Anti-Wrinkling Effect of Noni (Morinda citrifolia) by Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Properties

  • Noni has been used for medicinal purposes for more than 2,000 years in South Pacific Polynesia, China and India, and has been heavily ingested as an extract for its excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. However, a recent study found that the noni extract causes digestive disorders, kidney problems, and liver diseases, which made it necessary to use it for other purposes than as an extract. In this study, we want to evaluate the potential of noni as an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-wrinkling agent. Methods: Noni was freeze-dried, extracted in water, and concentrated. Skin cells were treated with the noni extract for 24 hrs and then were exposed to UVB (55 mJ/cm2). After 48 hrs of incubation, pro-inflammatory cytokine, elastase, MMP-1 and type-1 procollagen levels were measured by ELISA. Results: To find out the antioxidant effect of the noni extract, the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity experiments were conducted and the noni extract showed 97.0 % and 92.0 % antioxidant efficacy at 200 ㎍/mL respectively. The noni extract (50 and 100 ㎍/mL) decreased IL-6 and TNF-α in RAW 264.7 cells induced by LPS in a concentration-dependent manner. In the RT-PCR experiment involving NO production, the noni extract (50 and 100 ㎍/mL) inhibited NO production by strongly inhibiting iNOS mRNA expression, and also inhibited the elevation of MMP-1 and elastases caused by UVB irradiation by 25.0 % and 7.0 % respectively. In addition, type-1 procollagen was elevated by 20.0 % by the noni extract treatment in HaCaT cells. Conclusion: The noni extract has photoprotective ability by reducing proinflammatory mediators, elastase and MMP-1 production, and elevation of collagen synthesis. Our findings suggest that the noni extract might be a good natural substance to protect against UVB-induced premature skin aging.

지하수 이용 지열 히트펌프 시스템의 주거용 건물 적용시 난방성능 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Heating Performance of SCW Type Geothermal Heat Pump System for Residential House)

  • Geothermal heat pump system using sanding column well type with their ground heat exchanger can be used as a highly efficient source of heating and cooling in massive buildings. But there is no case of a small scale residential house. So in the residential house this study estimated heating coefficient of performance (COP) of geothermal heat pump system using sanding column well type which is excellent in heat recovery. As a result of analysis, The COP of heat pump is over average 6 and is excellent. And in consequence of making a comparative study according to the bleeding, the COP is higher in the case of bleeding. Therefore, bleeding affects the performance of the system. This study has shown performance result that stands on actual data. Therefore, this study provides ground data that needs when a low capacity of system designs for a residence with confidence elevation.

Combined Hepatocellular-Cholangiocarcinoma in Extrahepatic Bile Duct with Co-existing of Scirrhous Type of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

  • We report a patient with combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma confined in the common hepatic duct and scirrhous type of hepatocellular carcinoma in the caudate lobe of liver simultaneously. The patient was a 55-yearsold Korean man with hepatitis B virus (HBV) carrier who was referred from a local hospital due to detected liver mass on abdominal computed tomography (CT). He has presented jaundice and weight loss for the previous 3 weeks. Laboratory examination showed AST/ALT elevation and hyperbilirubinemia. HBsAg was positive. The tumor marker study showed elevated AFP and DCP, not CEA and CA 19-9. Abdominal CT disclosed an about 2.1×0.9 cm sized soft tissue density in hilum with both intrahepatic duct (IHD) dilatations and an about 3×2.1 cm sized arterial enhancing lesion at segment 8 of the liver. Patient received 15 cycles of Gemcitabine/Cisplantin chemotherapy from February 27, 2013 to December 31, 2013. Caudate lobectomy of liver, segmental resection of bile duct and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy was performed on February 10, 2014. The final pathologic report showed double primary liver cancer, combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma in common hepatic bile duct and scirrhous type of hepatocellular carcinoma in segment 1 of the liver. This is a very unusual case in which combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma confined in the large bile duct and two rare hepatic cancers coexisted.

  • This paper is related to investigate adding effect of fluorine-silicate hybrid type crack controlling agent(FS) on initial behavior, dynamic properties, adibatic hydration temp, and plastic crack behavior of concrete(Specification : 25-30-18). It is appeared that adding of FS contributed to strength elevation, lowering of hydration temperature as well as plastic crack reduction without disturbance of initial behaviors of concrete such as slump, air content and setting.

  • 태양의 고도와 방위각에 따라 태양광 발전 시스템의 에너지량이 차이가 많이 난다. 본 연구는 소규모 독립형 시스템인 가로등에 맞는 경제적인 추적장치 개발에 관한 것이다. 위치추적시스템은 프로그램을 사용한 방식으로서 시스템을 기존 유사 시스템에 비해 저가화를 실현하였다. 개발된 태양 위치 추적 시스템을 가로등에 적용하여 고정식과 추적식의 에너지량을 일정 기간 동안 실측 비교한 결과 평균 86%의 효율개선 효과를 보았다.

