  • Many data mining techniques have been proved useful in revealing important patterns from large data sets. Especially, data mining techniques play an important role in a customer data analysis in a financial industry and an electronic commerce. Also, there are many data mining related research papers in a semiconductor industry and an automotive industry. In addition, data mining techniques are applied to the bioinformatics area. To satisfy customers' various requirements, each industry should develop new processes with more accurate production criteria. Also, they spend more money to guarantee their products' quality. In this manner, we apply data mining techniques to the production-related data such as a test data, a field claim data, and POP (point of production) data in the automotive parts industry. Data collection and transformation techniques should be applied to enhance the analysis results. Also, we classify various types of manufacturing processes and proposed an analysis scheme according to the type of manufacturing process. As a result, we could find inter- or intra-process relationships and critical features to monitor the current status of the each process. Finally, it helps an industry to raise their profit and reduce their failure cost.

For data collection, 665 questionnaires were distributed to medical record administrators and insurance reviewers at 31 hospitals, and 580 questionnaires were collected(collection rate: 87.2%). Regarding methodology, Critical Success Factor(CSF) and index of the information system were derived based on previous studies, and these were set as performance measurement factors of EMR system. The performance measurement factors were constructed by perspective using BSC, and analysis on causal relationship between factors was conducted. A model of causal relationship was established, and performance measurement model of EMR system was proposed through model validation. Analysis on causal relationship between performance management factors revealed that utility cognition of the learning & growth perspective factor had causal relationship with job efficiency(${\beta}=0.20$) and decision support(${\beta}=0.66$) of the internal process perspective factors, and security had causal relationship with system satisfaction(${\beta}=0.31$) of the customer perspective factor. System quality had causal relationship with job efficiency(${\beta}=0.66$) and decision support(${\beta}=0.76$) of the internal process perspective factors, all of which were statistically significant(P<0.01). Job efficiency of the internal process perspective had causal relationship with system satisfaction(${\beta}=0.43$), and decision support had causal relationship with decision support satisfaction(${\beta}=0.91$) and job satisfaction (${\beta}=0.74$), all of which were statistically significant(P<0.01). System satisfaction of the customer perspective had causal relationship with job satisfaction(${\beta}=0.12$), job satisfaction had causal relationship with cost reduction(${\beta}=0.53$) of the financial perspective, and decision support satisfaction had causal relationship with productivity improvement(${\beta}=0.40$)of the financial perspective(P<0.01). Also, cost reduction of the financial perspective had causal relationship with productivity improvement(${\beta}=0.37$), all which were statistically significant(P<0.05). Suitability index verification of the performance measurement model whose causal relationship was found to be statistically significant revealed that $X^2/df=2.875$, RMR=0.036, GFI=0.831, AGFI=0.810, CFI=0.887, NFI=0.838, IFI=0.888, RMSEA=0.057, PNFI=0.781, and PCFI=0.827, all of which were in suitable levels. In conclusion, the performance measurement indices of EMR system include utility cognition, security, and system quality of the learning & growth perspective, decision support and job efficiency of the internal process perspective, system satisfaction, decision support satisfaction, and job satisfaction of the customer perspective, and productivity improvement and cost reduction of the financial perspective. In this study, it is expected that the performance measurement indices and model of EMR system which are suggested by the author, will be a measurement tool available for system performance measurement of EMR system in medical institutions.

  • This study investigated the use of e-journals by health researchers in the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR). A descriptive survey method was adopted for the study and a questionnaire was used for data collection. The study population was comprised of fifty-four (54) respondents who are health researchers in the institute. The data collected were presented and analyzed using tables, frequency distribution, simple percentages, and charts. The result of the study revealed that all the respondents are aware of the availability of e-journals and attest to making use of them. The study revealed that electronic journals were mostly used for the purpose of conducting research work and the PDF format was preferred for downloading e-journals. However, it was observed that low Internet connectivity and intermittent electricity supply constitute a major obstacle to the use of e-journals. The study, therefore, recommended that the institute's management invest more resources on network connectivity, particularly its bandwidth, and ensure reliable power supply.

  • Electronic commerce, the act of trading online, with its myriad of potential has been seldom looked at within the context of developing countries. E-commerce presents SMEs in developing economies the opportunity to adequately compete on a global stage. The exponential growth of e-commerce in developed economies further widens the financial gap between developed and developing economies. This study looks at a practical e-commerce adoption framework for Ghanaian SMEs and by extension, developing economies and looks at the net benefits that are available to current adopters. The study uses structural equation modeling, using Partial least squares (PLS) regression to analyze the data in the research. Using PLS algorithms as well as bootstrapping calculations. It combines the use of surveys (154) and interviews (38) as means of data collection. The findings of the research indicate that there is a need for legislation on e-commerce trading to regulate the trade in Ghana, with policies such as e-contracting and e-signature laws among others. Also, a current call for an expansion of the mobile payment methods within the country. For the private investor, a ripe market for logistics services. The study also proposes a simple guideline for SMEs looking to adopt or expand their e-commerce usage, that considers technological, organizational and environmental factors that come to play within e-commerce adoption.

  • The study seeks to identify the determinants of the adoption of e-commerce by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries, in our case, in Indonesia. The aim of this study is to examine the factors influencing e-commerce adoption. This study uses the method of quantitative data collection based on a questionnaire survey of SMEs in Indonesia. The research relies on Regional Project stipulations regarding Business Development in Indonesia, to capture businesses with a range of 5 to 100 employees that are classified as SMEs. This study randomly chose 100 SMEs in Indonesia from the IndoNetwork database. Partial least square (PLS) structural model data processing was used for path coefficients analysis. Structural equation modeling is applied in this study to analyze the determinant factors on the e-commerce adoption. The study findings reveal that four factors, namely, perceived benefits, compatibility, technology readiness, and government support, significantly influence the adoption of e-commerce, whereas customer/supplier pressure does not have influence. So, this study concludes that perceived benefits, compatibility, technology readiness, and government support had a significant and positive relationship with e-commerce adoption. Meanwhile, customer/supplier pressure had no effect on the e-commerce adoption of by Indonesia SMEs.
