  • The advent of inexpensive high power switching devices revived the interest in switched reluctance motor(hereafter referred to as SRM) drives. In the late 60's, the potential of SRM for traction application attracted researchers. Since then the progress in research of the SRM drive has been phenomenal. In this paper, a review of the basic principle of operation of the SRM, currently available converter topologies, the controller requirements and some design considerations are included.

  • In this paper, a new PWM method and estimating means of rotor position angles for BLDC motor drive are presented. The rotor position angles is predicted by calculated rotor flux from the stator voltage and current signals. The current control PWM using fuzzy logic is also suggested. Performance of the proposed controller is observed through a simulation.

  • Generally machine tools can be divided into three components : NC Controller, the electrical drives and the mechanical transmission elements. For high speed, high precision machining, high performance control of servo system must be accommodated and one must carefully define the interface among three components. In this paper, we suggest a way to assist future development of CNC controller by investigating the characteristics resulting from different interface between CNC controller and servo system.

  • The torque of SRM is developed by phase currents and inductance variation. Phase currents and inductance variation. Phase current is often the controlled variable in electrical motor drives, so it seems natural to use closed loop current controllers. However, the highly nonlinear nature of switched reluctance motors makes optimisation of closed loop current controlled difficult because of saturation effect in magnetic circuit. Therefore, torque generation region is nonlinearly varied according to phase current and rotor position. This paper describes the torque control scheme with neural network that can control varied with load torque. The torque control is simulated by PSIM.

  • This paper describes on the current control characteristics of the voltage type converter. The DC output current of the converter can be controlled by a phase control without feedback loops. The characteristics may be applied effectively to the motor drives.

  • In this paper, a new estimation algorithm for the rotor speed for SRM drives is described. The algorithm is implemented by the sliding mode observer. The stability and robustness of the sliding observer for the parameter variations of the SRM are proved by variable structure control theory. Variable speed control of the SRM is accomplished by the estimated speed. Experiment results verify that the sliding mode observer is able to estimate the speed.

  • This paper introduced an advanced PWM method to drive a variable speed AC motor. With this technique, a switching pattern is determined to minimize the error between a reference signal and feedback signal. In addition to its simplicity of implementation, the proposed technique has the advantage of control led constant voltage per frequency operation.

  • This paper presents the experimental results on the 3-electrode DC-PDP which has a common electrode to improve the PDP life cycle. The measured DC characteristic proves the effectiveness of common electrode absorbing about half of discharge currents. The waveforms for pulse memory operation of3-electrode PDP without crosstalk could also be determined from the I-V characteristics. The pulse memory drives of 8*8 cell array show the frequency response fo memory margin and the luminance efficiency of 3-electrode PDP are quite different from genrally known characteristics of 2-electrode DC-PDP.

  • This paper describes the simulation approaches employed for a vector control system of induction motor drive using SIMNON for windows program. SIMNON program tool can solve differential and difference equations for nonlinear dynamical control system. One powerful feature is its ability of allowing integration of individual program modules after each individual module is programed and tested independently. This particular feature is exploited here for an SVPWM inverter drive by real-time modeling and simulation. The suggested programs are provided a simple and complete simulation for induction motor vector drive system.
