The purpose of this study is analysis to vehicle's fuel economy and emission gas characteristics by fuel type. The test vehicle were selected to similar weight and performance, the test vehicle was used three representative mode(CVS-75, HWFET and NEDC) in order to evaluation fuel economy and emission gas. For reference, environment pollution cost was calculated on the basis of the exhaust emissions occurred in the test in progress.
A solar collector surface coated with a low emission material is still imported from other developed countries expensively. Thus it is very significant to develop a new coating method with a cheap alternative coating material instead of the imported high-cost collector surface. A thermal spray method was adopted to coat a cheap Titania on a copper plate. Generally, a new coating on the copper plate was conducted successfully by selecting a proper ratio of carbon and acetylene. By measuring an absorption rate of solar and heat emission rate, all the plate types gained a high absorption rate of 98% approximately, more or less, but all of the types still have a high emission. Finally it was clear that more research is needed to advance the coated-plate to subdue the high emission from the hot plate surface and the higher the Titania's proportion is, the lower the emission is on the surface.

This study aims at enhancing the objective estimation of social cost of air quality due to mobile emission. More specifically, it examines the difference between the daily oriented and hourly oriented estimation results of social air quality cost and draws implications from the comparative analysis. The result indicates that the social cost of air quality differs up to approximately 24 times depending on the analysis time period. Moneywise, the difference between daily and hourly assignments amounts to the average of 653.5 billion won whereas only 1% of error occurred in the estimation result based on peak and nonpeak based hourly assignment. This study reaffirms the need for time-based travel demand management for emission reduction, and confirms the feasibility of emission estimation by travel demand forecasting method over the conventional method employed by the CAPSS.

The carbon dioxide($CO_2$) emissions that result from construction are one of the main factors causing a global warming problem. It is therefore necessary to make efforts to reduce $CO_2$ emissions in the construction industry. Some researchers have studied $CO_2$ emissions in the industry ; however, there has been a lack of study on $CO_2$ emissions cost. Therefore, in this study, the construction costs, including the $CO_2$ emission cost, of masonry wall type, which is a common brick wall, concrete brick wall, and fired brick wall, were examined. The purpose of this study is to compare the construction costs of masonry wall types, including $CO_2$ emission costs. The study found that the $CO_2$ emission costs were highest for the fired brick wall, followed by the concrete brick wall. This research could provide basic information that can be used in other engineering methods to convert $CO_2$ emissions to $CO_2$ emission cost.
This study examines the contribution level of greenhouse gas(GHG) emission reduction and installation costs of renewable energy facilities. The GHG emission forecasts and industrial structures in the 16 regions of Korea are then analyzed to identify the proper supply of renewable energy sources for each region. The results show that water power is the most effective and efficient renewable energy source to reduce GHG emissions, followed by sunlight, wind power, geothermal heat, and solar heat, respectively. The 16 regions are then categorized into 4 groups based on their GHG emission forecast and industrial structure: high emission and manufacturing group, low emission and manufacturing group, low emission and service group, and high emission and service group. The proper supply of renewable energy sources for each group is then determined based on the contribution level and cost efficiency of GHG emission reduction.

Of the emissive display technologies, field emission displays using pasted carbon nanotubes offer several advantages over other competing cathode materials such as low driving voltage, possible large-area and low-cost processes. In this study, formulation of carbon nanotube paste and its electron field emission properties are characterized. Also the effects of additive powders and surface morphology on electron emission are reported.

This study presents a sustainable design method to optimize the embodied energy and $CO_2$ emission complying with the design code for reinforced concrete column. The sustainable design method effectively achieves the minimization of the environmental load and energy consumption whereas the conventional design method has been mostly focused on the cost saving. Failure of reinforced concrete column exhibits compressive or tensile failure mode against an external force such as flexure and compression; thus, optimization analyses are conducted for both failure modes. For the given sections and reinforcement ratios, the optimized sections are determined by optimizing cost, embodied energy, and $CO_2$ emission and various aspects of the sections are thoroughly investigated. The optimization analysis results show that 25% embodied energy and 55% $CO_2$ emission can be approximately reduced by 10% increase in cost. In particular, the embodied energy and $CO_2$ emission were more effectively reduced in the tensile failure mode rather than in the compressive failure mode. Consequently, it was proved that the sustainable design method effectively implements the concept of sustainable development in the design of reinforced concrete structure by optimizing embodied energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission.
The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction in district energy business mainly based on Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. Firstly this paper compares the actual carbon intensity of power production between conventional power plants and district energy plants. To allocate the GHG from CHP plants, two of different methods which were Alternative Generation Method and Power Bonus Method, have been investigated. The carbon intensity of power production in district energy plants ($0.43tonCO_2e/MWh$) was relatively lower than conventional gas-fired power plants ($0.52tonCO_2e/MWh$). Secondly we assessed the cost effectiveness of reduction by district energy sector compared to the other means using TIMES model method. We find that GHG marginal abatement cost of 'expand CHP' scenario (-$134/ton$CO_2$) is even below than renewable energy scenario such as photovoltaic power generation ($87/ton$CO_2$). Finally the GHG emission reduction potential was reviewed on the projected GHG emission emitted when the same amount of energy produced in combination of conventional power plants and individual boilers as substitution of district energy. It showed there were 10.1~41.8% of GHG emission reduction potential in district energy compared to the combination of conventional power plants and individual boilers.

This study organizes scenarios on the power supply and demand plans considering the uncertainties and the portion of distributed energy resources. In analysing the scenarios, it estimates total electricity supply cost in the social aspect, natural gas demand and air pollutants emission including carbon dioxide. Also the analysis is performed to estimate the marginal cost of carbon dioxide reduction for the fuel switching from coal to liquified natural gas. In result, the social cost could be decreased by replacing some portion of renewable energy by LNG-based combined heat and power and delaying the construction of large base-load generators such as coal and nuclear plants. The marginal carbon dioxide reduction cost by fuel switching is in plausible range for fuel switching to be an option for carbon dioxide emission reduction when the social cost is considered.

This paper presents a generation rescheduling method for the enhancement of transient stability in power systems. The priority and the candidate generators for rescheduling are calculated by using the energy margin sensitivity. The generation rescheduling formulates the Lagrangian function with the fuel cost and emission such as NOx and SOx from power plants. The generation rescheduling searches for the solution that minimizes the Lagrangian function by using the Newton’s approach. While the Pareto optimum in the fuel cost and emission minimization has a drawback of finding a number of non-dominated solutions, the proposed approach can explore the non-inferior solutions of the multiobjective optimization problem more efficiently. The method proposed is applied to a 4-machine 6-bus system to demonstrate its effectiveness.
