엔진 제어시스템을 위한 래피드 콘트롤 프로토타이핑 플랫폼에 관한 연구 (Development of a Rapid Control Prototyping Platform for Engine Control System)

  • The design and implementation of an engine control system has become an important area in developing a new car, but the implementation of an engine control system is becoming a tedious and time-consuming work as the level of complexity increases. In order to shorten the development cycle of the control system, rapid control prototyping (RCP) technique deserves developers' attention. A new RCP platform has been developed for an automotive engine control application. This prototyping system strictly adheres to the layered architecture of the final production ECU, and separates the automatically generated part of software, or the application area, from the hand coded area, which generally carefully designed and tested because of the hardware dependency and the efficiency of microcontroller. The $Matlab{\circledR}$ tool-chain of Mathworks Inc. has been selected as a base environment in this study. A newly developed Engine Control Toolbox of Real-Time $Workshop{\circledR}$ converts a graphically represented control algorithm into optimized application codes and links them with other parts of the software to generate executable code for the target processor.

  • 특정 응응 분야를 위해 개발된 임베디드 프로세서의 진화 및 새로운 출현과 더불어 이를 지원할 수 있는 소프트웨어 개발 환경에 관한 연구와 상용화 시도가 활성화되고 있다. 재목적성(retargetability)은 프로세서나 메모리에 대한 아키텍처 정보를 아키텍처 기술 언어(ADL)로 기술하여 컴파일러, 시뮬레이터, 어셈블러, 프로파일러, 디버거 등과 같은 소프트웨어 개발 도구를 생성하는데 이용된다. EXPRESSION ADL은 아키텍처 모델링, 소프트웨어 개발 도구 생성, 빠른 프로토타입핑, 아키텍처에 대한 설계 탐색과 SoC에 대한 기능적인 검증을 위해 개발된 ADL로서 프로세서 코어, 코프로세서, 메모리 등으로 구성된 소프트웨어적인 아키텍처를 구조와 동작 정보를 혼합하여 자연스럽게 모델링하였다. 이 논문에서는 EXPRESSION ADL을 기반으로 ADL의 작성 편리성, 확장성을 높이기 위해 클래스 기반 ADL을 설계하고 문법의 타당성을 검증하였다. 이를 위해, 6개의 핵심 클래스를 정의하고 MIPS R4000에 대한 ADL을 표현으로부터 EXPRESSION과 동일한 컴파일러, 시뮬레이터를 생성하였다.

AUTOSAR 소프트웨어 기능안전 메커니즘 설계 사례연구: Shift-by-Wire 시스템 (Case Study on AUTOSAR Software Functional Safety Mechanism Design: Shift-by-Wire System)

  • The automotive industry and academic research have been continuously conducting research on standardization such as AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) and ISO26262 to solve problems such as safety and efficiency caused by the complexity of electric/electronic architecture of automotive. AUTOSAR is an automotive standard software platform that has a layered structure independent of MCU (Micro Controller Unit) hardware, and improves product reliability through software modularity and reusability. And, ISO26262, an international standard for automotive functional safety and suggests a method to minimize errors in automotive ECU (Electronic Control Unit)s by defining the development process and results for the entire life cycle of automotive electrical/electronic systems. These design methods are variously applied in representative automotive safety-critical systems. However, since the functional and safety requirements are different according to the characteristics of the safety-critical system, it is essential to research the AUTOSAR functional safety design method specialized for each application domain. In this paper, a software functional safety mechanism design method using AUTOSAR is proposed, and a new failure management framework is proposed to ensure the high reliability of the product. The AUTOSAR functional safety mechanism consists of memory partitioning protection, timing monitoring protection, and end-to-end protection. The fault management framework is composed of several safety SWCs to maintain the minimum function and performance even if a fault occurs during the operation of a safety-critical system. Finally, the proposed method is applied to the Shift-by-Wire system design to prove the validity of the proposed method.

  • FPCA is the necessary device to design of hardware at present, it is researched on many ways of applying to design caused by expansion of capacity in recent years. One of these applying ways is SoC (System on a Chip) that is proposed for realizing the basic function of a system. For realizing SoC efficiently, IP (Intellectual property) is very important and developed for re-use of hardware. A MPU for built-in exists as an IP. But almost of MPUs at present as an IPs are lengthy and large-scale for using embedded-application. Furthermore, the function of executing specific treatment critically is required to embedded MPU. We propose a flexible and small scale MPU and its design method.

