Design and Implementation of Embedded Ethernet Module for Home Network (홈 네트워크를 위한 Embedded Ethernet Module 설계 및 구현)

  • The necessity of the home network have been enlarged gradually according to the distribution of ultra-high speed internet, the expansion of a digital information equipment and the change of a life pattern. In this paper, we proposed the embedded ethernet module that could be operate on eight bit system, but it could control home appliance with full ethernet speed. The embedded ethernet module consists of 8051 MCU and Hardware TCP/IP. In this module, we construct simple web server and port remote control program for I/O device control. We verified through internet that the developed embedded ethernet module could control and check home appliances anywhere and anytime. We expect the developed ethernet module can build up niche market at home network. And it will be helpful to activate home network market.

  • Middleware enables different networking devices and protocols to inter-operate in ubiquitous home network environments. The UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) middleware, which runs on a PC and is based on the IPv4 protocol, has attracted much interest in the field of home network research since it has versatility The UPnP, however, cannot be easily accessed via the public Internet since the UPnP devices that provide services and the Control Points that control the devices are configured with non-routable local private or Auto IP networks. The critical question is how to access UPnP network via the public Internet. The purpose of this paper is to deal with the non-routability problem in local private and Auto IP networks by improving the conventional Control Point used in UPnP middleware-based home networks. For this purpose, this paper proposes an improved Control Point for accessing and controlling the home network from remote sites via the public Internet, by adding a web server to the conventional Control Point. The improved Control Point is implemented in an embedded GNU/Linux system running on an ARM9 platform. Also this paper implements the security of the home network system based on the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), adding VPN (Virtual Private Network) router that uses the IPsec to the home network system which is consisted of the ARM9 and the Embedded Linux.

  • SNMP is a standard protocol for management of networking devices. Nowadays, most computer systems have capability to act as SNMP agents. In this paper, we developed a low overhead version of SNMP library for embedded systems, and implemented a monitoring software based on the library for a large number of target systems. The monitoring system consists of a monitoring server, SNMP agents, and client programs. The monitoring server collects status information from SNMP agents running on the monitoring targets, and sends summary information to client programs. We implemented two versions of clients, Java based standalone program and Web based program.

  • In order to attain a favorable result in the online education, well-developed lectures must be offered with appropriate evaluation feedback process. Internet-based questionnaire systems using CGI or ASP are the most general method under Web environment. This paper informs us of the characteristics and limits of present Internet-based questionnaire systems. For better education and overcoming the limits of the present system, we suggest the practical system which allows teachers to receive feedback from results of a questionnaire, that is easily composed and managed on the Internet using industry standard Microsoft IIS Web server and its embedded server-side script.

  • As a core project of the Korean Astronomical Data Center (KADC) in Korea Astronomy Observatory (KAO), we have constructed a framework of astronomical database using MySQL and JSP. MySQL database server is a powerful open source database management system, and JSP technology provides a simplified, fast way to create dynamic web content. Combined together, MySQL and JSP enable us to develop server-independent web-based applications efficiently in a short amount of time. The MySQL tables and JSP programs embedded in our database are built/written in a way to benefit both users and managers. We plan to expand our database by supplementing additional data in the near future. Our newly constructed database is expected to be the prototype of the Korean Virtual Observatory (KVO).

  • Mobile devices or smartphones are rapidly becoming the central computer and communication network device. Recently, smartphones are programmable and come with a growing set of cheap powerful embedded sensors, such as an accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope, GPS, microphone, and camera. In this paper, we discuss the wireless gas sensing service architectural and develope the gas sensor monitoring services using smartphone and web server.

  • This thesis presents MPU module, Base board and sensor module which are efficient industrial control through design and manufacture as developing S5PV210 CPU of SAMSUNG used by ARM Cortex-A8 based on Android which is Open mobile platform is installed to embedded system. Data for temperature and humidity which are received by sensor module proved the suitability and validity for the real time framework design as implementing application program employed the smart phone App with hybrid application based on DB of web server.

  • This paper describes the implementation of an internet-based servo-control system with novel direct internet control architecture which is insensitive to the inherent internet time delay. The servo control system can be controlled by using a PC provided at a local site. However, a large internet time delay may make some control inputs distorted. Moreover, since it is acted by the number of the internet nodes and loads, this delay is variable and unpredictable. This system consists of servo mechanism and Ethernet control adapter. Intention of this paper is to reduce the expenses, to manage effectively for plant and to increase the productivity through linking each plant of several factories by TCP/IP and Ethernet, and then many control plants and manager minimize the needed work. Experiments are partially fulfilled using the Labview and Matlab.

  • The SPARTAN-3E development kit is equipped with an FPGA which holds 500 thousand logic gates and a bus system platform using MicroBlaze microprocessor system. This kind of embedded systems can be used to gather information from sensor nodes and send over to the main server periodically through the network gateway, using the microprocessor-based embedded system, so that edlers living alone under sensor coverage can send their moving information and can be applied to get help in the event of emergency situations. In this paper, we designed a simple embedded system based on a CPU and flash memories using such FPGAs which can be used to monitor those elderlies living alone. The developed hardware system can be directly combined with the web-based elders-living-alone monitoring system, making the system more efficient.

  • System management application system is one of the most interesting fields in Ubiquitous Sensor Networks. It conforms to the property of Ubiquitous Sensor Networks very well, and it is the closest application for commercial use. We have two kinds of system management technology, such as the one which is accessed by web browser at anytime, anywhere and another one which is for local accessed system. In this paper, our purpose is implementation of system management application system which provides Mesh Sensor Networks topology with IP based agent platform and system management server. Furthermore we introduce the functions used for our recent implementation and propose several future issues about system management application system.
