우울 및 불안장애 환자에서 신체 통증과 관련된 인지정서조절전략 (The Relationship Between Somatic Pain and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies in Patients with Depression and Anxiety Disorder)

  • Objective : Emotional state and emotion regulation strategies are considered to be important factors influencing the pattern and severity of somatic pain. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between cognitive emotional regulation strategies and somatic pain in patients with depression and/or anxiety disorders. Methods : A total of 140 outpatients, diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety disorders according to DSM-IV-TR, were evaluated using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), and the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) for somatic pain. Pearson correlations and independent t-tests were performed to analyze the relationship between somatic pain, the severity of depression and/or anxiety and cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Results : The severity of pain was significantly correlated with depressive symptoms, but not with anxiety. Patients with somatic pain tend to use maladaptive cognitive emotion regulating strategies more frequently, especially rumination and catastrophizing. Conclusion : These findings suggest that somatic pain correlates with maladaptive cognitive emotional regulating strategies. Interventions which modulate these non-productive strategies, especially rumination and catastrophizing, would be a new approach for managing patients with depressive and/or anxiety disorders who are suffering from somatic pain.

Investigating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms, Emotional Dysregulation and Family Functioning in Children: A Community-Based Study in Elementary Schools in Surabaya, Indonesia

  • Objectives: Research on emotional dysregulation related to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and its effects on family functioning in children is scarce. This is the first study conducted in Indonesia to examine the intricate relationships between ADHD symptoms, emotional regulation, and family functioning in children. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted involving primary caregivers of children aged 9-13 years old across three elementary schools in Surabaya, using validated questionnaires comprising the Indonesian ADHD Rating Scale, Emotion Regulation Checklist, and Family APGAR scale. Results: The findings revealed a positive association between ADHD features and the emotional lability/negativity subscale (ERLN) (r=0.528; p<0.001), but not the emotion regulation subscale (EREG). Moreover, family functioning positively correlated with ERLN (r=-0.269; p=0.003) and negatively correlated with EREG (r=0.331; p<0.001). Parental education emerged as a significant demographic factor, with higher education levels linked to better emotion regulation (r=0.297; p=0.001). Conclusion: These findings underscore the importance of addressing ADHD symptoms and emotional dysregulation in children in order to enhance family functioning and overall well-being. Implications for future research and interventions targeting emotion regulation, especially in children with ADHD and their families, are also discussed.

부적응 도식과 결혼 만족도 간의 관계: 적응적 정서조절방략의 조절 효과 (The Relationship between Maladjustment Schema and Marital Satisfaction: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Adaptive Emotion Regulation Strategy)

  • 본 연구는 부적응 도식과 결혼만족도의 관계에서 인지적 정서조절방략, 행동적 정서조절방략, 그리고 체험적 정서조절방략 각각의 조절효과를 검증해 보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 기혼 남성 102명, 여성 131명으로 모두 233명이며, 부적응 도식 질문지, 정서조절방략 질문지(Emotion Regulation Strategy Questionnaire: ERSQ), 결혼만족도 척도를 사용하여 설문을 실시하였다. 또한, 부적응 도식과 결혼만족도 간의 관계에서 인지적, 행동적, 체험적 정서조절방략의 조절 효과를 확인하기 위해서 위계적 중다 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 부적응 도식과 결혼만족도 간 관계에서 적응적 정서조절방략(인지적, 행동적, 체험적)의 조절 효과가 유의미하게 나타났다. 각 부적응 도식 영역마다 이 3가지의 정서조절방략의 효과가 달리 나타났는데, 먼저 손상된 자율성과 타인 중심성의 부적응 도식 영역은 인지적, 행동적, 체험적 3가지 방략 모두에서 조절 효과를 보여, 이 3가지 방략들을 사용할수록 더 높은 결혼만족도를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 단절 및 거절의 부적응 도식 영역을 지닌 개인의 경우 인지적, 행동적 방략을 사용할수록, 과잉 경계 및 억제의 부적응 도식 영역을 지닌 개인은 인지적, 체험적 방략을 사용할수록 높은 결혼만족도를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 게다가 손상된 한계의 부적응 도식 영역을 지닌 개인은 체험적 방략을 사용할 경우에만 높은 결혼만족도를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 임상적 함의와 한계 및 후속연구에서의 제안을 논의하였다.

