  • Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) in single-phase to interface distributed renewable energy resources is investigated in this paper. Mathematical models and numerical analysis are utilized to illustrate the features of the VSG. Enhanced control strategy is presented to ensure the performance of the VSG. Besides, a second order generalized integer (SOGI) is employed to calculate the instantaneous output power of the VSG in virtual ${\alpha}{\beta}$ frame. By the means of a phase-locked loop based scheme, the VSG can seamlessly transform between islanded and grid-tied modes, which can meet the requirements of micro-grid. At last, the validation and the proposed approach are verified by the simulated results using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • Deformations in a cage-induction machine are investigated with simulations. The contribution of the Maxwell stress in the air gap and coil regions of the machine on the deformation is studied by comparing results obtained with and without inclusion of the stress into the calculation. The work attests the acceptability of an energy-based magneto-mechanical model for a 2D mesh of two different rotating electrical machines.

  • In this paper, an optimal solution to the harmonic reduction problem in a cascaded multilevel inverter with non-equal DC sources using a genetic algorithm (GA) is presented. Switching angles are generated for different values of modulation index by the proposed algorithm, considering minimum voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) whereas selected harmonics are controlled within the allowable limits at all desired modulation indices including the point of discontinuity. Results are stored as a look-up table to be used to control the inverter for a certain operating point. The computed angles are used in a simulated circuit in Matlab\Simulink to validate the results.

  • The electrical vehicles (EV) with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capability can be used as loads, energy sources and energy storage in MicroGrid integrated with renewable energy sources. The output power of generators will be reallocated in the considering of V2G. An intelligent unit commitment (UC) with V2G for cost optimization is presented in this paper. A new constraint of UC with V2G is considered to satisfy daily use of EVs. A hybrid optimiza-tion algorithm combined Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (BPSO) with Lagrange Mul-tipliers Method (LMM) is proposed. The difference between results of UC with V2G and UC without V2G is presented.

  • Many people feel uncomfortable when fitness center is crowded with people in all at the same time. So we propose exercise machines reservation system for resolving the problem that people feel uncomfortable in fitness center. In this paper, we design and implement the exercise machines reservation system that allows for users to reserve fitness equipments by using a NFC-based smart band. A user can reserve exercise machine using some reservation device. he or she will receive notifications through the smart band about when and which machine she or he will have to use. The user can do exercise with a recommended program, and can use any equipments conveniently even in a peak time because no one is waiting. Also, a manager can save cost through the efficient facility management and provide customized member management. Additionally, manager don't need to purchase other exercise machines or computers.

  • This paper presents some results of performance evaluation test via actual machines of a new hybrid vector control utilizing a new indirect orientation scheme and stable filter embedded direct orientation scheme for induction motors without speed or position sensor. It is shown through the test by 0.3(kW) and 3.7(kW) motors that the proposed sensorless vector control has the following high potentialities: 1) speed range is 0 to 600(rad/s) or more, 2) zero-speed command is accepted and settles the machines at a stable standstill with no vibration 3) it can make machines to track variable command of acceleration and deceleration $\pm$6,000(rad/s2), 4) it can make machines to drive directly load of at least 26 times larger inertia than that of the machine, 5) it can make machines to produce much larger torque than the rating in torque control mode even at standstill. The performance confirmed by the test is far away for previous schemes or sensorless drive apparatuses.

  • This paper deals with the personal computer based design for the sequential machines. Most part of sequential machine design have been implemented by using general purpose microprocessors in order to obtain the specific unctions required for their system. But, they have some difficulties in design stages. Knowledge of systems design method and high technology are basically applied to all the design stages.. Therefore ready made microcomputer system for personal use, personal computer, can be transformed to sequential machines by using the corresponding softwares and built-in personal computer input/output ports. Following the state transition diagram or table, we can obtain the ROM type of sequential machines directly and need not to design input/output interface except actuators and samplers because of capability of personal computer. Our main purpose of this design method are quick, flexible, reliable, modifiable circuit design of the sequential machines. In this paper, we use APPLE-II plus personal computer as target machine.
