  • Vanadium pentoxide ($V_2O_5$) powder was prepared and mixed with Molybdenum Oxides ($MoM_3$) to form Mo-doped and -undoped $VO_2$ films by a sol-gel method on graphite conductive substrates. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to investigate the chemical compositions and microstructures of the Mo-doped and -undoped $VO_2$ films. The variation of electrical resistance was measured as a function of temperature and stoichiometric composition between vanadium and molybdenum. In this study, it was found that Mo-doped and -undoped $VO_2$ shows the typical negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behavior. As the amount of the molybdenum increases, the electrical resistance of Modoped $VO_2$ film gets reduced under the transition temperature and a linear decrease in the transition temperature is observed. From these experimental results, we can conclude that the electrical resistance behavior with temperature change of $VO_2$ films can be utilized as a self-heating source with the electrical current flowing through the graphite substrate.

  • The changes of the electrical conductivity in chalcogenide amorphous semiconductors, $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$, have been studied. A phase change random access memory (PRAM) device without an access transistor is successfully fabricated with the $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$-phase-change resistor, which has much higher electrical resistivity than $Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}$ and its electric resistivity can be varied by the factor of $10^5$ times, relating with the degree of crystallization. 100 nm thick $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ thin film was formed by vacuum deposition at $1.5{\times}10^{-5}$ Torr. The static mode switching (DC test) is tested for the $100\;{\mu}m-sized$ $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ PRAM device. In the first sweep, the amorphous $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ thin film showed a high resistance state at low voltage region. However, when it reached to the threshold voltage, $V_{th}$, the electrical resistance of device was drastically reduced through the formation of an electrically conducting path. The pulsed mode switching of the $20{\mu}m-sized$ $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ PRAM device showed that the reset of device was done with a 80 ns-8.6 V pulse and the set of device was done with a 200 ns-4.3 V pulse.

  • In case contact between point of contacts is not achieved well, contact resistance is grown, and by current concentration at current conducting contacts can weld. In order to decrease contact resistance between contacts in case of busbar, installing spring between fixed contact and moving contact. and then force on faying surface of contacts increase and contact resistance decrease. But, in case increase force of spring to widen contact area, operating force moving contact can grow, on the contrary force of spring is small, contact resistance becomes low. Therefore, need to optimize force and number of spring. position, and also need to examine force change on contact surface at point of contact moving. In this paper, dynamic kinetics analysis for force on faying surface of contacts is performed at unsteady state. It is showed to not uniform force on surface between contacts, and we can got more uniform force by means of change spring position.

  • The present work aims to develop piezoresistive sensors of excellent piezoresistive response attributable to change in nanoscale structures of multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNT) embedded in cement. MWNT was distributed in a cement matrix by means of polymer wrapping method in tandem with the ultrasonication process. DC conductivity of the prepared samples exhibited the electrical percolation behavior and therefore the dispersion method adopted in this study was deemed effective. The integrity of piezoresistive response of the sensors was assessed in terms of stability, the maximum electrical resistance change rate, and sensitivity. A composite sensor with MWNT 0.2 wt.% showed the lowest stability and sensitivity, while the maximum electrical resistance change rate exhibited by this sample was the highest (96 %) among others and even higher than those found in the literature. This observation was presumably attributed by the percolation threshold and the tunneling effect. As a result of the MWNT content (0.2 wt.%) of the sensor being near the percolation threshold (0.25 wt.%), MWNTs were close to each other to trigger tunneling in response of external loading. The sensor with MWNT 0.2 wt.% was able to maintain the repeatable sensing capability while sustaining a vehicular loading on road, demonstrating the feasibility in traffic flow sensing application.

  • The electrical characteristics for applying the foundation of the house to the substitutional earth electrode was reviewed fundamentally. In order to measure the earth resistance in the foundation of the house, it was performed to investigate the effect of the electrode arrangements and configurations concerning to grounding methods, and tried to the adequate simulation for comparing those experimental data. The number of steel rods and the ground resistivity were affected to change the earth resistance, but the latter caused the large variation in its resistance compared to the former in this experiment. Since the large surface area in the foundation of the house have contacted the ground usually, it is possible to use the earth electrode substitutionally.

  • A magnetic field sensor is fabricated with superconducting ceramics of Y-Ba-Cu-O system. The prepared material shows the superconductivity at about 95K. The sensor at liquid nitrogen temperature shows the increase in electrical resistance by applying magnetic field. Actually, the voltage drop across the sensor is changed from zero to a value more than 100$\mu$V by the applied magnetic field. The change in electrical resistance depends on magnetic field. The sensitivity of this sensor is 2.9 ohm/T. The sensing limit is about $1.5\times$$10^{-5}$ (=1.5$\times$$10^{-1}$ G). The increase in electrical resistance by the magnetic field is ascribed to a modification of the Josephson junctions due to the penetrating magnetic flux into the superconducting material.

  • The magnetic field sensor was fabricated with superconducting ceramics of YBaCuO system. The sensor at liquid nitrogen temperature showed the increase of electrical resistance by applying magnetic field. Actually the voltage drop across the sensor was changed from zero to a value more than 100 $mutextrm{V}$ by the applied magnetic field. The change in electrical resistance depended on magnetic field. The sensitivity of this sensor was 2.9 $\Omega$/T. The sensing limit was about $1.5\times$10$^{-5}$. The increase of electrical resistance by the magnetic field was ascribed to a modification of the Josephson junctions due to the penetrating magnetic flux into the superconducting material. Considering the observed properties of the superconductor with trapped magnetic flux, a magnetic sensor was fabricated to detect simultaneously both the intensity and the direction of the magnetic field.
