  • This paper describes the numerical analysis techniques using the Combined Integration/Matrix Method to calculate ground potential rise which can be occurred in the various grounding systems. Combined Integration/Matrix Method is used to reduce the error and computation time with the analytical integration equation and the proper segmentaion of earth embedded conductor. To do it, optimal segmentaion method for the buried conductors is presented through error analysis which is capable of applying the practical scaled various grounding systems. The optimum length of segmented element is much co-related with the buried depth of grounding electrode and the maximum length of buried electrode. As a result, less 3 precent errors was obtained by proposed model. The proposed model is applied to verify an effect of multi-grounding problems which was aroused much controversy with separated or common grounding between the high power grounding system and low power grounding system such as signal and telecommunication grounding.

  • The paper is a summary of the results of the basic pullout test which is conducted to evaluate the anchorage capacity of high strength headed bars that is mechanical anchored vertically on steel fiber reinforced concrete members. The main experimental parameters are volume fraction of steel fiber, concrete strength, anchorage length, yield strength of headed bars, and shear reinforcement bar. Both sides of covering depth of the specimen are planned to double the diameter of the headed bars. The hinged point is placed at the position of each 1.5𝑙dt and 0.7𝑙dt around the headed bars, and the headed bars are drawn directly. As a result of pullout test experiment, concrete fracture and steel tensile rupture appear by experimental parameters. The compressive strength of concrete is 2.7~5.4% higher than that of steel fiber with the same parameters, while the pullout strength is 20.9~63.1% higher than that of steel fiber without the same parameters, which is evaluated to contribute greatly to the improvement of the anchorage capacity. The reinforcements of shear reinforcements parallel to the headed bars increased 1.7~7.7% pullout strength for steel fiber reinforced concrete, but the effect on the improvement of the anchorage capacity was not significant considering the increase in concrete strength. As with the details of this experiment, it is believed that the design formula for the anchorage length of KCI2017and KCI2012 are suitable for the mechanical development design of SD600 head bar that is perpendicular to the steel fiber reinforced concrete members.

  • The global increase in population and subsequent scarcity of terrestrial living spaces necessitates exploration of alternative habitats. Research into the development of underwater living areas provides promising avenues for the expansion of human living spaces and the use of marine environments. This study focuses on the failure envelope of suction caisson foundations subjected to combined loads in a marine setting, utilizing finite element analysis. The foundation is assumed to be embedded in clay characterized by a linear increase in undrained shear strength with depth, employing the von Mises constitutive model for the clay. The resulting failure envelope is represented as a tilted ellipse which expands as the undrained shear strength increases, maintaining a constant ratio between the major and minor axes. A comparative analysis of two suction caisson foundations with varying length-to-diameter ratios revealed that this ratio influences the dimensions of the failure envelope, with a tendency for the major-to-minor axis ratio to increase as the length-to-diameter ratio increases. These findings are critical for the design of suction caisson foundations in offshore environments.

  • Many sensor operating systems have memory limitation constraint; therefore, stack memory areas of threads resides in a single memory space. Because most target platforms do not have hardware MMY (Memory Management Unit), it is difficult to protect each stack area. The method to solve this problem is to exchange original stack handling instructions in binary code for wrapper routines to protect stack area. In this exchanging phase, instruction corruption problem occurs due to difference of each instruction length between stack handling instructions and branch instructions. In this paper, we propose the algorithm to call a target routine without instruction corruption problem. This algorithm can reach a target routine by repeating branch instructions to have a short range. Our solution makes it easy to apply security patch and maintain upgrade of software of sensor node.

  • Opening the tip of a PHC pile, under a constant driving energy, can result in an increment of penetration depth due to the decrement of driving resistance. Therefore, the bearing capacity of an open-ended PHC pile may become larger than that of a closed-ended PHC pile by virtue of the increased embedded length. However, two main problems can be caused by opening the end of PHC pile. First problem is the variation of bearing capacity by opening the pile tip, and the second one is whether the tip of an open-ended PHC pile will be failured by a high pressure developed by the soil plug. In this study, model pile tests in calibration chamber were performed to investigate the practicability of open-ended PHC pile in view of both the pile bearing capacity and the possible failure of the pile tip. According to the test results, the total bearing capacity of open-ended piles approaches the total bearing capacity of closed-ended piles with the increase of the penetration depth. The failure of pile tip could be occurred in the region of 0.8~1.1 times as the inside diameter from the pile tip.

