  • In this paper, we propose an LDO that improves the load regulation change due to the current detection structure. The proposed LDO regulator adds the proposed current detection circuit to the output stage. Thereby to improve the load regulation of the delta value coming in on the output has a voltage value of an improved load Regulation characteristics than conventional LDO regulator. Using the proposed current detection structure, it was possible to improve the output change according to the change of the load current by about 60%. The proposed circuit has been simulated and verified characteristics by using a Spectre, Virtuoso simulation of Cadence.

  • Nowadays, the axle counter has been developed to the wide range of the track circuit blocks as well as the wheel detection device. The axle counter, as becoming an important device for the high speed railway, must be guaranteed in accordance with the safety. With considering the safety and the high speed, performance evaluation a wheel detection sensor is described in this paper. To increase the safety, digital proximity sensor instead of analog is employed in the wheel detection sensor. Therefor the wheel detection sensor can minimize noisy signals caused by the harsh railway environments. And, to meet the high speed railway requirements, the performance of the wheel detection sensor is also successfully verified using the speed simulator at the velocity 500Km/h.

  • As commercial drones have been widely used, concerns for collision accidents with people and invading secured properties are emerging. The detection of drone is a challenging problem. The deep learning based object detection techniques for detecting drones have been applied, but limited to the specific cases such as detection of drones from bird and/or background. We have tried not only detection of drones, but classification of different drones with an end-to-end model. YOLOv2 is used as an object detection model. In order to supplement insufficient data by shooting drones, data augmentation from collected images is executed. Also transfer learning from ImageNet for YOLOv2 darknet framework is performed. The experimental results for drone detection with average IoU and recall are compared and analysed.

  • The system-on-board detectable and controllable the electrical fires due to ground fault(GF), arc fault and overload is implemented. The system IC for controlling and preventing the electrical fires is available to this system. The GF detection circuit for detecting the electrical leakage current, the arc fault detection circuit and the overload detection circuit controllable the input voltage for flowing the overload current are designed. The GF detection circuit and the arc fault detection circuit are good operated to the electrical leakage current and the arc signal, respectively. It is confirmed that the overload detection circuit has shown no erratic operation with the noise or the load variation and is only operated at the overload condition.

  • In this paper, we present an electrical arc detection algorithm using the mash-up analysis technique which is the core technology for the autonomous electrical safety management system(AESMS) of the multi-unit dwellings. The mash-up analysis technique analyzes the voltage, load current, zero phase current data simultaneously to judge arc faults. In order to develop the arc fault detection algorithm, the characteristics of series arc and parallel arc were analyzed. Also, we propose the mash-up analysis technique that analyzes waveforms of voltage, load current, and zero phase current at the same time. The arc fault detection algorithm was developed using the mash-up analysis technique. The developed algorithm can prevent electrical disasters in an effective way through accident prediction, and it will be used as a basic technology to introduce an autonomous electrical safety management system.

  • The diffusion-based salient object detection methods have shown excellent detection results and more efficient computation in recent years. However, the current diffusion-based salient object detection methods still have disadvantage of detecting the object appearing at the image boundaries and different scales. To address the above mentioned issues, this paper proposes a multi-scale diffusion-based salient object detection algorithm with background and objectness seeds. In specific, the image is firstly over-segmented at several scales. Secondly, the background and objectness saliency of each superpixel is then calculated and fused in each scale. Thirdly, manifold ranking method is chosen to propagate the Bayessian fusion of background and objectness saliency to the whole image. Finally, the pixel-level saliency map is constructed by weighted summation of saliency values under different scales. We evaluate our salient object detection algorithm with other 24 state-of-the-art methods on four public benchmark datasets, i.e., ASD, SED1, SED2 and SOD. The results show that the proposed method performs favorably against 24 state-of-the-art salient object detection approaches in term of popular measures of PR curve and F-measure. And the visual comparison results also show that our method highlights the salient objects more effectively.

  • There are various large shocks in optical disc drive system like human touch and speak sound. In this paper, a nonlinear controller and a detection method are proposed. First, a relay nonlinear controller with dead zone is introduced. The structure of this nonlinear controller is simple and has a small amount of calculation. However, this controller has chattering problem when it is working. We suggest a disturbance detection algorithm using Kalman filter in this paper and it shows effective reduction of chattering. The proposed nonlinear controller using this detection algorithm had good performance for the shock.

  • This paper presents new coherent and non-coherent detection methods for the IEEE 802.15.4a low-rate ultra-wideband physical layer with forward error correction (FEC) coding techniques. The coherent detection method involving channel estimation is based on the correlation characteristics of the preamble signal. A coherent receiver uses novel iterated selective-rake (IT-SRAKE) to detect 2-bit data in a non-line-of-sight channel. The non-coherent detection method that does not involve channel estimation employs a 2-bit data detection scheme using modified transmitted reference pulse cluster (M-TRPC) methods. To compare the two schemes, we have designed an IT-SRAKE receiver and a MTRPC receiver using an IEEE 802.15.4a physical layer. Simulation results show the performance of IT-SRAKE is better than that of the M-TRPC by 3-9 dB.

  • Recently, electrical resistivity surveys have been used to obtain information related to underground structures including burial structure type and depth. However, various field conditions hinder understanding measured electrical resistance, and thus there is a need to understand how various geometries affect electrical resistance. This study explores the effect of geometric parameters of a structure and electrodes on electrical resistance in the framework of the finite element method. First, an electrical resistance module is developed using the generalized mesh modeling technique, and the accuracy of the module is verified by comparing the results with the analytical solution for a cylindrical electrode with conical tip. Then, 387 cases of numerical analysis including geometric parameters of a buried structure and electrodes are conducted to quantitatively estimate the detection depth under a steady-state current condition. The results show that electrical resistance is increased as (1) shallower burial depth of structure, (2) closer distance between ground electrode and structure, (3) longer horizontal electrode distance. In addition, the maximum detection depth corresponding to converged electrical resistance is deeper as (4) closer distance between ground electrode and structure, (5) shorter horizontal electrode distance. The distribution of the electric potential around the electrodes and underground structure is analyzed to provide a better understanding of the measured electrical resistance. As engineering purpose, the empirical equation is proposed to calculate maximum detection depth as first approximation.
