신개념 해양안전기술 (A Study on Trends of Technologies for Maritime Safety)

  • 국제교역의 확대에 따라 선박을 통한 물동량의 증가와 이에 따른 선박의 고속화/대형화, 해양자원 개발 및 공간 활용을 위한 해양구조물의 증가와 대형화, 삶의 수준 향상에 따른 해양 관광 및 레저 활동이 급격히 증가하고 있으며 대형 해양사고의 위험도 급격히 증가하고 있다. 아울러, 인류의 미래 삶의 터전인 해양환경 및 자원의 보전을 위한 전 지구적인 요구도 증가하고 있으며, 국제해사기구(IMO) 등 국제기구를 통한 안전 및 환경보호를 위한 규제가 지속적으로 강화하고 되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 국제기구 및 관련 국가들의 지속적인 노력에도 불구하고 대형 해상사고가 지속적으로 발생하고 있으며, 그 피해도 대형화되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 지속적으로 강화되는 안전 및 환경보호에 대한 국제적인 요구에 효율적으로 대응 하고 우리나라 해양 산업의 미래경쟁력 강화를 위한 수단으로서 위해도 기반(risk-based), 정보 통신기술 기반 (ICT- based), 인적요소 (human element)를 기반으로 한 새로운 개념의 해양안전 기술의 기본개념 및 핵심기술요소를 정의하고 이를 확보하기 위한 방안을 제안하였다.

  • The roll gap set-up in the finishing mill is one of the most important technologies in the hot plate rolling process. As the target thickness can be obtained by the correct set-up of the roll gap, improving the roll gap set-up technology is very critical for plate thickness accuracy. The main cause of thickness variation in hot plate mills is the non-uniform temperature distribution along the length of the slab. The objective of this study is to adjust the roll gap set-up for the thickness accuracy of plate in hot rolling process considering top-end temperature drop. Therefore this study has concentrated on determining the correct amounts of roll gap to compensate thickness variation due to top-end temperature drop. The off-line simulation of compensated roil gap significantly decreases top-end thickness variation.

  • CWR technology is generally believed to contribute to the increase of train speed and bring a variety of significant advantages, such as the decrease in track works, noise and vibration as well as the improvement of passenger comfort. In CWR technology, welding is considered to be one of the most important element technologies. Among the various welding methods, gas pressure welding is the most frequently used in vicinity of train line station since the operation is simple and the instruments are not heavy. The gas pressure welding is constructed exactly by good manual book on which simple and excellent welding methods is written and has the same performance as raw material. But this can be poor in the variety of the processing of rail end surface to be welded, the control of oxyacetylene flame and axil compressive force. This study tries to describe the characteristics of gas pressure welding, defect-causing factors and preventive counterplan of defects

고체상 수소저장기술 동향 (Review : Hydrogen Storage in Solid State)

  • Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Although hydrogen can produce three times more energy than gasoline and seven times than coal, the most challenging problem in utilizing hydrogen as energy carrier is its storage problem. In contrast to the liquid hydrocarbon, hydrogen can not be stored or transported easily and safely because of its extremely low boiling point(21K). Recently scientists have made a tremendous achievement in storing hydrogen capacity in solid state materials such as carbon based and metal organic frameworks materials as well as metal hydrides. In this review the author reviewed the status of the hydrogen storage technologies in solid state, the advantages and disadvantages in each category of materials and the future prospects of hydrogen storage.

  • This paper introduce of program package for the numerical analysis of Electromagnetic field analysis using Finite Element Method, called Electro Magnetic Field(EMF). This software tool is developed by Changwon Nat'l Univ. cooperative with Hanyang Univ. and produced on a commercial scale. EMF has a simple, easy to use graphical interface which steps user through th problem setup, high accurate solution, and fast computation.

Modelling the dynamic response and failure modes of reinforced concrete structures subjected to blast and impact loading

  • Responding to the threat of terrorist attacks around the world, numerous studies have been conducted to search for new methods of vulnerability assessment and protective technologies for critical infrastructure under extreme bomb blasts or high velocity impacts. In this paper, a two-dimensional behavioral rate dependent lattice model (RDLM) capable of analyzing reinforced concrete members subjected to blast and impact loading is presented. The model inherently takes into account several major influencing factors: the progressive cracking of concrete in tension, the inelastic response in compression, the yielding of reinforcing steel, and strain rate sensitivity of both concrete and steel. A computer code using the explicit algorithm was developed based on the proposed lattice model. The explicit code along with the proposed numerical model was validated using experimental test results from the Woomera blast trial.

  • Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI) have been developing Korean Tilting Train eXpress(TTX) with the service speed of 180km/h as the R&D project supporting by Korea government. The core of research is the development of the tilting bogie using the domestic tilting technologies. We developed the 3D-CAD prototype of tiling bogie model. In this paper we attempted to evaluate the structural strength of bogie frame using the Finite Element Method. Finally, we . would like to propose the application of the modifying part to the detail design.

Classifying Biomedical Literature Providing Protein Function Evidence

  • Because protein is a primary element responsible for biological or biochemical roles in living bodies, protein function is the core and basis information for biomedical studies. However, recent advances in bio technologies have created an explosive increase in the amount of published literature; therefore, biomedical researchers have a hard time finding needed protein function information. In this paper, a classification system for biomedical literature providing protein function evidence is proposed. Note that, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find previous studies on the proposed issue. To classify papers based on protein function evidence, we should consider whether the main claim of a paper is to assert a protein function. We, therefore, propose two novel features - protein and assertion. Our experimental results show a classification performance with 71.89% precision, 90.0% recall, and a 79.94% F-measure. In addition, to verify the usefulness of the proposed classification system, two case study applications are investigated - information retrieval for protein function and automatic summarization for protein function text. It is shown that the proposed classification system can be successfully applied to these applications.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the diversification of the methodology of KM (knowledge management) Benchmarking which has been developed rapidly as a new managing paradigm all over the world for the 21th century. In particular, at the point of that it has been going to be inevitable for domestic companies to adopt and utilize a knowledge management system as the pending assignment for surviving in the 21th century, this study thus can enable them to support an adoption of KM and suggest directions for companies. Therefore, the successful cases of KM adoption all through the world have been analyzed by this study with the classifications of the industrial fields, work-flows from the view point of learning organizations and information technologies. As a result, the KM type bearing the specific of the respective industry has not been unrolled, and the common element in the analysis of work-flows has been found. Based on the result, it is desirable for the companies to adapt KM, extracting necessary work field for KM. Consequently speaking, they need to benchmark and adopt the KM methodology based on the extracted results.

  • Thermal management technology is a critical element in all new chip generations, caused by a power multiplication combined with a size reduction. A heat sink, mounted on a base plate, requires the use of special materials possessing both high thermal conductivity (TC) and a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) that matches semiconductor materials as well as certain packaging ceramics. In this study, nano tungsten coated copper powder has been developed with a wide range of compositions, 90W-10Cu to 10W-90Cu. Powder technologies were used to make samples to evaluate density, TC, and CTE. Measured TC lies among theoretical values predicted by several existing models.