전자가격표시시스템의 소모전력 분석 및 최소화 방안 (Power Consumption Analysis and Minimization of Electronic Shelf Label System)

  • Energy consumption of sensor nodes is minimized because it has limited energy generator in wireless sensor network. Electronic shelf label system is one of application fields using wireless sensor networks. Battery size of small apparatus for displaying price is restricted. Therefore its current consumption have to be minimized. Furthermore the method for minimization of peak current would be considered because life cycle of coin battery used to display or RF is vulnerable to intensity of drain current. In this paper, we analyze current consumption pattern of low-power electronic shelf label system. Then we propose the method for minimization of current consumption by modification of software and hardware. Current consumption of the system using proposed method are approximately 15 to 20 percent lower than existing system and the life cycle of the system is approximately 10 percent higher than existing system.

  • 최근 인터넷이 발달함에도 불구하고 신형 장비들은 이더넷 포트를 내장하고 있으나, 구형 장비들은 시리얼 포트가 내장되어 있는 경우가 많다. 따라서 이를 유지 보수하기 위해서는 원격지에서 모뎀을 통하여 작업을 하거나 직접 기기 앞에서 작업을 해야 하는 번거로움과 낭비가 있다. 본 연구를 통하여 시리얼 장비중 특히, 교환기들을 이더넷상에서 통제하고 관리할 수 있도록, 임베디드 보드에 실시간 리눅스 운영체제 및 기타 응용 소프트웨어를 구축한 실시간 임베디드 시스템을 개발한다. 테스트 결과 원격지에서 시리얼 교환기에 접속할 수 있었으며, 상태 체크 및 제어가 가능함을 확인하여 기타 시리얼 장비들에도 응용 가능함을 확인하였다

  • This paper proposes to integrate WAP(Wireless Application Protocol) with Bluetooth to implement a home automation system. One of the most important benefits of the proposed approach is the elimination of the problem of limited distance of Bluetooth as less than 10 meter. With WAP providing a data link between the Internet and a mobile phone and embedded WEB camera through Bluetooth, we can control various home appliances whenever and wherever we want. The hardware and software design issues for implementing such system are discussed and a pilot home automation system is implemented.

  • The automotive industry tries to provide infotainment systems to emerging automobiles. Since the infotainment systems require various peripheral devices and network connectivity, legacy operating systems such as Linux and Windows can be much preferred due to its plentiful device drivers and multimedia applications while the operating systems following OSEK standard are used for automotive electronic control units. Thus it is highly desired that the system software supporting infotainment applications can be portable over different legacy operating systems providing unified programming interfaces. The majority of legacy operating systems support POSIX interfaces for application development. MOST is an automotive network standard for infotainment systems. Network Service defines the protocol stacks for MOST control data, which is essential to implement infotainment applications over MOST. In this paper, we suggest a POSIX-based Network Service so that we can utilize legacy device drivers and applications for automotive infotainment systems. We measure the performance of the POSIX-based Network Service and show that its overhead is not significant.

  • CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) car-borne equipment, a part of the communication based train control system, mainly consists of automatic train protection(ATP) functions, automatic train operation(ATO) functions as well as the interface functions with other equipment including CBTC wayside equipment and train control management system etc. The CBTC car-borne software implementing ATP/ATO functions is a real-time embedded software requiring a high level of safety and reliability. To satisfy the requirements of the CBTC car-borne software, the model-based design techniques are applied with SCADE(Safety-Critical Application Development Environment) to the development of the CBTC car-borne software. In this paper, we illustrate the process modeling the car-borne ATP/ATO functions satisfying system requirement specification with system requirement management, modeling and document generation tools etc. supported by SCADE. In addition, the developed models corresponding to the ATP/ATO functions are applied to the train with CBTC car-borne equipment through its corresponding EN-50128 standards-compliant C code generated by the code generator. It is shown from the test result that the ATP/ATO models developed by SCADE work well while the trains are running in driverless operation mode.

  • Security and monitoring system has many applications and commonly used for detection, warning, alarm, etc. As the networking technology advances, user requirements are getting higher. An intelligent and cooperative surveillance system is proposed to meet current user demands and improve the performance. This paper focuses on the implementation issue for the embedded intelligent surveillance system. To cover wide area cooperative function is implemented and connected by wireless sensor network technology. Also to improve the performance lots of sensors are employed into the surveillance system to reduce the error but improve the detection probability. The proposed surveillance system is composed of vision sensor (camera), mic array sensor, PIR sensor, etc. Between the sensors, data is transferred by IEEE 802.11s or Zigbee protocol. We deployed a private network for the sensors and multiple gateways for better data throughput. The developed system is targeted to the traffic accident detection and alarm. However, its application can be easily changed to others by just changing software algorithm in a DSP chip.
