Purpose: This study examined Korean nurses' job attitude (i.e., satisfaction and burnout) regarding the extent to which organization's emotion display rule influences on job attitudes through emotion-related variables (i.e., negative emotion suppress behavior and inauthenticity), thereby examining mediation effects of negative emotion suppress behavior and inauthenticity. Method: Using a survey to nurses working in various general hospitals in Korea, structural equation modeling was adopted. Result: Emotion display rule affected outcome variables but these effects were mostly observed via the two mediators, negative emotion suppress and inauthenticity, which largely supports the research model. Conclusion: Individuals who perceived stronger emotional display rule suppressed more their negative emotion, and also perceived more inauthenticity. In turn, negative emotion suppress behavior only affected job burnout positively. Inauthenticity showed a negative effect on job satisfaction while it had a positive effect on burnout. The study provided directions for future research and practical implications to help nurses' effective job performance.

In this paper, we introduces contents about the emotion recognition and character display expressing emotion. In this paper, we proposes on things like how to search characteristic parameters expressing user emotion, how to deduce emotion through pattern matching algorithm. Also, we implemented display platform recognizing the caller's emotion over internet phone. It display character animations expressing emotion as the result deduced by emotion recognition algorithm.

The purpose of this study is to design an authoring tool and a corresponding device for an olfactory display that can augment the immersion and reality in broadcasting services. The developed authoring tool allows an olfactory display to be properly synchronized with the existing video service by applying the standardized format using ISO/IEC 23005 (MPEG-V) and the corresponding developed scent display device. To propose the proper data format for the olfactory display, we have analyzed both the multimodal combination and the cross-modality related to the olfactory display. From the results of the analysis, we derived a set of olfactory parameters for the olfactory display that are related to emotion. The analyzed parameters related to emotion in an olfactory display are synchronization, scent intensity, scent persistence, and hedonic tone. These parameters should be controlled so that the olfactory display can be in harmony with the existing media to augment emotion. In addition, we developed a scent display device that can generate many kinds of scents and that satisfies design conditions for olfactory parameters that are for use with broadcasting services.

Human emotions are expressed in various ways. It can be expressed through language, facial expression and gestures. In particular, the facial expression contains many information about human emotion. These vague human emotion appear not in single emotion, but in combination of various emotion. This paper proposes a emotional expression algorithm using Active Appearance Model(AAM) and Fuzz k- Nearest Neighbor which give facial expression in similar with vague human emotion. Applying Mahalanobis distance on the center class, determine inclusion level between center class and each class. Also following inclusion level, appear intensity of emotion. Our emotion recognition system can recognize a complex emotion using Fuzzy k-NN classifier.

Understanding of human emotion has a high importance in interaction between human and machine communications systems. The most expressive and valuable way to extract and recognize the human's emotion is by facial expression analysis. This paper presents and implements an automatic extraction and recognition scheme of facial expression and emotion through still image. This method has three main steps to recognize the facial emotion: (1) Detection of facial areas with skin-color method and feature maps, (2) Creation of the Bezier curve on eyemap and mouthmap, and (3) Classification and distinguish the emotion of characteristic with Hausdorff distance. To estimate the performance of the implemented system, we evaluate a success-ratio with emotional face image database, which is commonly used in the field of facial analysis. The experimental result shows average 76.1% of success to classify and distinguish the facial expression and emotion.

Understanding and classification of the human's emotion play an important tasks in interacting with human and machine communication systems. This paper proposes a novel emotion recognition method by extracting facial keypoints, which is able to understand and classify the human emotion, using active Appearance Model and the proposed classification model of the facial features. The existing appearance model scheme takes an expression of variations, which is calculated by the proposed classification model according to the change of human facial expression. The proposed method classifies four basic emotions (normal, happy, sad and angry). To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we assess the ratio of success with common datasets, and we achieve the best 93% accuracy, average 82.2% in facial emotion recognition. The results show that the proposed method effectively performed well over the emotion recognition, compared to the existing schemes.

The purpose of this study was to investigate parental emotion regulation and children's understanding of emotional display rules. 31 boys and 29 girls of the first and fourth grades and their parents were selected for the subject. Sixty children were interviewed on eight interpersonal conflict situations and parent completed the PACES(Saarni, 1985) separately. The main results of this study were as follows. 1) Children's understanding of emotional display rules increased with age. 2) Children's primary justification for using emotional display rules was self-protective one. Girls used more often prosocial justification than boys. 3) Parental emotion regulation was significantly different between the two contexts: a child might cause another person substantial emotional distress and a child didn't cause another person substantial emotional distress. 4) Parental regulation was differed by children's age in the context that the child might cause another person substantial emotional distress. 5) Father's regulation was differed by children's sex in the context that the child might cause another person substantial emotional distress. 6) Maternal regulation was positively correlated to the level of emotional display rules in the context that the child might cause another person substantial emotional distress.

In the present study, we investigated the physiological effects of smartphone use at night when the display luminance and white balance were differently manipulated. Two levels of luminance and two types of white balance were combined to form four types of displays. Subjects were instructed to use smartphones between 23:00 to 01:00 twice a week for two weeks, and for each trial, subjects were given one of the four display types. Melatonin concentration in the saliva, body temperature and heart rate were measured before and after each experiment. The experimental result showed that the low luminance display supported melatonin secretion and thermoregulation compared to the high luminance display. With regard to the white balance, higher melatonin level was observed when using the display that filtered blue light. The low luminance display together with yellowish tint best supported restful sleep at night in terms of every physiological response. This study collectively demonstrates that bright and blue light emitted from smartphone displays adversely affect melatonin secretion, body temperature, and heart rate, and therefore, suggests the use of a display with low luminance or a display that filters blue light for a restful sleep at night.
