  • In this study, combined micro press and surface finishing process are proposed to fabricate the micro nozzle array on a stainless steel sheet metal. In micro hole punching process the burr occurs inevitably, but the burr must be minimized in order to improve the quality and accuracy of the product. For this reason, subsequent magnetic field-assisted finishing technique is applied to remove the burr which exists around the nozzles for ink-jet printer head and proved to be a feasible for deburring by experiment. The deburring characteristics of sheet metals were investigated changing with polishing time and magnetic abrasive size. After the deburring, the burr size has remarkably reduced and roundness of the hole also has improved.

TEM 법에 의한 철근 부식 측정 센서 개발에 대한 기초 연구 (The Elementary Study on the Development of a Sensor for Measurement of Steel Corrosion by Transient Electro-Magnetic (TEM) Method)

  • In order to measure steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic (TEM) Method, the development of the sensors have been studied. The sensors were made of enamelled wire with diameter of 0.25mm and Acril. The sensor configuration was used as a coincident loop type. The secondary electro motive force(EMF) was measured with SIROTEM III. The accelerator was equipped with the SIROTEM III. The accelerator permits the transmitter to turn off approximately 10~15 times faster than normal. The high resolution time series used for very shallow or high resistivity investigation was selected. The steels were embedded in mortar which were made from sand : cement : water ratio of 2 : 1: 0.5. The mortar specimen was 50cm long, 20cm wide and 10cm thick. To investigate steel corrosion in mortar, the sensors used were with 2$\times$2$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$), 3$\times$3$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$) and 6$\times$6$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$). The obtained result obtained showed that the sensor 8(6$\times$6$cm^2$, 6$\Omega$) was the proper sensor for the measurement of steel corrosion in mortar.

An exact solution for buckling analysis of embedded piezo-electro-magnetically actuated nanoscale beams

  • This paper investigates the buckling behavior of shear deformable piezoelectric (FGP) nanoscale beams made of functionally graded (FG) materials embedded in Winkler-Pasternak elastic medium and subjected to an electro-magnetic field. Magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) properties of piezoelectric nanobeam are supposed to be graded continuously in the thickness direction based on power-law model. To consider the small size effects, Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is adopted. Employing Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal governing equations of the embedded piezoelectric nanobeams are obtained. A Navier-type analytical solution is applied to anticipate the accurate buckling response of the FGP nanobeams subjected to electro-magnetic fields. To demonstrate the influences of various parameters such as, magnetic potential, external electric voltage, power-law index, nonlocal parameter, elastic foundation and slenderness ratio on the critical buckling loads of the size-dependent MEE-FG nanobeams, several numerical results are provided. Due to the shortage of same results in the literature, it is expected that the results of the present study will be instrumental for design of size-dependent MEE-FG nanobeams.

M-Zn (M = Sb, V, and Nb) Substituted Strontium Hexaferrites with Enhanced Saturation Magnetization for Permanent Magnet Applications

  • M-Zn (M = Sb, V, Nb) substituted M-type strontium hexaferrites were prepared by a ceramic method. The phase composition, morphology and magnetic properties were studied by x-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. Saturation magnetization increases with a substitution up to 75.0 emu/g (2.5 % higher compared to unsubstituted hexaferrite) and then decreases with a further substitution. A coercive field of substituted hexaferrite powders with highest saturation magnetization is more than 3 kOe. Substituted strontium hexaferrite powders prepared in this work are a rare example of high $M_S$ compositions without doping rare-earth elements and would be a promising candidate for a permanent magnet application.

과도전자탐사법에 의한 모르타르 중의 코팅 철근의 부식 측정 방법 개발 (The Development of Measuring Method of Coated Steel Corrosion in Mortar by Transient Electro-Magnetic(TEM) Method)

  • To study measurement of coated steel corrosion in mortar, a transient electro-magnetic(TEM) method was adapted. The sensors were made of enamelled wire with diameter of 0.25mm(transmitter), 0.1mm(receiver) and the secondary electro motive force(EMF) was measured with SIROTEMIII. The sensors configuration was used as in loop configuration. After coated steels were corroded by the salt spray during 3, 7, 15, 25days, they were embedded in mortar which were made from sand : cement : water ratio of 2 : 1 :0.5. To investigate coated steel corrosion in mortar, the sensors were used. ( sensorl - $T_x$ : $4{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $3{times}3cm$, sensor2 - $T_x$ : $8{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $3{times}3cm$, sensor3 - $T_x$ : $4{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $6{times}6cm$, sensor4 - $T_x$ : $8{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $6{times}6cm$). The obtained results showed that the secondary EMF was decreased with specimens of 3, 7days corroded coationg steel in mortar and then increased with specccimens of 15, 25days corroded one. And it was confirmed that measurement of coated steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic(TEM) method is possible.

