A Study on Development for MRT Type Eco-Friendly Electric Multi-Inspection Car (도시철도형 친환경 전동식 통합점검차 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation - which is operating the subway lines No. 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Seoul's subway - has been operating a variety of motor cars and rail inspection vehicles to transport workers and materials into the tunnel at night after the daily revenue service for the maintenance of tunnel structure and track. However, the air quality in tunnels has been contaminated due to the operation of diesel engine cars, and rail inspection vehicles are now having higher chances of risks since the lightweight vehicles made with aluminum bogie became too obsolete. In this study, MRT type eco-friendly electric multi-inspection car has been elaborated for the purpose of improvement of tunnel environment and replacement of motor cars and rail inspection vehicles.

  • The indoor PMV(Predicted Mean Vote) in rolling stock is very important for the enhancement of the amenity and health of passengers. Many researchers have studied it not for train but for building. Thermal comfort in Rolling Stock is function of temperature, relative humidity, air current, radiation temperature, etc. So, in this study, we have performed thermal environment in rolling stock(Electric motor car, Saemaeul, Mugunghwa train), and verified the relation between the PMV from Nov.2007 and Feb.2008. As a result, the average PMV value for each trains are 0.2, -0.3 Electric motor car, 0.5, 0.1, 0.1, 1.1 for Mugunghwa, 0.3, 0.5 for Saemaeul.

Heat Release Rate Comparison of Electric motor car's Interior panels (국내 전동차 내장판 발열량 비교)

  • Experimental comparison was done for measuring Heat Release Rate and Smoke Production Rate of electric motor car's interior panels using cone calorimeter. Radiative heat flux of $50kW/m^2$ was used to simulate the condition of fully developed fire case in the tests. It was observed that Heat Release Rate and Smoke Production Rate curves were shown differently according to interior materials. From experiment's results we can deduce that materials having higher rate of heat release smolder more smoke. It needs to establish fire risk propensity of each material and to set up the standards urgently.

  • This paper validates new type electric power steering (EPS) system which is driven by a uni-direction rotational motor and two electromagnetic clutches. The assist motor of the new type EPS produces a torque for assisting the steering in only one direction and two electromagnetic clutches transmit the assist torque to the pinion gear in either left or right direction with respect to the steering rotation. In order to evaluate the static and dynamic characteristics of the new type EPS, the EPS has been modeled by using the well known customized software such as MSC.ADAMS and MSC.CarSim. The ADAMS software has been used to investigate the static characteristics of the proposed system. ADAMS, however, can not describe dynamics of a vehicle and perform the simulation under the various road conditions. Thus the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle including the EPS are analyzed very well by using the CarSim software. A sinusoidal steering input command is applied to the propose EPS system in order to evaluate the static characteristics, while the double lane changes are applied to the vehicle with the EPS in order to evaluate the dynamic performance. Through a series of simulations, we can conclude that the propose EPS shows the stable dynamic characteristics when the rotational direction is changed.

  • Recently with the motorizing of electric home appliances and car systems, there is increasing interest in high efficiency electric motors. Thus, the present study described the operating characteristics of coreless AFPM motor that is highly efficient in high speed driving, and discussed its electric characteristics from the perspective of design. In particular, we examined back electromotive force and the magnetic field characteristic in slits, which have significant effects on the characteristic of the motor, and conducted simulation and experiment on control characteristic according to inductance characteristic. This study analyzed torque speed and efficient operation characteristic as well as control characteristic through comparing the result of motor design with the result of output characteristic experiment based on the electric network method. Furthermore, we evaluated vibration and noise that may occur due to the absence of core.

  • Although insulation equipment is installed, it is inevitable to avoid the stray current because rail is the return way of the direct current that is power of electric motor car. In this paper, by the investigation of the present state of underground facilities, and looking into the reason of electric corrosion, and analysis of corrosion accident cases of inside and outside of the country, fundamental data, to reduce of stray current and to prevent electric corrosion, were accumulated to enhance the safety of railway operation service.

  • As a development of technology, electric power steering system which uses an electric motor came to use in recent and it can solve the problems with hydraulic power steering system. In this paper, vehicle model and electric power steering system are combined to fulfill full vehicle model. By simulation effect of motor torque assist through electric power steering revealed effective, and full vehicle model are proved reasonable through comparison with real car experimental datum.

  • Challenges the automotive industry as the increase in consumption of oil and energy, $CO_2$ emissions of global warming, caused by exhaust emissions and urban air pollution, it is time for a deal is needed. The solution of these highly regarded in the market as there is a demand of electric cars. In this study, electric car motor, battery and high-voltage core components, including the drive motor of the effective thermal management technologies, thermal management of the battery and the drive motor to evaluate the technology and development trends.

A study about an old age car performance characteristic (노후차량 성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to investigate performance changes, the acceleration, vibration, and braking performance tests were carried out on the electric multiple units (EMUs) with over 20 years operation. According to the testing results, in vibration and braking performance, the similar performance results were obtained as compared with newly manufactured EMUs. However, in terms of acceleration performance, below reference value (3.0 km/h/s) has been obtained. This is mainly due to performance deterioration including traction motor. The precision diagnosis evaluation of deteriorated EMUs will be provided through the overall evaluation of corrosion testing and structural performance of car body.