정서, 가정환경, 학교환경이 중학생의 자기조절학습에 미치는 영향: 동기조절 행동조절 중심으로 (The effects of emotion, home environment, school environment on self-regulated learning: focusing on motivational and behavioral regulation)

  • 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 한국아동 청소년패널조사(KCYPS)의 초등학교 4학년 패널이 중학교 2학년이 된 5차년도 자료를 사용하여 정서, 가정환경, 학교환경이 자기조절학습의 구인인 동기조절과 행동조절에 미치는 영향력을 분석하였다. 95개교 2070명의 중학교 2학년생을 대상으로 조사한 정서, 가정환경, 학교환경과 동기조절, 행동조절과의 상관분석과 정서, 가정환경, 학교환경을 독립변인으로 하고 동기조절과 행동조절을 종속변인으로 하여 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정서, 가정환경, 학교환경과 동기조절, 행동조절과는 유의한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정서는 자기조절학습의 동기조절과 행동조절을 잘 설명하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 가정환경 변인 중 물리적 환경변인인 부의 최종학력 및 직업 그리고 가구연간소득은 동기조절과 행동조절에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 학생이 지각한 가정경제수준과 심리적 환경변인인 부모의 관심과 학대는 동기조절과 행동조절에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 학교환경이 동기조절과 행동조절의 가장 큰 설명력을 가지며 학습활동, 학교규칙, 교우관계와 교사관계 모두가 동기조절과 행동조절에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 연구결과에 따라 자기조절학습에 영향을 미치는 변인에 대한 다각적인 연구의 필요성을 시사한다.

유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 정서코칭 평가도구 타당화 (Validation of the Maternal Emotion Coaching Questionnaire for Mothers of Preschool Children)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to test the psychometric properties of the Maternal Emotion Coaching Questionnaire (MECQ, Lim et al., 2018) in order to measure emotion coaching in mothers of preschoolers. Methods: A total of 316 preschoolers and their mothers participated in this study. Maternal emotion coaching was assessed by self-report and child emotion regulation ability was evaluated by the teacher. Data were analyzed with chi-square tests, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, latent profile analysis, and F-test. Results: Each item of the MECQ showed proper discriminative power. The MECQ and each subscale demonstrated adequate internal consistency and split-half reliability. Evidence of construct validity was provided by confirmatory factor analysis. The five-factor model including maternal attention, awareness, acceptance, empathy, and guidance showed a good fit. Results of the latent profile analysis revealed three profiles of emotion coaching: excellent, good, and poor. Preschoolers with mothers in the poor coaching profile showed significantly lower emotion regulation ability compared to those in the excellent or good coaching profiles, which suggested discriminative validity of the MECQ. Conclusion/Implications: The MECQ presents a reliable and valid tool to assess emotion coaching in mothers of preschool children and can thus be effectively used for mothers of preschoolers.

고객접점직원의 고객무례경험이 서비스 성과에 미치는 효과: 감정소진과 정서조절역량의 역할을 중심으로 (The Effect of Frontline Employees' Experienced Customer Incivility on Service Performance)

  • Purpose - The present study examines the effect of service employees' experienced customer incivility through their emotional exhaustion. We identified service employees' emotion regulation ability as a boundary condition (i.e., moderating variable) that decreased the positive relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and their emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, we also investigated the negative relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and their service performance via emotional exhaustion. Research design, data, and methodology - Drawing on AET (affective event theory) and COR (conservation of resources) theory, we developed three research hypotheses (i.e., mediation, moderation, and moderated mediation). Online panel survey data from 552 frontline employees at several service organizations (e.g., department stores, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, airlines, banking, insurance company, and etc) in South Korea were examined. To assess two types of validity (i.e., convergent and discriminant validity) and reliability of measurement model, we employed the CFA (confirmatory factor analysis) using M-plus 8.2 software. Internal consistency also was tested by Cronbach' α. In addition, we employed the SPSS PROCESS MACRO 2.16, which was recommended by Hayes (2013, 2015), to estimate mediation, moderation, and moderated mediation effects. Results - As predicted, the negative relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and their service performance was mediated by emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, service employees' emotion regulation ability also played a significant moderating role of the relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and emotional exhaustion, such that this relationship was less pronounced when service employees had a high level of their emotion regulation ability than when thir emotion regulation ability was low. Service employees' emotion regulation ability further moderated this mediation effect of service employees' experienced customer incivility on service performance through emotional exhaustion. These findings have theoretical implications for employees' experienced customer incivility and emotion regulation ability research and provide managerial implications for practitioners. Conclusions - This study empirically elaborated the previous model of service employees' experienced customer incivility and personal resource (e.g., emotion regulation ability) literature by presenting the findings that service employees' experienced customer incivility influences their service performance via emotional exhaustion and that emotion regulation ability effectively reduces this negative effect.

