The purpose of this study was to provide basic data of nutrition education to teach the right eating habit and lifestyle by investigating eating habit of students in private and public elementary schools of Kangnam and Kangbuk region. When the eating habit was investigated, there was no difference between the residential region, and school types. Depending on gender and person who cooked, there was meaningful difference in the eating habit. When the mother or father cooked for the student, his or her child had breakfast everyday, had a meal regularly, enjoyed the meal with the family, and left less food. This shows that the meal with family is a very positive factor in the formation of right eating habit. The female students tend to eat snacks, skip breakfast, have unbalanced diet, leave food, and watch TV during a meal more than the male students. Therefore, the female students need more education of eating habit. Also, not many the students usually got corrected their bad eating habits from others, and this showed that no proper guidance of their bad eating habits was done. Nevertheless, the students tried to correct their eating habits by themselves. If the schools and students' give them the proper education about eating habit, it can be more effective. Therefore, the school should teach the students and their parents the right table manner and nutrition information through a systematical curriculum. In special cases, they should teach the students individually.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the parent related factors that influence internet game addiction among elementary school students. Method: Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires and descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Data survey was conducted with 739 conveniently selected students who were in grades 4, 5, and 6 of elementary schools in Seoul or Gyung-gi province. Results: The addiction groups were classified as general user group (84.3%), potential risk group (10.0%) and high risk group (5.7%). There were significant internet game addiction differences by gender, grade, expense of internet cafe, religion, school record, place where child played, economic status, and duration and frequency of game play. The addiction was negatively correlated to parents' attachment, supervision, attitude to child nurturing, and expectations regarding school study. The most significant variables were both parents' attitude to child nurturing, and mother's supervision. These three variables explained 20.7% of internet game addiction in elementary school students. Conclusion: These findings are expected to make a contribution to the creation of ideal interventions at school, home, and counselling centers to prevent internet game addiction.
Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the changed parenting experiences of mothers of elementary school kids living in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak in Korea. Methods: From July to August in 2020, 10 mothers parenting elementary school students under the COVID-19 were interviewed in depth. For data analysis, a phenomenological research methodology suggested by Colaizzi was used. Results: According to the analysis, the experiences of mothers consisted of four categories: the 'pain from the uncontrollable COVID-19', 'the problem of family relations due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation', 'standing firm against the drastic changes', and 'accepting the world changed by the COVID-19'. Conclusion: The findings in this study vividly represent the parenting experiences of mothers of elementary school students after the outbreak of COVID-19. As the pandemic persists, mothers parenting elementary school students feel complex emotions and experience exhaustion, but in the process, they found family members growing positively and trying to adjust to each other to overcome the crisis. To support positive adaptation to catastrophic situations, an institutional and political foundation is needed to develop a systematic crisis management program customized for mothers and families of elementary school students. The results of this study can be used as basic data when establishing national policies and support systems so that mothers parenting elementary school students can better adapt to and overcome crisis situations.

The purpose of this study was to identify how safety awareness and self-efficacy affect the safety practice with elementary school students. The participants were 369 elementary school students(4~6th grade) in Changwon city. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires and analyzed with the SPSSWIN 22.0 program. Analysis methods were t-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearsons correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression. As a results, safety awareness was an average 2.97 point which was moderate levels and self-efficacy was on over intermediate level of an average 3.73 point. Safety practice was an 3.00 point. Safety practice had statistically significant difference according to grade, number of family, mother's education, character and school life attitude. Safety awareness(r=.41, p<.001) and self-efficacy(r=.39, p<.001) was significant correlation with safety practice. Fire safety(${\beta}=.22$, t=3.56) and self-efficacy(${\beta}=.27$, t=5.32) were significantly influenced safety practice and explaining 24.0% of the variance. From the results of this study, I proposed the education programs to increase safety practice in elementary school students that emphasizes self-efficacy and safety awareness.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the determinants on the absence of after-school care among elementary students. This study is based on the National Children and Youth Panel Survey(2010) data and analyzed through Binary Logit Model and Multinominal Logit Model. The Following results were obtained: First, school grades, the number of siblings, mother's education, family type by parental employment, family structure, family type by parental nativity, and family income, all affected the absence of after-school care. Second, the absence days of after-school care was affected by different factors. 1day-2days a week in absence of after-school was more likely to increase among children with more siblings and an older father. On the other hand, spending over 3-4days a week without after-school care was more likely to increase among mothers with lower education, dual-earner families, multicultural families, lower family incomes, small cities and rural areas. Based on the results of this study, we agree with the generalization and the diversification of after-school care policy for elementary school students.

This study has attempted to investigate the time use of the elementary school students and their satisfaction levels by their general characteristics for the educational guidance. The sample of this study consisted of 387 elementary school students on Jeju Island who are in the fifth or sixth year. The data were analysed by frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's test. The major results of this study were as follows; The results of this study showed that the students spent much time for studying including extra programs as like their ages. Also, their leisure time focused on watching TV or doing computer. The levels of satisfaction according to the time use were slightly high although their time allocation was not various. The time use of the students and their satisfaction levels were significantly affected by the general family situation related to parents as well as their own characteristics. The variables such as the student's sex, parent's educational level, whether the mother is employed or not, and monthly allowance were important to result in the differences of the time use and satisfaction levels among the students. The leisure time was strongly related with the satisfaction levels.
