도시와 농촌 지역의 초등학교 저학년 아동 가정의 가정환경자극 분석 (An Analysis of the Elementary School Children′s Home Environment Stimulation in Urban and Rural Areas)

  • This study investigated the degree of stimulation of home environments for elementary school children in Seoul, Inchon, Yangpyung and Kimpo areas. The subjects of this study were 240 mothers. Instruments included the inventory of home stimulation (HOME) for elementary school children. The main results obtained from this study were as follows : The degree of stimulation of home environments differed according to children's sex, birth order, mother's age, mother's employment status, mother's education, income of the family, type of the family, religion, type of the house and living areas (urban and rural).

A Study on the Relation between English Proficiency and Learning Environment in Elementary Schools

  • This paper examines the relationship between children's English proficiency in grade three and English learning environment and experiences before entering elementary school. In English learning environment and experiences, three influences consisting of children, home environment, and environmental influences of English learning are used to find out which influences contributed to children's English proficiency in grade three of elementary school. The result of this study shows that children with high interest in English have higher proficiency in all language skills reading, writing, listening, and speaking than that of children with low interests. For parents' influences, parents' high interests toward their children's English leaning and high monthly income result in children's high English proficiency. For English environmental influences, children who start at the early age and continue studying English have higher English proficiency.

초등학교 비만아와 정상체중아의 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 변인 (Effects of Self-perceived Obesity, Peer Victimization, Stress, and Maternal Child Rearing Behaviors on the Self-esteem of Obese and Normal Weight Elementary School Children)

  • This study examined effects of self-perceived obesity, peer victimization, stress, and maternal child rearing behaviors on self-esteem in an obese group(OG) and a normal weight group(NWG) of elementary school children. Subjects were 1,501 elementary school children in the 4th to the 6th grades in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Andong and their mothers. Major findings were that maternal child rearing behaviors and stress related to parents and home environments influenced children's self esteem only in the NWG; school-related stress was an influential variable on children's self esteem in both the NWG and OG. Peer victimization influenced children's self-esteem in both NWG and OG. Self-perceived obesity influenced some domains of children's self-esteem, especially in girls.

초등학생의 영양교육을 위한 식습관 및 영양지식 조사 (A Survey on Dietary Habit and Nutritional Knowledge for Elementary School Children's Nutritional Education)

  • The aim of this study is to survey the eating habits and nutritional knowledge of children in Pusan, with a view to uncovering problems and their underlying causes and cultivating desirable dietary habit and nutrition for children. Three hundred and fifty six elementary school students were asked questions about their eating habits and nutritional knowledge as well as general information about their personal characteristics. The results showed: 1. Only 53.5% of the subjects had breakfast every day. Seventy-six percent of the subjects had dinner every day. Only 40% of the children took meals and talked with family at both breakfast and dinner. Thus there was little opportunity for dietary guidance by parents. 2. About half of the subjects answered that their appetite decreased after eating snack foods between meals. A third of the subjects liked the baked goods as snacks. Because of their high sugar and fat content, they can damage children's health, resulting in child diabetes and tooth decay. For this reason, careful education is necessary to allow children to be able to select snack foods that are appropriate in kind and quantity. 3. About 85% of the subjects had an unbalanced diet. Therefore systematic nutrition education at school is necessary to instill in children the value of balanced diet. 4. Children preferred rice to other cereals as a staple food. They disliked kimchi, seasoned and blanched foods and salads as subsidiary foods. It is therefore necessary to teach children systematically the nutritional advantage of cereals and vegetables and to heighten their awareness of Korean food culture. 5. Children had a low level of nutritional knowledge. The knowledge of specific nutrients was lower than that of foods. In conclusion, systematical educational programs need to be developed at elementary school. These should include information about achieving a balanced diet, good eating habit, meal management and Korean dietary culture. Nutritional education at home must be emphasized.

