In this paper, an effective power flow control strategy (PFCS) based on the centralized control approach and a DC-link (DCV) restoration algorithm for DC microgrid (DCMG) are presented. By investigating the statuses of system power units, eleven operating modes are given to ensure the system power balance under various conditions. To avoid the system power imbalance caused by the delay of grid fault detection, a reliable DCV restoration algorithm is proposed. In the proposed scheme, when an abnormal variation of the DCV is detected, the battery instantly starts a local emergency control mode to restore the DCV to the nominal value regardless of the control mode from the central controller. The simulations and experiments are carried out to prove the effectiveness of the PFCS and the proposed DCV restoration algorithm.

This paper presents a numerical simulation study of the transient behavior of a $2{\times}340MW$ pump-turbine power plant, where the results show an unstable behavior at runaway. First, the modeling of hydraulic components based on equivalent schemes is presented. Then, the 2 pump-turbine test case is presented. The transient behavior of the power plant is simulated for a case of emergency shutdown with servomotor failure on Unit 1. Unstable operation at runaway with a period of 15 seconds is properly simulated using a 1-dimensional approach. The simulation results points out a switch after 200 seconds of the unstable behavior between a period of oscillations initially of 15 seconds to a period of oscillation of 2.16 seconds corresponding to the hydraulic circuit first natural period. The pressure fluctuations related to both the rigid and elastic water column mode are presented for oscillation mode characterization. This phenomenon is described as a switch between a rigid and an elastic water column oscillation mode. The influence of the rotating inertia on the switch phenomenon is investigated through a parametric study.

Since the introduction of electronically controlled engines and electric propulsion ships, the need for an uninterruptible power supply for emergency power supply devices that use batteries has gained importance. The bidirectional converter in such emergency power supply devices is a crucial component. This paper proposes, a topology for an improved DC-DC bidirectional converter that is characterized by a high voltage conversion ratio and low voltage stress of switches. To confirm the performance of the converter, a computer simulation was executed with PSIM software. The conversion ratio of the proposed converter was found to be four times higher than the conventional boost converter in step-up mode and one-fourth that of the conventional buck converter in step-down mode, and the voltage stress of the switches was one-fourth of the high-side voltage. Moreover, the proposed converter was confirmed to be able to distribute equal currents between two interleaved modules without using any extra current-sharing control method because of the charge balance of its blocking capacitors.

In this paper, we proposed a readout circuit of pulse waveform and rate for a U-health system to monitor health condition. For long-time operation without replacing or charging a battery, either pulse waveform or pulse rate is selected as the output data of the proposed readout circuit according to health condition of a user. The proposed readout circuit consists of a simple digital logic discriminator and a dual-mode ADC which operates in the ADC mode or in the count mode. Firstly, the readout circuit counts pulse rate for 4 seconds in the count mode using the dual-mode ADC. Health condition is examined after the counted pulse rate is accumulated for 1 minute in the discriminator. If the pulse rate is out of the preset normal range, the dual-mode ADC operates in the ADC mode where pulse waveform is converted into 10-bit digital data with the sampling frequency of 1 kHz. These data are stored in a buffer and transmitted by 620 kbps to an external monitor through a RF transmitter. The data transmission period of the RF transmitter depends on the operation mode. It is generally 1 minute in the normal situation or 1 ms in the emergency situation. The proposed readout circuit was designed with $0.11{\mu}m$ process technology. The chip area is $460{\times}800{\mu}m^2$. According to measurement, the power consumption is $161.8{\mu}W$ in the count mode and $507.3{\mu}W$ in the ADC mode with the operating voltage of 1 V.

In this study, analysis of structural design criteria for the canopy actuating device has been conducted considering the aerodynamic breakaway capabilities of jettisonable canopy system. Unsteady aerodynamic loads for the opened canopy configuration at passively controlled jettision mode were computed using CFD method. The general purpose multi-body finite element code, SAMCEF Mecano, is used in the implemented analyses for the passive jettision condition. The recommended altitude and speed of aircraft was suggested as design criteria of aerodynamic breakaway capability of jettisonable canopy system as a bakup egress method when normal canopy jettison sequence malfunctioned. Aerodynamic breakaway condition of jettisonable canopy was also simulated and the fracture load conditions of canopy actuator were investigated.

