A Study on Electrical Accident of Distributing Cable Termination with Simulated Badness Construction (평가시공불량을 모의한 배전급 케이블 종단부의 전기적 사고 연구)

  • This paper introduces experimental investigates of an electrical accident of the distributing cable termination with simulated badness construction. We prepared two termination kites, one is built-up type, the other is heat contraction type. Also, we manufactured cable termination that have simulated defect by badness construction and measured their insulation characteristics such as ac (35kV, 1min) and impulse (95kV, $1.2{\times}50{\mu}s$) withstand test. The influence of defects such as thickness and the gap between stress-con of housing and semi-conductor on insulating properties of the termination have been studied. The thickness decrease of insulator decreases ac breakdown strength. Dielectric breakdown traces of insulator that is damaged by knife displayed other shape. The gap of between housing and semiconductor deteriorates dielectric strength of insulator seriously.

  • This paper introduces experimental investigates of an accident pattern for the distributing XLPE cable terminations considering PL law environment. The influence of defects such as thickness and length decrease of XLPE, the impurity on XLPE and the gap between stress-con of housing and semi-conductor on insulating properties of the termination have been studied.   • The occurrence frequency of lightning and surge from the weather accident is increasing recently, which the damage scale have been enlarged every year. A protection system development to solve these problems have been risen to a multinational concern field. In this paper, a novel protection system is proposed to restrain lightning and various surges which happen in electricity and communication equipment. The proposed protection system is designed to the structure to restrain the rise of the earth potential which is become to the problem of conventional protection system. The secondary damage as a result does not happen. The practicality of the developed surge protection system is proved through various accident occurrence simulator.

  • Compared with other transport means, safety and timeliness are the merits of railways. Unexpectedly when accident happens, much time and human strength are required to cope with the accident. And for swift recovery, systematic rehabilitation is needed. Recently using MTS(Moving picture Transmission System), we can perform accident rehabilitation and recording work efficiently. MTS is the device that transmits continuous picture information from accident field to control center. We are developing the appropriate system to railway situation to make use of the existing information communication technology, processing technology of video-tex, super high speed transmission technology through fiber-optic, copper cable and network description of information Technology, etc. If these communication-based can technologies are applied to railway system, railway managers can control the accident by inspecting the picture of accident field and can contribute to the safe train operation and the improvement of railway management. In this paper, we investigate the connecting methods when optical fiber is used for moving picture data transmission of train accidents, and its problems. And, we validate MTS's performance through about 28km section of field test.

  • This paper divides the factors of an accident into two parts, that are electrical deterioration and thermal deterioration, to analyze a characteristic of the factor of an accident which can break out in the capacitor of metal vaporized polypropylene film. For the purpose of creating capacitor which is caused by electric deterioration, we applied DC overvoltage, induced self-healing and breakdown from element. We applied gradual heat to get an element which is cause by thermal deterioration. The chemical structure of the shape and surface is analyzed by thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FT-IR). As a result, the peak of methylene group came out, in case of electrical deterioration, as observing the self-healing point. However, the peak is disappeared in the heat treated element by 500[$^{\circ}C$], and the peak of carbonyl group which has C=O came out in case of thermal deterioration.

  • In the year 2002, 11,202 cases of electrical fires caused 462 casualties and about 58 billion won of physical damages. The electrical accidents alone caused victimized 854 people, including 87 deaths. at present, no detailed statistics about electrical fires is available. Also, there is no statistics about electric shocks and electrical equipment accidents. the electrical accidents are on the increase, proportional to the increase of electrical use. Therefore, a statistical analysis of electrical accidents is required to understand the situation and take measures to prevent similar accidents.

  • In the past most major accidents resulted in death, but today there is a dramatic increase in the number of people who survive such accidents but who are left with permanent injury. Particularly, children who are inquisitive about their surroundings but immature in their ability to assess danger, are more vulnerable to accidents and their causes as well as to determine attitudes towards prevention. The main objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of using an accident prevention manual for accident for accident prevention education. The study was a quasi-experimental study using a questionnaire format. The subjects of the study were 393 mothers of children attending six day care centers in Seoul. Data collection was done between May 1 and June 15, 1997. The tools used for the study were a questionnaire developed the researchers and a manual for accident prevention. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS. The results of the study are as follows: 1. Types of accidents included stabbing, bums, falls from heights, choking, falls on slippery surfaces, traffic accidents, drowning, poisoning, and electrical shock in that order of frequency. 2. The main causes of accidents in children were from cosmetics and household medications. 3. The most frequent locations of accidents in the home were the bathroom, kitchen, and stairways in that order. 4. For $90.4\%$ of children safety seats were not used when the ridding in a car. 5. In examining the parents' accident prevention practices, it was found that many parents used only . one electrical outlet for many appliances, tending to overload the electricity lines and that they were not practically concerned bout the flammability of children's pajamas, indicating a less than positive attitude towards fire prevention. 6. The parents had not provided their children with any instruction on accident prevention or on what to do after an accident had occurred. 7. After the use of pamphlet in an accident prevention education program, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the degree to which children carried out safety measures (t=14.96, p=.000) and in their safety habits (t=-1.67, p<.1) indicating an effectiveness in this method of education. The results of this study showed that there are many things in a child's environment that can cause accidents and that the possibility of an accident occurring is high. So nurses looking after children should be aware of the need for safety education to prevent accidents in the home and plan to provide appropriate educational material to help parents with this education.

  • The level crossing collision accident which comprises more than 90 percent of all level crossing accidents is one of the most serious safety problems. There is a critical need for providing safe strategy and is focusing on the level crossing information rather than measures at a grade crossing. This study is intended to develop technology for accident prevention and damage reduction based on accident cases analysis result and improvement direction to complement shortcomings of safety equipment of conventional level crossing and to establish safety of travelers(train, motor vehicle, person).

  • Regarding the characteristics of fatal electric shock accident during the past 10 years, fatalities occurred more frequently in July & August, and AM 10-12 PM & 14-16. Also, the electric shock accident is occurred more frequently in the age group from 30 to 40. Especially, the fatal electric shock accident in construction industry covered more than half of total industry. Therefore, it is strongly requested for the protection technology of an electric shock from the low voltage electric path, grounding method and workers. The aim of this study is to propose the policy about the equipment performance standards and/or worker's safety standards to revise the standards for preventing electric shock accidents on safety workings.

  • CCTV network has been implemented to transmit the image information of platform, ticket gate and transfer section to local headquarters in the KNR(Korean National Railroad). But, communication system for transferring image information around accident field or wayside has not been established yet. thus, at present implementation of communication equipment is necessary for dynamic image of unspecified accident to be transmitted to headquarters. Copper cable communication network is run by KNR, but it is processing installation of optical cable in connection with the implemental plan for high-speed network from now on. And, the capacity of communication channel will be guaranteed much more than now between station and station, station and central headquarters when optical cable is completed. This study analyzes the image equipment of field for transmission and estimated matters to transmit image information of accident field to headquarters with using communication infrastructure. And, the study considers implemental method of communication network for long-distance image transmission from dozens to hundreds kilometers.
