Emergency Monitoring System Based on a Newly-Developed Fall Detection Algorithm

  • An emergency monitoring system for the elderly, which uses acceleration data measured with an accelerometer, angular velocity data measured with a gyroscope, and heart rate measured with an electrocardiogram, is proposed. The proposed fall detection algorithm uses multiple parameter combinations in which all parameters, calculated using tri-axial accelerations and bi-axial angular velocities, are above a certain threshold within a time period. Further, we propose an emergency detection algorithm that monitors the movements of the fallen elderly person, after a fall is detected. The results show that the proposed algorithms can distinguish various types of falls from activities of daily living with 100% sensitivity and 98.75% specificity. In addition, when falls are detected, the emergency detection rate is 100%. This suggests that the presented fall and emergency detection method provides an effective automatic fall detection and emergency alarm system. The proposed algorithms are simple enough to be implemented into an embedded system such as 8051-based microcontroller with 128 kbyte ROM.

응급의료정보시스템의 보호를 위한 보안 구조 (Security Structure for Protection of Emergency Medical Information System)

  • Emergency medical information center performs role of medical direction about disease consult and pre-hospital emergency handling scheme work to people. Emergency medical information system plays a major role to be decreased mortality and disability of emergency patient by providing information of medical institution especially when emergency patient has appeared. But, various attacks as a hacking have been happened in Emergency medical information system recently. In this paper, we proposed security structure which can protect the system securely by detecting attacks from outside effectively. Intrusion detection was performed using rule based detection technique according to protocol for every packet to detect attack and intrusion was reported to control center if intrusion was detected also. Intrusion detection was performed again using decision tree for packet which intrusion detection was not done. We experimented effectiveness using attacks as TCP-SYN, UDP flooding and ICMP flooding for proposed security structure in this paper.

Emergency Signal Detection based on Arm Gesture by Motion Vector Tracking in Face Area

  • This paper presents a method for detection of an emergency signal expressed by arm gestures based on motion segmentation and face area detection in the surveillance system. The important indicators of emergency can be arm gestures and voice. We define an emergency signal as the 'Help Me' arm gestures in a rectangle around the face. The 'Help Me' arm gestures are detected by tracking changes in the direction of the horizontal motion vectors of left and right arms. The experimental results show that the proposed method successfully detects 'Help Me' emergency signal for a single person and distinguishes it from other similar arm gestures such as hand waving for 'Bye' and stretching. The proposed method can be used effectively in situations where people can't speak, and there is a language or voice disability.

  • 전방 낙하물과 같은 돌발상황이 발생했을 때 신속하고 적절한 정보 제공은 도로 위 이용자들의 편의를 가져다주고 2차 교통사고 또한 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다. 도로 상의 돌발상황은 현재 국내에서 루프 검지기나 CCTV 등 ITS 기반 검지 체계를 사용하여 주로 검지하고 있다. 이러한 방식은 검지기의 검지 구간에서의 도로 위 데이터만을 얻을 수 있다. 때문에, 기존 ITS 기반 검지체계의 공간적 음영구간에서 돌발상황을 찾아내기 위하여 새로운 검지 수단이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 차량 내 설치된 단말기에서 촬영된 영상으로부터 돌발상황을 검지 및 분류하는 ResNet 기반 알고리즘을 제안한다. 국내 고속도로 전방 주행영상을 수집하였고, 돌발상황 유형을 클래스로 정의하여 각 데이터를 라벨링한 후, 제안한 알고리즘으로 데이터를 학습시켰다. 학습 결과, 개발한 알고리즘은 데이터 수가 상대적으로 적었던 일부 클래스를 제외하고 정의한 돌발상황 클래스에 대하여 높은 검지율을 보였다.