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to understand the adaptive responses of different modes of physical exercises utilizing skeletal muscle and the comprehensive relevance of AMPK signaling that can be activated by physical exercise as a potential molecular target in human health problems such as neuromuscular disorders (NMDs). METHODS: Most of the contents in this review article are based on recent publications concerning the main topics of interest. The reference literatures cited were obtained by basic searches of overseas academic databases such as PubMed and ScienceDirect using EndNote X7.8. RESULTS: The phenotypic adaptive responses of skeletal muscle during endurance- and resistance-based exercise training (ET and RT respectively) appear to be distinct. To explain the adaptive responses in each single mode of exercises (ET, RT) along with combined exercise training (CT), AMPK signaling is proposed as an important molecular link among those differential modes of exercise and a promising molecular target of NMDs. CONCLUSION: Based on the available evidence, intracellular AMPK signaling activated by diverse stimuli including physical exercise can be a potential and promising therapeutic target for the prevention, amelioration or cure of various human health problems including NMDs and may also be beneficial for physical rehabilitation and emergency situations that may elicit acute metabolic stresses.

The objectives of this research are development of guidance, navigation and control system for RUAV on virtual instrumentation and real flight test. For this research, the system is divided to DAQ (data acquisition) section, actuator section and controller section. And the hardware and software on each sections are realized on LabVIEW base. Waypoint guidance and control of auto flight are realized using PID gain tuning and waypoint vector tracking guidance algorism. For safe flight test, auto/manual switching module isolated from FCS (Flight Control System) is developed. By using the switch module, swift mode change was achieved during emergency flight case. Consequently, a meter level error of flight performance is achieved.
The waterhammer has recently become more important because the pumping stations were big and the systems conveying the fluid through the large and long transmission pipelines were complex. When the pumps are started or stopped for the operation or tripped due to the power failure, the hydraulic transients occur as a result of the sudden change in velocity As the pressure waves are propagating between the pumping station and the distributing reservoir, the pressure inside the pipe drops to the liquid vapor pressure with the pipeline profile, at which time a vapor cavity forms, and finally the column separation occurs. If the pressure in the pipe is less than the atmospheric pressure, the pipe can be collapsed and destroyed after the water columns separated by the vapor cavity rejoin. During the reverse flow, the pressure is so abnormally increased at the pumping station that the accident of flooding may happen due to the failure of system. In this paper, the field tests on the waterhammer by the startup, stoppage, and power failure of a centrifugal pump were carried out for Yongma transmission pumping station in Seoul. The experimental results were compared with that of the numerical calculations, in which results the procedure of controlled pump normal shut-down and the two-step closing mode of controlling the ball valve for pump emergency stop are proposed to reduce the pressure surge.

Purpose: This study examines errors in death certificates (DCs) issued to cases of poisoning. Methods: DCs issued in poisoning cases were retrospectively reviewed. Errors in the DC were classified as major and minor errors, and were evaluated in accordance with their impact on the process of selecting the cause of death (COD). Results: A total of 79 DCs were evaluated; 43 (54.4%) DCs were issued in the emergency department (ED), and 36 (45.6%) DCs were issued outside the ED. The average major and minor errors per DC were determined to be 0.4 and 3.3, respectively. Moreover, an average of 3.0 errors were discovered in DCs issued at the ED, and 4.4 errors in DCs issued outside the ED. The most common major errors were incorrect manner of death (11.4%, 9/79), followed by unacceptable COD (7.6%, 6/79), and the mode of dying as an underlying COD (5.1%, 4/79). The common minor errors most frequently encountered were incorrect time interval (86.1%, 68/79), followed by incorrect other significant conditions (73.4%, 58/79), and no record for date of onset (62.0%, 49/79). Conclusion: Our results indicate that the total numbers of major errors, minor errors and cases of misjudged cause of death were greater in DCs issued outside the ED than in DCs issued at the ED. The most frequently quoted major error of DCs related to poisoning was determined to be the incorrect manner of death.
Purpose: The Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS) is a tool used to classify the severity and urgency of emergency department (ED) patients, focusing on their symptoms. In consideration of the importance of the KTAS, a web-based learning program has emerged as a new mode of education; it enables ED triage nurses to access it anytime and anywhere, and according to their own learning abilities. This study aimed to develop a web-based KTAS learning program and evaluate its effects on self-efficacy and triage performance ability in ED nurses. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest was used. The conceptual framework was Bandura's self-efficacy theory. There were 30 participants in the experimental group and 29 in the control group. The experimental group attended an orientation and 4 sessions of a web-based KTAS learning program. The learning program lasted 280 minutes over five weeks, consisting of 40 minutes of orientation and four 60-minute sessions. Results: The scores of self-efficacy, triage performance ability in KTAS level, and chief complaints significantly increased in the experimental group compared to the control group. In addition, the numbers of under-triage in KTAS significantly decreased in the experimental group in comparison to the control group. Conclusion: The results suggest that the learning program was effective in improving ED nurses' level of self-efficacy and triage performance ability (KTAS level and KTAS chief complaint). Accordingly, the web-based KTAS learning program can be applied as an education intervention to improve ED nurses' triage skill.
