  • The reinforced concrcte structure were once belicved to have permanent durability. However, it is now spoiled by durability failure caused by the corrosion of embeded steel reingorcement carbonation. alkali-aggregate reaction and salt attack Recently. salt damage has been also spreading. Salt damage is found in concrete structures built using seasands or certain admixtures containing calcium chlorides and in coastal structures frequently caught in seawater spray or blown by seawind It is the aim of this study to investigate the performance and application of new repair system for the exterior wall according to the durability improvement in the RC structures.

  • Contents 1We developed a new type of lower part of the human-sized BWR (biped walking robot) driven by a new actuator based on the ball screw which has high strength and high gear ratio. Each leg of the robot is composed of three pitch Joints and one roll joint. In all, a 8 degree-of-freedom robot was developed. A new type of actuator for the robot is proposed, which is composed of four bar link mechanism driven by the ball screw. The BWR was designed to walk autonomously by adapting small DC motors for the robot actuators and has an embeded controller system including host computer, batteries and motor drivers.   • Autotransplantation is the transplantation of embeded, impacted, or unerupted tooth, into extraction socket or surgically prepared socket in the same individual. Clinically, successful autotransplantation must show radiolucent space(periodontal ligament space) between transplanted tooth and supporting bone, lamina dura, no root resorption, no ankylosis, no inflammatory change, and physiologic tooth mobility. It is important that procedure is atraumatic, and the instruments should not contact the root surface during procedure. We performed autotransplantation of impacted mandibular canine that transversely located beneath the apices of the mandibular incisors with uncompletely developed apex. In radiographs and clinical evaluation, this transplant showed successful clinical finding except irregularity of mesial root surface after 14 months. It is conclued that transplantation of canine with $\frac{1}{2}{\sim}\frac{3}{4}$ root development provides a good chance of pulp survival, limited risk of root resorption and ensures sufficient final length, and is thus recommended.

  • In RC beams strengthened with Epoxy-Bonded Fiber, debonding failure happens frequently. Moreover, through the life cycle, it is difficult to recognize clacks and deflections on the surface of concrete members strengthened with Epoxy- Bonded Fiber. For these reasons, we must always monitor the state of RC beams. The Optical FBG sensor is broadly accepted as a structural health monitoring device. The main objective of this paper is that it's possible to monitoring the debonding failure of R.C. beams strengthened with Epoxy-Bonded Fiber. For that, we fixed two Optical FBG sensors at the center of the beam and another two sensors in the end of Epoxy-Bonded Fiber, According to the comparison micro-strain between embeded sensor in concrete and that on the fiber surface, we can find the point which debonding failure occurs

  • This paper presents experimental results to know the charcteristics of machined surface due to cutter runout. Cutter runout is a common but undesirable phenomenon in multi-tooth machining such as end-milling process because it introduces variable chip loading to insert which results in a accelerated tool wear, amplification of force variation and hence enargement vibration amplitude. To develop in-proess cutter runout compensation system, set-up the micro-positoning mechanism which is based on piezoelectric translator embeded in the work holder to manipulate the depth of cut in real-time. And feasibility test of system was done under the various experimental cutting conditions. This results provide lots of information to build-up the precision machining technology.

  • This paper is concerned with the heat flux distribution and energy partition for creep-feed grinding. Form measurements of transient grinding temperatures in the workpiece sub-surface using an embeded thermocouple, the overall energy partition to the workpiece was estimated form moving heat source theory for a triangular heat flux distribution as 3.0% for down grinding and 4.5% for up grinding. The higher energy partition for up grinding can be attributed to the need to satisfy thermal compatibility at the grinding zone. The influence of cooling outside the grinding zone can be analytically taken into account by specifying convective heat transfer coefficients on the workpiecs surface h /sab a/ heat source (grinding zone) and h /sab b/ behind the heat source. The smaller energy patition together with slightly lower grinding power favors down grinding over up grinding.

  • There is an increasing need to apply artificial intelligence to the real application fields of industry. These include an intelligent process control, an expert machine and a diagnostic and/or maintenance machine. These applications are implemented in AI Languages. It is commonly recognized that AI Languages, such as Common Lisp or Prolog, require a workstation. This is mainly due to the fact that both languages need a large amount of memory space and disk storage space. Workstations are appropriate for a laboratory or office environment. However, they are too bulky to use in the real application fields of industry or business. Also users who apply artificial intelligence to these fields wish to have their own operating systems. We propose a new design method of an intelligent controller which is embedded within equipment and provides easy-to-use tools for artificial intelligence applications. In this paper we describe the new design method of a VMEbus based intelligent controller for artificial intelligence applications and a small operating system which supports Common Lisp and Prolog.

  • This paper presents the In-process compensation to control cutter runout and improve the machined surface quality. Cutter runout compensation system consists of the micro-positioning servo system with piezoelectric actuator which is embeded in the sliding table to manipulate radial depth of cut in real-time. Cutting force feedback control was proposed in the angle domain based upon repetitive learning control strategy to eliminate chip load variation in end milling process. Micro-positioning control due to adaptive actuation force response improves the machined surface quality by compensation runout effect induced cutting force variation. This result will provide lots of information to build-up the preciswion machining technology.

  • Reinforced concrete is in general known as high durability construction material under normal environments due to strong alkalinity of cement. Marine concrete specimens in the tidal and the splash zone at seashore have been exposed to cyclic wet and dry saltwaters which cause to accelerate corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete. If corrosion resistance of concrete gets to weaken de to carbonations and cracks in cover concrete, furthermore, concrete durability rapidly decreases by the corrosion of reinforcement steel embeded in concrete. The objective of this study is to develop appropriate corrosion protection systems of marine concrete so as to enhance the durability of concrete by establishing pertinent cover depth of concrete and by using corrosion inhibitors as concrete admixtures.

  • Depend on delay latency rule for message transmission defined in IEC 61850 standard, the fastest message has to be transferred within 3us. This paper suggests how to structure the real time message transmit test environment of IEC 61850 and develope how to securing IEC 61850 communication performance based on IEC 61850 by measuring delay latency of message transfer on embeded linux system.
