulness of topics with high similarity. The research topics are divided into 11 categories in descending order: stress of emotional labor (12.2%), emotional labor and social support (12.0%), customer service workers' emotional labor (10.9%), emotional labor and resilience (10.2%), emotional labor strategy (9.2%), call center counselor's emotional labor (9.1%), results of emotional labor (9.0%), emotional labor and job exhaustion (7.9%), emotional intelligence (7.1%), preliminary care service workers' emotional labor (6.6%), emotional labor and organizational culture (5.9%). • The purpose of this study was to examine the use of emotional regulation strategies of 3-year-old infants in frustrating situations and the correlation between infants' emotional strategies and their mothers' responsive strategies. In the current study, 33 dyads of infant-mother were observed in the laboratory. Stansbury and Sigman's (2000) experimental instrument was revised and complemented according to Korean culture, and it was categorized into 5 measures for infants' use of emotional regulation strategies in frustrating situations and their mothers' responsive strategies: comforting, instrumental, cognitive reappraisal, distraction, and others. As a result, infants' emotional regulation strategies and their mothers' responsive strategies were categorized as 5 such strategies. The findings of this study showed that 3-year-old infants used complex strategies including cognitive reappraisal. They used instrumental strategy most during a 'clean up' frustrating situation and distraction strategy during a 'candy given then denied' situation. There was significant correlation between infants' emotional regulation strategies and their mothers' responsive strategies.

  • This study is to examine the effects of emotion regulation strategies in facial expressions and emotional experiences, based on the facial expressions of groups, using antecedent- and response- focused regulation. 50 female undergraduate students were instructed to use different emotion regulation strategies during the viewing of a disgust inducing film. While watching, their facial expressions and emotional experiences were measured. As a result, participants showed the highest frequency of action units related to disgust in the EG(expression group), and they reported in the following order of DG(expressive dissonance group), CG(cognitive reappraisal group), and SG(expressive suppression group). Also, the upper region of the face reflected real emotions. In this region, the frequency of action units related to disgust were lower in the CG than in the EG or DG. The results of the PANAS indicated the largest decrease of positive emotions reported in the DG, but an increase of positive emotions reported in the CG. This study suggests that cognitive reappraisal to an event is a more functional emotion regulation strategy compared to other strategies related to facial expression and emotional experience that affect emotion regulation strategies.

  • This study examined the effects of siblings, emotional intelligence (E.I.), and conflict solving strategies (integrating-compromising strategy/ dominating strategy) on children's social competence. The subjects were 421 6th graders (231 boys, 190 girls) in Seoul. The children filled out questionnaires on their siblings, E.I., and conflict solving strategies. Their teachers were asked to rate the children's social competence. Mediational analyses were conducted using structural equation modeling. Both integrating-compromising strategies and dominating strategies mediated the relationship between E.I. and social competence. Children with higher E.I. reported that they used more integrating-compromising strategies, which in turn was related to higher social competence. Those who scored low on E.I. reported that they used more dominating strategies, which in turn was related to lower social competence. Although the effects of siblings did not have any direct effects on social competence, it was found to be related to the type of conflict solving strategies most frequently used. Compared to the children with siblings, the children without siblings used more dominating strategies, which in turn contributed to lower social competence.

  • Previous researches related to emotional labor have been cross-sectional studies focusing on static differences in emotional exhaustion. Previous studies on these relationships have not highlighted the dynamic properties of these relationships. This purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of emotional labor strategy on perceived emotional exhaustion and depression. This study was conducted by paying attention to the fact that service industry workers who have to respond kindly to customers often have to show emotions which is necessary for their business to the outside world rather than showing their true emotions. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, it was confirmed that surface acting had a positive influence on emotional exhaustion, but deep acting had a negative influence to emotional exhaustion. Second, it was found that surface acting had a positive influence on depression, but deep acting had a negative influence on depression. Third, it was confirmed that the effect of deep acting on emotional exhaustion decreased when emotional labor was performed through deep acting on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, while emotional exhaustion was not significant on Thursdays and Fridays. Fourth, it was confirmed that the difference in the effect of emotional labor strategy on depression was greater in the case of performing emotional labor through surface acting than in the case of performing emotional labor through deep acting.
