  • When continuous and discontinuous microstrip is analyzed with FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain) method, we used Berenger's 3D-PML as absorbing boundary condition, and IST(Inner Source Technique) was used for source excitation instead of front excitation that is existing method. In the case using IST, we have observed that analyzed characteristic is not affected by the reduced computational domain of the side and top face in which evanescent field and radiation field is exist. Also, if we control the position of the inner source, we could effectively reject the influence of the reflective wave by mean of imperfective boundary condition. In this paper, by using IST, we have calculated dispersive characteristic and characteristic impedance of the microstrip. And we have calculated magnitude and phase of the scattering coefficient, and obtained equivalent circuit of the open microstrip end.

  • The RCS characteristics of stealth modified three-surface aircraft are analyzed in this paper. Prototype A is built with CATIA software and the three-dimensional digital models of modified stealth three-surface B and C are also designed based on carrier-based aircraft Su-33; the numerical simulation of RCS characteristics of three-surface aircraft is conducted with RCSAnsys software based on physical optics method and the method of equivalent currents; The following results are obtained by comparative analysis and mathematical statistics: (1) by the use of physical optics method and equivalent electromagnetic current method, the scattering intensity for each part of the model and RCS characteristic of the aircraft can be analyzed efficiently and accurately; (2) compared with model A, the mean RCS value of model B is reduced to 14.1% in forward direction and 48.1% in lateral direction; (3) compared with model A, the mean RCS value of model C decreases to 11.4% in forward direction and 21.6% in lateral direction. The results are expected to provide theoretical basis and technical support to the conceptual design of aircraft and stealth technology research.

  • A numerical method for scattering of electromagnetic waves from a periodic strip grating over a grounded dielectric slab is considered for TE and TM polarization cases from the viewpoints of both reflection grating problem and leaky wave antenna problem. The analysis is based on a mode expansion method, floquet's theorem, and the method of moments. Numerical results involving some combinations of geometric parameters are presented in terms of complex propagation constant (kd-$\beta$d diagram), radiation pattern, and relative scattered powers of spectral modes. In particular, the relationship between complex propagatio constnat form the viewpoint of leaky wqve antenna problem and Off-bragg and bragg blazing phenomena from the viewpoint of reflecton graing problem is investigated.

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis types of light and to find the characteristics of light in contemporary fashion design. In a scientific context, light is electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength that has the characteristics of straightness, reflection, refraction, scattering and diffraction. But in philosophical speculations, light has been used as a metaphor of 'being', 'to-be' or 'enlightenment.' And through the ages, people have tried to represent and apply the light into plastic art like painting and architecture. The types of light in fashion design was categorized as those; reflective light from the surface of clothing which is the result of interaction between illumination and material, representative light as the pattern of light or light effect such as sun or its rays and optical or psychedelic patterns, luminescent light from light emitting material like phosphorescence or LED which combines into fashion design, projective light from a medium to reveal virtual patterns on the surface or a fashion design itself using holography. These lights in fashion design can be considered as reflection of emphasis of sexuality, longing for fantasy and mystique, visualization of interaction and communication and groping for the play.

  • Based on the recently developed deep learning technology, many studies have been conducted on deep learning networks that simultaneously detect and classify targets of interest in synthetic aperture radar(SAR) images. Although numerous research results have been derived mainly with the open SAR ship datasets, there is a lack of work carried out on the deep learning network aimed at detecting and classifying SAR ground targets and trained with the synthetic dataset generated from electromagnetic scattering simulations. In this respect, this paper presents the deep learning network trained with the synthetic dataset and applies it to detecting and classifying real SAR ground targets. With experiment results, this paper also analyzes the network performance according to the composition ratio between the real measured data and the synthetic data involved in network training. Finally, the summary and limitations are discussed to give information on the future research direction.

  • In this paper, we surveyed previous cases, network protocols (such as Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-wave, and WirelessHart) and propagation characteristics on the application of maintaining equipments for instrumentation and control (I&C) using wireless communication techniques inside the nuclear power plant (NPP). In addition, we compared and analyzed the difference of detailed regulations with respect to the electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) in the Regulatory Guide 1.180 rev. 1 (RG. 1.180) for adopting the wireless communication techniques inside the NPP, and other regulations, such as MIL-STD 461E and IEC 61000-4, that are recognized in the KINS/RG-N03.09 (Rev. 2). Furthermore, we investigated evaluating factors about electromagnetic properties by considering indoor environments, wave scattering, shielding effectiveness, and the indoor wave attenuation model that were not included in the current electromagnetic compatibility regulation.

  • We have developed an inversion algorithm for loop-loop electromagnetic (EM) data, based on the localised non-linear or extended Born approximation to the solution of the 2.5D integral equation describing an EM scattering problem. Source and receiver configuration may be horizontal co-planar (HCP) or vertical co-planar (VCP). Both multi-frequency and multi-separation data can be incorporated. Our inversion code runs on a PC platform without heavy computational load. For the sake of stable and high-resolution performance of the inversion, we implemented an algorithm determining an optimum spatially varying Lagrangian multiplier as a function of sensitivity distribution, through parameter resolution matrix and Backus-Gilbert spread function analysis. Considering that the different source-receiver orientation characteristics cause inconsistent sensitivities to the resistivity structure in simultaneous inversion of HCP and VCP data, which affects the stability and resolution of the inversion result, we adapted a weighting scheme based on the variances of misfits between the measured and calculated datasets. The accuracy of the modelling code that we have developed has been proven over the frequency, conductivity, and geometric ranges typically used in a loop-loop EM system through comparison with 2.5D finite-element modelling results. We first applied the inversion to synthetic data, from a model with resistive as well as conductive inhomogeneities embedded in a homogeneous half-space, to validate its performance. Applying the inversion to field data and comparing the result with that of dc resistivity data, we conclude that the newly developed algorithm provides a reasonable image of the subsurface.

  • Bistatric radar can perform detection and identification for stealth targets that are rarely detected by the conventional monostatic radar. However, high resolution range profile(HRRP) generated from the received signal in the bistatic radar cannot show exact range information of the target because the bistatic geometry lead to the distortions of the bistatic HRRP. In addition, electromagnetic scattering mechanisms of the target are varied depending on the bistatic geometry. Thus, efficient database construction is a crucial factor to achieve successful classification capability in bistatic target identification. In this paper, a database construction method based on realistic flight scenarios of a target, which provides a reliable identification performance for the monostatic radar, is applied to bistatic target identification. Then, the capability and efficiency of the method is analyzed. Simulation results show that reliable identification performance can be achieved using the database construction based on the flight scenarios when the target is a considerable distance away from the bistatic radar.