  • This paper investigated the effects of rebar corrosion on bond performance between rebar and two different concrete mixes (compressive strengths of 20.7 MPa and 44.4 MPa). The specimen was designed as a rebar centrally embedded in a 200 mm concrete cube, with two stirrups around the rebar to supply confinement. An electrochemical accelerated corrosion technique was applied to corrode the rebar. 120 specimens of two different concrete mixes with various reinforcing steel corrosion levels were manufactured. The corrosion crack opening width and length were recorded in detail during and after the corrosion process. Three different loading schemes: monotonic pull-out load, 10 cycles of constant slip loading followed by pull-out and varied slip loading followed by pull-out, were carried out on the specimens. The effects of rebar corrosion with two different concrete mixes on corrosion crack opening, bond strength and corresponding slip value, initial slope of bond-slip curve, residual bond stress, mechanical interaction stress, and energy dissipation, were discussed in detail. The mean value and coefficient of variation of these parameters were also derived. It was found that the coefficient of variation of the parameters of the corroded specimens was larger than those with intact rebar. There is also obvious difference in the two different concrete mixes for the effects of rebar corrosion on bond-slip parameters.

  • Many construction equipment or supporting structure should be installed in a field without appropriate anchorage to cause a collapse of those. Anchor length, anchor diameter, hooked or non hooked will be made and tested in the study. This one will be analyzed and compared with the previous study in order to find out some difference, strength by strength, based on this study. Embedded re-bar and the resistant capacity against pulled out force of re bar have been tested and analyzed by concrete design strength and rebar diameter in the study. 21Mpa and 24MPa compressive strength which are used in construction practice have been applied as variables. Those rebars are composed of D13, D16. D22 which are mostly used at construction sites. The followings are summarized as conclusions.1) ductility is not increased as rebar diameter becomes larger under the condition of non-hooked anchorage.2) those are two times of displacement difference between small diameter of rebar and large one with hooked anchorage of rebar while being 1/10 times difference with non-hooked condition but, only 10% difference of maximum load are shown, not conspicuously between hooked and non-hooked condition.3) displacement related to ductility can be three(3) times decreased if only concrete compressive strength and rebar diameter become larger with heavy support weight.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose changes that can be made to improve nurse uniforms in terms of outfit and functionality based on actual wearing conditions and nurse's preference. The proposed nurse uniform was composed of a blouse and pants. The design was as follows: the blouse had short set-in sleeve with China collar, a princess line, and it came down to middle hip. Armhole action pleats and back inverted pleats were embedded for convenient arm movements. The pants waist had a rubber band at the back waist, and the crotch length and the knee width were increased for activity. To make the pocket more accommodative, separate pocket slots treated with silicone were added to prevent belongings from coming out of the pocket. The pink tone of the uniforms, as well as the stripes on the blouses and spandex incorporated pants were based on nurses' preference. the nurse uniforms were produced after measuring the size of women in the age of 25 to 29, and the uniform patterns were corrected after two wearing experiments. Wearing test was examined in terms of appearance and functionality. For appearance, experts gave the uniforms a mean rating of 4.30, and nurses gave a mean rating of 4.00. Functionality was evaluated in terms of ease of activity and storage aspects. The total mean of ease of activity in nursing service was 4.30, whereas the evaluation of storage in terms of pocket position and convenience was 3.80.

  • Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a material with a wide bandgap (3.26eV), a high critical electric field (~2.3MV/cm), a and a high bulk electron mobility ($\sim900cm^2/Vs$). These electronic properties allow high breakdown voltage, high-speed switching capability, and high temperature operation compared to Si devices. Although various SiC DMOSFET structures have been reported so far for optimizing performances, the effect of channel dimension on the switching performance of SiC DMOSFETs has not been extensively examined. This paper studies different channel dimensons ($L_{CH}$ : $0.5{\mu}m$, $1\;{\mu}m$, $1.5\;{\mu}m$) and their effect on the the device transient characteristics. The key design parameters for SiC DMOSFETs have been optimized and a physics-based two-dimensional (2-D) mixed device and circuit simulator by Silvaco Inc. has been used to understand the relationship. with the switching characteristics. To investigate transient characteristic of the device, mixed-mode simulation has been performed, where the solution of the basic transport equations for the 2-D device structures is directly embedded into the solution procedure for the circuit equations. We observe an increase in the turn-on and turn-off time with increasing the channel length. The switching time in 4H-SiC DMOSFETs have been found to be seriously affected by the various intrinsic parasitic components, such as gate-source capacitance and channel resistance. The intrinsic parasitic components relate to the delay time required for the carrier transit from source to drain. Therefore, improvement of switching speed in 4H-SiC DMOSFETs is essential to reduce the gate-source capacitance and channel resistance.

  • We design and fabricate a novel tunable wavelength filter, which utilizes long-range surface plasmon-polaritons excited along nm-thick-metal strips. A gold metal strip, with $\sim$ cm length, 20 nm thickness, and $\sim$ 5$\mu$m width, is embedded in thick thermo-optic Polymer films supported by a silicon wafer. A dielectric Bragg grating structure is Placed on the metal strip, so that transmission signals at telecom wavelength are selected by thermal effect of the thermo-optic polymer. High extinction ratio of 25 dB and total insertion loss of $\sim$25 dB/cm can be measured by single-mode coupling of optical fibers. We also verify that wavelength tuning of the long-range surface plasmon-polariton filters can be achieved by electric current directly applied to the metal-strip waveguides.
