  • In this paper, we have developed an electro discharge machine for micro drilling driven by a voice coil actuator. Because the voltage signal of the electro-discharging circuit shows a lot of peaks and valleys, the active type low-pass filtering technique is adopted to get the average of the signal. Since the motion of the voice coil is precisely controlled by the error value between the object voltage value and the measured one, it is possible to prevent the mechanical contact between the rotating electrode and the workpiece and to maintain the appropriate machining conditions during the process. The electro-chemical machining technology was also adopted to make small diameter electrodes. Pure water is used as a dielectric. The machining procedure is performed to verify the feasibility of the developed system. It takes about 10 seconds to drill the ${\phi}m$100${\mu}m$ hole to the 100${\mu}m$ thickness stainless steel plate. The machining time depends on the values of the resister and the capacitor. There may exist the optimal values of time constant and the tendency is displayed In the appendix.

  • A facile soft chemical synthesis route is used to grow nano-buds of copper hydroxide [$Cu(OH)_2$] thin films on stainless steel substrate[SS]. Besides different chemical methods for synthesis of $Cu(OH)_2$ nanostructure, the chemical bath deposition (CBD) is attractive for its simplicity and environment friendly condition. The structural, morphological, and electro-chemical properties of $Cu(OH)_2$ thin films are studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) measurement techniques. The results showed that, facile chemical synthesis route allows to form the polycrystalline, granular nano-buds of $Cu(OH)_2$ thin films. The electrochemical properties of $Cu(OH)_2$ thin films are studied in an aqueous 1 M KOH electrolyte using cyclic voltammetry. The sample exhibited supercapacitive behavior with $340Fg^{-1}$ specific capacitance. Moreover, electrochemical capacitive measurements of $Cu(OH)_2/SS$ electrode exhibit a high specific energy and power density about ${\sim}83Wh\;kg^{-1}$ and ${\sim}3.1kW\;kg^{-1}$, respectively, at $1mA\;cm^{-2}$ current density. The superior electrochemical properties of copper hydroxide ($Cu(OH)_2/SS$) electrode with nano-buds like structure mutually improves pseudocapacitive performance. This work evokes scalable chemical synthesis with the enhanced supercapacitive performance of $Cu(OH)_2/SS$ electrode in energy storage devices.

  • Next future, The bio technology will be a rapidly developing. This paper is the scattering beam measurement of the red blood cell (RBC) and the fabrication of the micro cell biochip using the bio micro electro mechanical system (Bio-MEMS) process technology. The Major process method of Bio-MEMS technology was used the buffered oxide etchant (BOE), electro chemical discharge (ECD) and ultraviolet sensitive adhesives (UVSA). All experiments were the 10 times according to the process conditions. The experiment and research are required the ultraviolet expose, the micro fluid current, the cell control and the measurement of the output voltage Vpp (peak to peak) waveform by scattering angles. The transmitting and receiving of the laser beam was used the single mode optical fiber. The principles of the optical properties are as follows. The red blood cells were injected into the micro channel. The single mode optical fiber was inserting in the guide channel. The He-Ne laser beam was focusing in the single mode optical fiber. The transmission He-Ne laser beam is irradiating to the red blood cells. The manufactured guide channel consists of the four inputs and the four outputs. The red blood cell was allowed with the cylinder pump. The output voltage Vpp waveform of the scattering beam was measured with a photo detector. The receiving angle of the output optical fiber is $0^{\circ}$, $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$. The magnitude of the output voltage Vpp waveform was measured in the decrease according to increase of the reception angles. The difference of the output voltage Vpp waveform is due differences of the light transmittance of the red blood cells.

  • Sensor system which can detect a flowing cell is designed and fabricated by semiconductor processing and EDM(Electro-chemical Discharge drilling Method). Two methods are used in this paper; 1) optical method which measures the trasmitted light through the cell passage between transmitter and receiver, 2) impedance method which measures impedance change between electrodes, when cell flows in the cell passage. Experimental result using tabaco leaves shows that the ouput value by optical method is 0.2V to 0.7V, and the output by impedance method is 0.2V to 2V, which is bigger, but it includes an avoidable noises.

  • Micro-hole drilling by EDM and production of fine rods for the tool electrode or other purpose have become very important in industry. This paper suggests a new method for production of very fine rods by ultrasonic-assisted chemical machining and describes the machining characteristics of micro-hole drilling by EDM. For fine rods, copper wires of initial diameter of 250.mum are used and successfully machined into a diameter of less than 30.mum with good repeatability. The ultrasonic agitation not only accelerated the material removal rate uniformly, but also produced smooth surfaces of fine rods. To drill the micro-hole, kerosene and pure water is used as a dielectric. From the experiment, water is superior to kerosene with respect to surface roughness of inlet and outlet of hole and machined surface as well as electrode wear. However, due to the electrochemical reaction of water, small pits are remained on the workpiece surface.

  • To study the relationship between spark ignition and the gap in the nano-scale region, the electric potential was applied to between a Pt-Ir tip and a gold substrate. The tip was sharpened by electro-chemical etching process in the solution of $CaCl_2;H_2O$ and acetone. The radius of tip was measured to be around 200nm and attached to the scanning probe microscope to control the gap between the tip and the substrate. The electric potential of 10V to 80V was applied to initialize the spark. The gaps and the current profile were measured to analyze the characteristics of spark ignition. A spark sustaining time was measured to be between 50ns and 200ns depending on the applied electric potential and the gap between the electrodes. The continuous electric discharge was successfully sustained up to 1 second of spark or arc time. The developed process can be applicable to the micro-scale fabrication of automotive sensors as a similar concept of GTAW.

  • Heat generation and temperature of a battery is usually presented by an equation of current. This means that we need to adopt time domain calculation to obtain thermal characteristics of the battery. To avoid the complicated calculations using time domain, 'state of charge (SOC)' can be used as an independent variable. A SOC based calculation method is elucidated through the comparison between the calculated results and experimental results together. Experiments are carried for rapid resistive discharge of a large-capacitive lithium secondary battery to evaluate variations of cell potential, current and temperature. Calculations are performed based on open-circuit cell potential (SOC,T), internal resistance (SOC,T) and entropy (SOC) with specific heat capacity.

  • Up to now, Plasma applications are thought as a leading technology in industrial, chemical and even medical and biological field. Especially, Due to direct discharge in liquid with reaction in ambient solution, plasma in liquid is useful plasma technology. Such as electro-surgery, water purification, radical generation for synthesis. For using those plasma applications efficiently, plasma characteristics should be understood in advance. But discharge in liquid is not much well-known about its characteristics. And plasma discharge in solution is difficult to generate and analysis due to electrolysis, vaporization and radical generation. So, We make stable plasma discharge in solution(saline 0.9%) without input gas. We also analyze new type of plasma source in thermal and electrochemical view. And we check characteristics of plasma in liquid. For example, plasma density and radical density(OH) with optical emission, thermal energy with thermometer, electrical energy with oscilloscope and so on. And we try to explain the bubble and plasma formation with circuit analysis.