어머니의 감독, 활동공유, 교육지향행동, 스마트폰 허용여부가 초등학교 저학년 아동의 스마트 미디어 이용패턴에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Maternal Monitoring, Shared Activities, Education-Oriented Behavior, and Allowing Children to Own Smart-Phones on the Smart Media Usage Patterns of Elementary School Children)

  • Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of maternal monitoring, shared activities with children, maternal education-oriented behavior, and allowing children to own smart-phones on smart media usage patterns based on smart-phone usage time and purposes among elementary school children. Methods: The participants were 1,315 second-grade elementary school children from the 9th wave of PSKC. Latent profile analysis and the three-step estimation approach were used to examine the determinants of the latent profile and the effects of maternal parenting on the profile. Results: Four latent profiles were identified: 'High-level usage & Entertaining oriented,' 'Moderate-level usage & Social/entertaining oriented,' 'Moderate-level usage & Learning oriented,' and 'Low-level usage.' Additionally, results showed that each profile can be predicted by maternal monitoring, education-oriented behavior, and permitting children to own smart-phones. Conclusion/Implications: Our outcomes suggested that it would be necessary to understand the smart media usage patterns of elementary school children, considering both the amount of time spent with smart media and purposes of uses. Further, it is helpful for mothers to monitor children's daily activities, support their educational activities, and take the role of gatekeeper for smart media as a way of appropriate guidance for their children's use of smart media.

아동의 장소성 구축가능성으로 본 초등학교시설의 외부공간계획 분석: 사용자 점유이전의 공간계획을 중심으로 (An Analysis of Outdoor Space in Elementary School Design based on the Possibility of Forming a Sense of Place for Children: With Focus on the Spatial Planning before the Occupation)

  • The sense of place at school environment becomes more important as children increasingly spend more time in school and children's attachment to the environment affects the cognition development of children. The goal of this research is to identify characteristics that enhance the sense of place for children in outdoor space and check the possibilities of forming it in the school environments. Through the analysis of design document and design report for schematic design of elementary school which is executed through Korean Institute of Educational Facilities between 2002-2005, 47cases from 32elementary schools are analyzed. As a result it is found that designers tend to orient towards the visual aspects compared to other invisible aspects such as thermal comfort and participation of children, which is extracted as a key characteristics of forming a sense of place for children. More attention is required to enhance the sense of place in school environment to support the child development in everyday space.

A Study on the Factors Related to the Seafood Preference of Elementary School Children

  • This study was undertaken with 237 fifth grade children to investigate the factors, affecting the seafood prefrerence of elementary school children as one of the approaches to find strategies to promote these children's acceptance of seafoods. Subjects for this study were from one public elementary school under meal service located each in Boryeoung-city Chungcheongna Co (coastal area) and Chelowon gen Gangwon do land locked area) The preferences for than those in Boryeong and differences in may items were significant Among four area gender groups girls in Cheolwon had the lowest preference for most seafood items except cephalocoda for which the preference of body in Cheolwon was the lowest Making soup was the least preferred method to cook fish regardless of gender and area, while grilling was the most or the second most preferred in each gender area group Compared to girls bodys had a higher preference for deep frying The seafood preferences of mothers in both areas were similar to those of their children except for processed seafoods which were even more preferred by the children than mothers. Gender, distance from the sea and the method of preparation/cooking seemed to affect the children's preference more than their mother's preference and frequency of serving in the case of seafood. And the effect of gender distance from the sea and cooking methods differed for each seafood category The several suggestions to improve seafood preference especially in land locked area are discussed.

집단미술치료프로그램이 초등학교 고립아동의 자아개념 및 학교생활적응에 미치는 효과 (An Effect of a Group Art Treatment Program on Isolated Children's Self-Concept and Adaptation to the School Life in Elementary School)