  • The Pt counter electrode of a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) plays a role in helping redox reaction of iodine ions in electrolyte, also, transferring electrons into electrolyte. In this case, it is expected that characteristics of Pt electrodes strongly depend on fabrication process and its surface condition. In this study, Pt electrodes were prepared by a electro-deposition and a RF magnetron sputtering. Electrochemical behavior of Pt electrodes was compared using cyclic-voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy. Surface morphology of Pt electrodes was investigated by FE-SEM and AFM. I-V characteristics of DSSC were measured and discussed in association with the surface properties of counter electrode. As a result, electrochemical properties of electro-deposited Pt electrode were superior to that of sputtered Pt electrode. This is likely that enlarged area of surface in electro-deposited Pt electrode in comparison with the case of sputtered Pt electrode playa role in enhancing such electrochemical properties.

  • An inductive coupler, which feeds communication to the electric power transmission line, is required to establish Power Line Communication(PLC). The electro-magnetic property of magnetic core and design technology for coupler are very important to manufacture an inductive coupler for power transmission line. The magnetic core with superior electro-magnetic property was manufactured by using nano-crystalline alloy and an inductive coupler, which can operate at the maximum 2,000 A current, was designed and manufactured by establishment of current saturation, signal out winding, and electro-magnetic simulation in this study. Communication speed of 14 Mbps in 600 m communication distance of the real electric power transmission line was obtained by using the inductive coupler and application possibility of the inductive coupler for the electric power transmission line was certified.

  • Objectives : This study was performed to observe the effect of complex therapy, including electro-acupuncture and magnetic-acupuncture, on peripheral facial nerve palsy. Methods : Nine patients with peripheral facial nerve palsy were treated with acupuncture using electrical and magnetic stimulation. Acupoints in the face were stimulated with an electromagnetic field, as widely and as evenly as possible. To evaluate the effects before and after treatment we used Yanagihara's unweighted grading system, House-Brackmann scale, and Sunnybrook facial grading system and image once a week. Results : After treatment, the scores of Yanagihara's unweighted grading system, House-Brackmann scale and Sunnybrook facial grading system each improved (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion : Complex therapy using electro-acupuncture and magnetic-acupuncture might be an effective treatment to improve symptoms of peripheral facial nerve palsy. Further randomized-controlled trials are required to verify the efficacy and results of this study.

  • This paper presents the design and the control of three degree-of-freedom(DOF) fine positioning device based on an electro-magnetic force. The device is designed by use of a magnetic circuit theory and it is capable of fine motion due to the electro-magnetic force. The device consists of permanent magnets, yokes and coils. The magnetic fluxes generated from the permanent magnets constitute magnetic paths through steel, whereas the coils are arranged into the gap between two surfaces of the yokes. Therefore, by supplying current to the coils, the coils are capable of some motions due to Lorentz forces. For the optimal design of the actuating system, the system parameters are defined and investigated under the given constraints. From the system modeling in small displacement, three decoupled equations of motion are obtained. To get better performance of the system, a PID controller is implemented. Experimental results are presented in terms of time response and accuracy.

  • The Electro Magnetic (EM) Acceleration and Deceleration (ACC/DCC) system of the Ferromagnetic Ball(FB) is the linear motor's final structural development which can be used for devices that conserve energy, gaming or rail gun. By accelerating the FB within the coil structure, it is difficult to utilize the FB's magnetizing feature via the ACC/DCC system. There is much monopole space inside the monopole coil. By using this particular feature of the FB, starting coil and Monopole Coil Structure (MCS) can be structurally separated and another simple electric related control system can be experimented for further development. For the purpose of development a review is needed of the control system of both basic stepper motor and BLDC motor.