The object of this study was to help designing of well-fit and comfortable brassieres for the elementary school girls through the survey on actual condition of wearing brassieres. The subjects of investigation for this study was the elementary school girls in the province of Jeonbuk and Taejeon city. The conclusion of this study was as follows; The 40.2% of the total subjects were wearing brassieres like the 63.3% of the fourth, the 85.4% of the fifth, and the 89.7% of the sixth grade students. The main reason of non wearing brassieres was for the underdeveloped breast, and also that of wearing brassieres was for the good shape of the breast. The main types of brassieres were ranked "Tank Top type", "Mold type", and "Adolescent girl-Bra". They had started to wear brassieres by the recommendation of adults who were their mother or teachers, and usually wearing brassieres all day. They usually purchased brassieres "with mother together" or "only by their mother". The standard of choosing brassieres was also ranked by FASHION, CONVENIENCE, SIZE, TOUCH, and SWEAT ABSORPTION. The total score of satisfaction for wearing brassieres was showed "Average score" and the score higher in Jeonju and Taejeon than in Kunsan. The higher grade and fatter was showed decreasing the score of satisfaction. The higher grade became, the more various for the size and preferable a pure cotton fabric for brassieres. The favorite types of brassieres were "Sport Bra" and "Volume-up Bra". They usually purchased a little larger size than their original size of that.
The object of this study was to investigate the relationship between the eating habits of high(4th, 5th, 6th) grade elementary school students and parental behavior characteristics(affection, rational guidance, overprotect and neglect). The parenting behavior scale and demographic variables, eating habits and food frequency were administered to the subjects. In this investigation, the subjects were 396 boys and 337 girls in Chunju city in Korea, 50.1% of the mothers was in the age from 35 to 39 years and 57.8% of the mother had an occupation. Data were analyzed by using a SPSS PS package. Significant differences and correlation among variables were determined by the frequency, $x^2-test$ and pearson's correlation coefficient. Eating habits was significantly influenced by mother's employment status, but was not affected by the levels of mother's education and income. Parental behavior characteristics was significantly related to the children's snacks habits(p<0.05, p<0.01), but have no connection with dietary habits and the eating out. The survey revealed higher percentage of the children who had taken affectionate, reasonable and positively reinforced child care, answered they enjoy meals and the other groups answered they did not. Also frequency of having soup, green vegetables, fruits, dairy products had positive relationship with affective, reasonable rearing attitude, but negative relationship with neglective rearing attitude. And the survey showed children who were reared in overprotect had chocolate, candy and the like in large quantities.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dietary attitude and food behavior of elementary, middle and high school students in Korea. The subjects in this study were 7,698 boys and girls in large cities in Korea. The questionnaire was made and distributed to the students to answer the questions. Followings are the results of this study : 1) Father and mother's average ages were 45 and 41 years old, respectively. 2) Most students thought dietary life was more important than clothing or residentary life. Dietary habits such as irregularity of meal, frequencies of skipping meal and of eating out increased in higher grade than in lower grade, and in girls than in boys. 3) Most students, especially in elementary school, recognized that their own bad dietary habbit was unbalanced diet. Irregular meal time and eating too much were also pointed out as problems by middle and high school students. 4) Most students thought that the most effective meal for health was breakfast, but they replied the tartest meal as dinner. 5) Students tended to prefer Korean style food. Cooked rice and kimchi, ramyun, and pizza were ranked the most preferred food when they were hungry. 6) Elementary school students ate meals more regularly than higher grade students, and girls ate meals more regularly than boys. 7) Skipping rate of breakfast was higher than that of lunch or dinner, and the percentage of meal skipping students was increasing with grade elevation. No time to eat or eating between meals was the reasons of irregular meal time. 8) Frequency of dining with family was decreased, but frequency of eating out with friends was increased with increasing grade. The gravity of dining out is increasing rapidly in Korean adolescents. Therefore, nationwide nutrition education policy is necessary to constitute a right dietary environment and a desirable dietary altitude.
Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the determining factors that have influence on elementary students who go without breakfast and identified their physical, mental and social health that may resulted by skipping breakfast. Methods: For data collection, total 855 elementary students at the 5th and 6th grade in an urban and a rural area were asked to join the survey using a self-administered questionnaire from March 25 to April 9, 2005. The data were analyzed through a series of statistical methods including frequency, percentage, chi-square$(X^2)$ test, t-test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: It was found that 24.0 % of respondents would skip breakfast, and influential socioeconomic factors on their skipped breakfast were economic level and mother's occupation. A group that has meals more with family everyday and a group that has breakfast served by mother as usual showed significantly low percentage of going without breakfast at statistical level(p<0.05). In case that other family members used to go without breakfast, there was a tendency to significantly high rate of skipped breakfast(p<0.01). And a group who got up early in the morning and a group who scored high points in the assessment of dietary habit showed significantly low percentage of skipped breakfast(p<0.01). In the result of multiple logistic regression analysis, the significant variables in urban area were economic level, person setting up breakfast, getting-up time and family members who would skip a meal. In rural area, meal-skipping family member, person setting up breakfast and dietary habit were significant variables(p<0.05). In physical influences according to skipping breakfast, students would skip breakfast had more stomach or dizziness(p<0.05). Depression score were higher and school life score were lower in group skipping breakfast, but not statistically significant. Conclusions: In conclusion, in order to reduce the rate of elementary students who often go without breakfast, it is favorable that they should be instructed in the importance of breakfast and the harm of skipped meal, so that they can cultivate positive living habits and dietary attitudes as well. And it is necessary that this health education cover not only students but also all of their family members(especially mother). Furthermore, it is necessary to develop systematic programs for them to get over environment factors.