TPI와 경사도 조합을 이용한 산사태 위험도 평가 (Landslide Susceptibility Assessment Using TPI-Slope Combination)

  • TPI (Topographic Position Index)와 경사도를 조합하여 새로운 산사태 인자인 TSI (TPI-Slope Index)를 제안하고 산사태 예측모형에 적용하였다. 이를 위해, 먼저 다양한 분석 반경의 TPI를 서로 비교하여 TPI350이 연구 대상 지역에 가장 적합함을 알아내었고, 이를 경사도와 조합하여 TSI를 제작하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 TSI의 적용성을 평가하기 위해 로지스틱 회귀분석을 이용한 결과, 산사태 예측 모형에 활용할 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다. 그 후, 기타 지형 정보들과 토양 및 임상 정보를 추가하여 산사태 위험도를 평가하는 로지스틱 회귀 모형을 제작하였다. 이를 위해 DEM (Digital Elevation Model), 토양도, 임상도로부터 추출할 수 있는 산사태 관련 인자들을 수집하고 이들을 검토하여 다른 인자와 상관도가 높거나 산사태와의 연관성이 낮은 인자들은 우선 제외하였다. 그 결과, TSI, 고도, 사면 길이, 경사향, 유효 토심, 영급, 나무 밀도, 임상 등 8개의 인자가 선정되어 회귀분석에 독립변수로 입력되었다. 변수의 입력 방법(전진 선택법, 후진 제거법, 직접 선택법)에 따라 3가지 모형을 생성하였고, 이들에 대한 평가를 수행하였다. 세 모형에서 선택된 변수는 조금씩 다르지만, 공통적으로 유효 토심, 나무 밀도, TSI 인자의 중요도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.

  • Korea Protestant slower growth and social church's changes in the environment of the traditional worship center for the sermon to a variety of changes was required, because of this period reflects the availability of a new type of worship was to appear. These changes in the type of worship in the form of the worship space, and space configuration is affecting many more. This study was the type of church korea today, the type is classified as a traditional worship and contemporary worship, and to characterize the category by a change in the type of church worship space in the configuration that affects cases throughout the analysis was to investigate, study follows. Traditional worship the center of the altar, the altar placed platform form, a vertical elevation of the platform sheet form, the installation of the cross, place the side of the choir seats, church chair type attribute appears tradition and in part compressed pulpit appears symbolism. Contemporary worship to the exclusion of the symbolic elements of the platform open, flat sheet form and the platform was the preferred form of minor elevations of the flat, multi-purpose space used for worship to sermon platform placed around the altar of the adjustable type, the choir seats placed in scheelite, preferred form of scheelite was an individual chair. However, the characteristics of traditional and contemporary worship space features a mix of worship space, quite a lot of cases that have been found. Integrated and consistent element of the worship space, the worship of the discrepancy in the form of systematic theological depth analysis did not come true without lust about contemporary culture is changing rapidly to accommodate sprawl is judged. Therefore, the characteristics of the type of worship and prayer to understand the changes in the church building is a prerequisite to be a very important aspect.

Vegetation Structure of Hovenia dulcis Community in South Korea

  • Objectives of this study are to make clear the vegetation structure of Hovenia dulcis community in the Korean Peninsula over ten mountains including 17 plots. The results were summarized as follows. Habitat of the community indicated that elevation ranged from 115 meter to 720 meter at the sea level, slope aspect in nearly all directions, bare rock from 0 to 90 percent, slope degree from 10$^{\circ}$ to 40$^{\circ}$, topography from valley to middle slope, the height of tree layer from 8m to 22m, the diameter at breast height from 12cm to 59cm and coverage from 65% to 95$\%$$\%$

계룡산국립공원(鷄龍山國立公園) 계곡부(溪谷部) 식생(植生)의 구조(構造)와 DCCA에 의한 식생(植生)과 환경(環境)과의 상관관계(相關關係) 분석(分析) (An Analysis of Vegetation Structure and Vegetation-Environment Relationships with DCCA in the Valley Part of Kyeryongsan national Park)

  • 본 연구는 계룡산의 동학사, 갑사, 신원사 지역의 계곡부 산림식생을 대상으로 1999년 8월에 50개소의 방형구를 설치하여 식생조사를 실시하였으며, TWINSPAN과 DCCA ordination을 이용하여 군락분류, 임분구조 특성 및 환경요인과의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 1. TWINSPAN에 의한 분류 결과는 서어나무군락, 굴참나무-졸참나무군락, 느티나무-풍게나무군락, 까치박달군락으로 구분되었다. 2. 계룡산 계곡부 산림식생의 중요치를 각 군락별로 살펴보면 서어나무군락에서 중요치가 높은 종은 서어나무, 굴참나무, 졸참나무, 소나무, 때죽나무 등의 순으로, 굴참나무-졸참나무군락은 굴참나무, 졸참나무, 때죽나무, 밤나무, 굴피나무 등의 순으로 나타났다. 그리고 느티나무-풍게나무군락은 졸참나무, 밤나무, 비목나무, 느티나무, 때죽나무 등의 순으로 나타났으며 까치박달군락에서 중요치가 높은 종은 까치박달, 서어나무, 사람주나무, 층층나무, 느티나무 등의 순으로 나타났다. 3. DCCA ordination에 의한 4개의 각 군락과 환경요인과의 상관관계를 보면 서어나무군락은 다른 군락에 비하여 경사가 급하고 해발고가 비교적 낮은 지역에서 분포하고 있으며, 굴참나무-졸참나무군락은 해발고가 낮고 경사가 완만한 지역에서 분포하고 있다. 그리고 느티나무-풍게나무군락은 해발고가 가장 높고 경사가 비교적 완만한 지역에서 분포하고 있으며, 까치박달군락은 다소 해발고가 높고 경사가 중간인 지역에서 분포하고 있었다.