  • This study aimed at examining an effect of a group art treatment program on isolated children's self-concept and adaptation to the school life in an elementary school. To achieve this goal, the two hypotheses were made. Hypothesis 1. Children in the experimental group that participated in the group art treatment program will show more improvement in self-concept than those in the control group. Hypothesis 2. Children in the experimental group that participated in the group art treatment program will show more improvement in the ability to adapt themselves to the school life than those in the control group. To test the hypotheses, the socio-emotional isolation test developed by Heo Seung-hi (1993) was carried out with 120 third-graders at K elementary school in Busan; then, 24 isolated children (12 boys and 12 girls) at the upper 25 percent level were randomly sampled and assigned to each of experimental and control groups. The five-stage art treatment program as a reconstruction of the prior study to meet the goal of this study was provided to children in the experimental group at the researcher's classroom after school for 13 sessions, two sessions per week. The self-concept test manufactured by Song In-seop (1996), the school life adaptation test developed by Lee Yeong-seon (1997), and the experimental group's school life drawing (KSD) were used to test an effect of the program. For data analysis, two methods, a quantitative analysis of two tests and a qualitative analysis of KSD, were used. The findings were as follows: After implementing the art treatment program with the experimental group, there was significant improvement in all areas. This study concluded that if a group art treatment program is applied to elementary school practice, it will help isolated children improve their self-concept and ability to adapt themselves to the school life.

유아 교구로봇 프로그램 개발을 위한 유아와 초등학생 로봇교육의 연구동향 분석 (Analysis of Research Trends on Robot Education of Young Children and Elementary Students for the Development of Hands-on Robot Program for Young Children)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 유아의 교구로봇 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초연구로 유아와 초등학생의 로봇교육에 대한 연구동향을 알아보는 데 있다. 유아와 초등학생 로봇교육과 관련된 2006년부터 2016년 5월까지의 학위논문과 학술지 논문 총 155편을 대상으로 연도별 동향, 연구내용, 효과성 검증 등을 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 연구주제에서 유아는 통합교육, 태도 및 인식연구, 반응연구 순이며, 초등학생은 프로그래밍 교육, 설계개발 연구, 통합교육 순으로 연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 연구방법에서 유아는 관찰연구가, 초등학생은 개발연구가 가장 많이 나타났다. 효과성 검증에서 유아는 사회적 정서적 관련 연구, 초등학생은 창의성 관련 연구가 많았다. 연구결과에 대한 논의를 바탕으로 유아 교구로봇 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고, 유아와 초등학생의 SW교육과 연계하여 로봇교육의 방향과 시사점을 제안하였다.

청소년 자녀의 생활시간 사용에 부모의 양육태도가 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Parenting Attitude to Using Life Time of Adolescent Children)

  • This research aimed to observe adolescent children's use of time and to discover the parent-related factors that affect adolescent children's use of time. The subjects included 2,092 fourth-grade elementary school students and 2,108 first-grade middle school students. We used data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. We tested sociodemographic factors, parents characteristics, and time usage, and we studied these factors using SPSS version 23.0; the results are as follows. Firstly, in the subordinate scope of the child-rearing attitude of parents, affection fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 1.83) and first-grade middle school students(M = 2.02). Inconsistency had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 1.99), and first-grade middle school students(M = 2.12). Excessive expectations had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 2.40) and first-grade middle school students(M = 2.55). Over-involvement had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 2.68)and first-grade middle school students(M = 2.80). Finally, giving reasonable explanations had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 1.51)and first-grade middle school students(M = 1.68). Secondly, in fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 463.35) and first-grade middle school students(M = 378.75). Further, studying hours during weekdays had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 456.15) and first-grade middle school students(M = 460.86). Free activity hours during had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 390.54) and first-grade middle school students(M = 387.11). Sleeping hours during holidays had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 544.85) and first-grade middle school students (M = 511.74). Studying hours during holidays had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students (M = 484.86) and first-grade middle school students (M = 511.74). Free activity hours during holidays had an effect on fourth-grade elementary school students(M = 518.68) and first-grade middle school students(M = 509.73). Thirdly, by observing the relative influence of related factors on adolescent children's use of time, grade(${\beta}$ = -.284), gender(${\beta}$ = -.208), over-involvement(${\beta}$ = -.380), supervising(${\beta}$ = -.217), and (${\beta}$ = .243) in terms of the child-rearing attitudes of parents was found to affect study hours($F=2.595^{**}$). The education level of fathers(${\beta}$ = -.144) results in(${\beta}$ = 1.991) and longer free activity hours for children($F= 4.116^{***}$). This research can be used to study the influence of parents'child-rearing attitudes on adolescent children's use of time and to suggest the role of parents in adolescents' ability to manage time effectively using practical.
