The development of electric vehicle power electronics system control, composed of DC-AC inverters and DC-DC converters, attract much research interest in the modern industry. A DC-AC inverter supplies the high-power motor torques of the propulsion system and utility loads of electric vehicles, whereas a DC-DC converter supplies the conventional low-power and low-voltage loads. However, the need for high-power bidirectional DC-DC converters in future electric vehicles has led to the development of many new topologies of DC-DC converters. The nonlinear control of power converters is an active research area in the field of power electronics. This paper focuses on the use of the fuzzy sliding mode strategy as a control strategy for buck-boost DC-DC converter power supplies in electric vehicles. The proposed fuzzy controller specifies changes in control signals based on the surface and knowledge on surface changes to satisfy the sliding mode stability and attraction conditions. The performance of the proposed fuzzy sliding controller is compared to that of the classical sliding mode controller. The satisfactory simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed control law, which reduces the chattering phenomenon. Moreover, the obtained results prove the robustness of the proposed control law against variations in load resistance and input voltage in the studied converter.
A small hall thruster with a thrust of about 10 mN and a specific impulse of about 1500 s is being developed with an intent to control or maintain the orbits of small satellites. The total mass, consumed electric power and efficiency of the thruster are approximately 10 kg, 300W and 30%, respectively. The thruster system consists of a hall thruster with a cylindrical cross section, a power processing unit and a Xenon(Xe) gas feed system. Laboratory examination of the thruster performance finds that the thruster meets the design specification.
This paper describes the full load test results of IGBT VVVF inverter for the railway propulsion system. The 1,650kVA IGBT VVVF inverter has been developed. Therefore, the field test is performed in SMG 6 Line to confirm its the reliability and performance. The train consists of 4M4T(4 Motor car 4 Trailer Car) and the electrical equipment for field test are as follows VVVF inverter 4 sets, 16 traction motors and 2 SIVs. The propulsion system is composed with IC4M(1-Controller 4-Motors). The results of propulsion system which have the excellent acceleration/deceleration and the jerk characteristics as well as starting ability on slope are taken through the field test.
Environmental regulations are becoming more stringent in response to climate change, especially concerning marine pollution caused by ship emissions. Large ships are adjusting by integrating technologies to reduce pollutant emissions and transitioning to eco-friendly fuels such as low-sulfur oil and LNG. However, small ships face space constraints for installing LNG propulsion systems and the risk of power depletion with pure electric propulsion. Consequently, there's growing interest in researching hybrid propulsion methods that combine electricity and diesel for smaller vessels. Hybrid propulsion systems utilize diverse energy sources, requiring an effective method for evaluating their efficiency. This study proposes employing Bond graph modeling to comprehensively analyze energy dynamics within hybrid propulsion systems, facilitating better understanding and optimization of their efficiency. Modeling of the ship's energy system using Bond graphs will be able to provide a framework for integrating various energy sources and evaluating their effects.

The Design criteria of the auxiliary resonant snubber inverter (ARSI) using a load-side circuit are discussed in relation to electric propulsion drives. In this regard, this paper attempts to develop a set of design criteria for the ARSI. First, the switching characteristics of IGBTs under soft-switching mainly in terms of dv/dt/, di/dt and switching losses are discussed and utilized for optimizing the selection of the resonant components in the system. After that, the proper control strategies of ARSIs are analyzed and simulated based on voltage space vector modulations. Later, the design, control and implementation of the auxiliary resonant circuit suitable for industrial products are analyzed and presented. And finally, other factors including power stage layout, packaging and the choice of current sensors are included. The detailed simulation and experimental results will be included based on a laboratory prototype. The proposed design criteria of the ARSI would help the implementation of an electric propulsion drive system.