  • For emergency patients as heart disease, fast treatment is very important. This paper describes a smart phone software to detect emergency circumstance and request rescue. Detection of emergency condition of heart disease patients is based on physical motion and biological heart signals as electrocardiogram. Most smart phones have three axis acceleration sensor. On emergency condition, patients remain stationary. Thus the software detect stationary condition by using acceleration sensor data. For more precise detection, it combines electrocardiogram of patients. To request rescue, it sends help messages to designated persons. In addition, it generates emergency sound to surrounding people and plays a video of emergency measure that any person on the place can help the patient temporarily.

  • 일반적으로 어떤 순간에 발생할지 모르는 응급 상황을 CCTV의 영상 정보만으로 상황을 항상 모니터링하기에는 인력과 비용의문제점이 발생되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 응급상황을 동적으로 보여주는 CCTV환경에서 감지하기 위해 GMM을 이용한 응급단어와 비응급단어의 검출 및 인식기법을제안하고자 한다. 제안된 방법은 Global GMM 모델에 의해 응급단어와 일반단어를 검출하고 이 모델에 의해 응급단어라 판정된 경우에는 Local GMM 모델에 응급단어 인식을 수행하게 된다. 제안된 방법은 다양한 환경하에서 취득한 응급단어와 일반단어에 대해 적용하여 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • Based on the problems of untimely Expressway fire rescue and backward traditional fire rescue methods, an emergency fire fighting and inspection robot riding on expressway guardrail is designed. The overall mechanical structure design of emergency fire fighting and inspection robot riding on expressway guardrail is completed by using three-dimensional design software. The target fire detection is realized by using the target detection algorithm of Yolov5; By selecting a variety of sensors and using the control method of multi algorithm fusion, the basic function of robot on duty early warning is realized, and it has the ability of intelligent fire extinguishing. The BMS battery charging and discharging system is used to detect the real-time power of the robot. The design of the expressway emergency fire fighting and inspection robot provides a new technical means for the development of emergency fire fighting equipment, and improves the reliability and efficiency of expressway emergency fire fighting.

  • The study presents a review of research advancements in the field of gamma radiation detection systems for emergency radiation monitoring, particularly two major sub-systems namely (i) the radiation detector and (ii) the detection platform - air-borne and ground-based. The dynamics and functional characteristics of modern radiation detector active materials are summarized and discussed. The capabilities of both ground-based and aerial vehicle platforms employed in gamma radiation monitoring are deliberated in depth.

CutPaste-Based Anomaly Detection Model using Multi Scale Feature Extraction in Time Series Streaming Data

  • The aging society increases emergency situations of the elderly living alone and a variety of social crimes. In order to prevent them, techniques to detect emergency situations through voice are actively researched. This study proposes CutPaste-based anomaly detection model using multi-scale feature extraction in time series streaming data. In the proposed method, an audio file is converted into a spectrogram. In this way, it is possible to use an algorithm for image data, such as CNN. After that, mutli-scale feature extraction is applied. Three images drawn from Adaptive Pooling layer that has different-sized kernels are merged. In consideration of various types of anomaly, including point anomaly, contextual anomaly, and collective anomaly, the limitations of a conventional anomaly model are improved. Finally, CutPaste-based anomaly detection is conducted. Since the model is trained through self-supervised learning, it is possible to detect a diversity of emergency situations as anomaly without labeling. Therefore, the proposed model overcomes the limitations of a conventional model that classifies only labelled emergency situations. Also, the proposed model is evaluated to have better performance than a conventional anomaly detection model.

  • This paper proposed a method that detects emergency situations in a video stream using MHI (Motion History Image) and template matching for a video-based intelligent security system. The proposed method creates a MHI of each human object through image processing technique such as background removing based on GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model), labeling and accumulating the foreground images, then the obtained MHI is compared with the existing MHI templates for detecting an emergency situation. To evaluate the proposed emergency detection method, a set of experiments on the dataset of video clips captured from a security camera has been conducted. And we successfully detected emergency situations using the proposed method. In addition, the implemented system also provides MMS (Multimedia Message Service) so that a security manager can deal with the emergency situation appropriately.