병원간호사의 인지적 정서조절전략이 전문직 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies on the Professional Quality of Life in Hospital Nurses)

  • 본 연구는 병원 간호사의 인지적 정서조절전략과 전문직 삶의 질의 정도를 확인하고 전문직 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인을 알아보기 위해서 수행되었다. 연구 대상자는 서울 소재 일개 대학병원에서 근무하고 있는 일반 간호사 176명으로, 2020년 3월 3일에서 16일까지 구조화된 온라인 설문지를 통하여 자료수집 하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS WIN version 25.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Multiple regression analysis 로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 공감만족에 영향을 미치는 요인은 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략(β=.501, p<.001)이었고, 설명력은 24.8%였다. 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인은 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략(β=-.435, p<.001), 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략(β=.427, p<.001), 학력(학사)(β=.188, p=.046)이었으며, 설명력은 36.8%였다. 대상자의 이차 외상성 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략(β=.502, p<.001)이었으며, 설명력은 24.4%였다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략을 습득하고 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략을 덜 사용하도록 하는데 초점을 맞추어 병원 간호사의 전문직 삶의 질 향상을 도모하기 위한 프로그램 개발이 필요하다.

혐오자극에 대한 정서조절전략이 얼굴표정 및 정서경험에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Emotion Regulation Strategy to the Disgust Stimulus on Facial Expression and Emotional Experience)

  • 본 연구는 혐오정서 유발자극에 대한 선행사건초점 조절전략과 반응초점 조절전략이 얼굴표정 및 정서경험에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구는 여자 대학생 50명을 대상으로 실시되었고, 참여자들이 혐오정서 유발동영상을 시청할 때 서로 다른 정서조절전략(정서 표현, 표현 억제, 인지적 재평가, 표현 불일치)을 사용하도록 하여 얼굴표정과 정서경험을 측정하였다. 분석결과, 정서 표현집단에서 혐오표현단위의 빈도가 가장 높았고 표현 불일치, 인지적 재평가, 표현 억제집단의 순으로 빈도가 높게 나타났다. 그리고 실제 경험한 정서를 반영하는 얼굴 윗부분에서 인지적 재평가집단의 혐오관련표현단위의 빈도가 정서 표현집단과 표현 불일치집단보다 낮게 나타났다. 자기보고식 정서 상태 측정결과, 표현 불일치집단에서 가장 많이 긍정정서가 감소한 반면, 인지적 재평가집단에서는 긍정정서가 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 본 연구는 정서조절전략이 얼굴표정 및 정서경험에 미친 영향을 통해 인지적 재평가전략이 가장 기능적인 정서조절전략임을 확인하였다.

콜센터 근로자의 직무 스트레스 수준에 따른 인지적 대처전략 (A Study on the Cognitive Coping Strategies by Job Stress Level of Call Center Workers)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the job stress level of call center workers and figure out its relation with cognitive emotion regulation strategies as a cognitive coping strategy. Methods: Data collection was conducted on 985 call center workers, working for K companies in Korea. ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe's test and multiple regression have been conducted for the data analysis using SAS 9.0 software. Results: The total job stress score of subjects ranges $Q_{25{\sim}49}$ (the lower 50%) whereas the score of job demand and job control ranges $Q_{50{\sim}74}$ (the upper 50%), and its sectional job stress level is high. Since job stress is the major factor affecting cognitive emotion regulation strategies, it is shown that when the job stress score gets higher, the score of positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies gets decreased but the score of negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies, increased. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and apply an effective stress easing method for call center workers which reduces negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies and increases positive ones.

아동의 부정적 정서표현에 대한 어머니 반응이 또래관계에 미치는 영향에서 아동의 공감과 정서조절 방식의 매개효과 (The Effect of Mother's Reactions to Children's Negative Emotions on Children's Peer Relations : The Mediating Role of Children's Empathy and Emotional Regulation Types)

  • The study examined the pathways from maternal reactions to children's negative emotions to children's peer relations through children's empathy and emotional regulation. The participants in this study comprised 463 elementary school 4th-6th graders. They completed questionnaires on maternal reactions to children's negative emotions, levels of children's empathy, maladaptive emotion regulation types and skill levels of children's peer relations. Data were analyzed by means of structural equation modeling. It was found that in the case of maternal emotion coaching reactions, when done indirectly, as well as directly, had an influence on their levels of peer relations. On the other hand, in the case of over-sensitive maternal reactions, when done indirectly, but not directly, had an influence on their levels of peer relations. Therefore, these results indicate that children's empathy mediated the effects of maternal emotion coaching and over-sensitive reactions on peer relations. It also found that there are distinct pathways from maternal reaction types to children's negative emotions to peer relations through empathy and maladaptive emotion regulation types.
