노인복지관의 정보화 교육만족도가 노인의 정보활용 및 생활만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Informatization Education Satisfaction of Elderly Welfare Center on Elderly Information Usage and Life Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 노인복지관의 정보화 교육만족도가 노인의 정보활용만족도 및 생활만족도에 미치는 영향에 관하여 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 2015년 09월 02일부터 09월 24일까지 서울 및 수도권의 노인복지관에 등록하여 활동하고 있는 노인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 노인의 정보인지 영역의 향상에 있어서는 정보화 교육만족도의 교육내용, 교육강사, 교육환경의 요인이 중요함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 노인의 정보경험 영역의 향상에 있어서는 정보화 교육만족도의 교육내용, 교육방법, 교육강사, 교육환경의 요인이 중요한 요인임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 노인의 개인요인 만족도 향상에 있어서는 정보화 교육만족도의 교육내용, 교육강사의 요인이 중요한 요인임을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통하여 노인의 정보활용만족 및 생활만족도를 함양하기 위해서는 노인의 정보화 교육만족도의 함양이 중요하며 이를 위해서 노인복지관 등의 기관을 통하여 실시하고 있는 노인의 정보화 교육을 구성하는 하위요인의 점검이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

고령근로자의 작업환경, 사회경제적 상태가 건강수준에 미치는 영향: 비고령 근로자와의 비교를 중심으로 (Effects of Working Environment and Socioeconomic Status on Health Status in Elderly Workers: A Comparison with Non-Elderly Workers)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study were to compare working condition, socioeconomic status, and health status between elderly and non-elderly workers and to examine the influencing factors of health status according to age groups. Methods: This study is a secondary analysis of data extracted from the 2014 Korean Working Conditions Survey. For the present analysis, 15,980 elderly workers over the age of 55 and 32,037 non-elderly workers under the age of 55 were selected. Results: The prevalence of subjective unhealthy status and poor mental health were significantly higher among the elderly workers than the non-elderly workers. The elderly workers were more likely to have lower level of education and income than the non-elderly workers. They also reported less support from colleagues and managers, however, have more decision authority. Among the elderly workers, long working hours, awkward posture, physical environmental risks, quantitative demand, decision authority, social support, age discrimination, education level, and income level were significant predictors of subjective health status or mental health. Conclusion: For keeping elderly workers healthy and productive, work environment needs to become more age-friendly. An age-friendly workplace may include: accommodative support, workers' participation, minimization of environment risk, etc.

아동과 노인 간의 관계 향상을 위한 세대통합프로그랭에 관한 연구 - 세대간 상호작용활동을 중심으로 - (A Study on Intergenerational Program for Relationships Improvement between Children and the Elderly - on the Intergenerational Activities -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine whether the intergenerational program affected the children's perceptions on the elderly and aging. This study also investigated how the children evaluated the program. The study methods was one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 30 elementary school children from 1st to 3rd grade. The intergenerational program was composed of 6 activities: recreation activity for rapport, making a kite, gardening, learning old customs, education of traditional manner, and making rice-cakes. It was executed for two weeks. Data for children's perceptions on the elderly and aging were collected by the interview using questionnaire at pretest-posttest. The results of the qualitative data analysis showed that the children's perception on the elderly and aging changed more positively after the program. There were significant differences between pre- and post-test on the children's perceptions of aging and intellectual aspects of the elderly. Most of the children evaluated the program very positively.

  • Korean society is changing into aged society with the speed which has never happened by other countries before. This has been the consequence of low birthrate and Increase in life expectancy. However, such social problem result in many studies on elderly environment. The purpose of this study is to systematically analyze empirical studies on elderly environment in Korea, find out research streaming and understand social backgrounds. For this study, content analysis was conducted. Articles of 4 registered academic institute published from 1986 to 2005 were units of analysis. Using keyword through library database systems, the articles were systematically selected. As results, trends of research according to 4 periods were identified. Among them as major trends, expansion of the quantity, expansion to Intoner design, more facilities for dependent elderly appeared. This result showed implications on interior design education and research for aging friendly design.

고령층 정보화 교육 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Information Education for the Elderly)

  • The ability to use and utilize information technology devices in the knowledge-based society shows many differences in terms of quality of life. However, in the case of the elderly, the elderly suffer difficulties in acquiring information technology due to their aging characteristics, so they can not easily adapt to rapidly changing societies. Therefore, it is becoming more and more important to educate the elderly who are trying to adapt to the new environment of knowledge-based society. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the previous researches of the researchers related to the elderly informatization education and the report of the actual situation of the digital divide of the government, and identified the problems and suggested ways to activate the effective education for the aged. The following suggestions are made to activate information education. First, there is a need for systematic promotion and professional counseling on the need for information education for the elderly learners. Second, the development of various curriculum that can be used in real life. Third, development of customized learning materials. etc. Fourth, Obtain a professional lecturer for the elderly. It is limited to lecturers who have completed teaching and learning methods that reflect the characteristics of the elderly. Fifth, the introduction of qualification certification system that can measure the level of informatization of the elderly learners. Sixth, building e-learning system for elderly people. Seventh, to establish a new organization dedicated solely to information education for the elderly. When these parts are realized, it will help elderly people to improve their quality of life through alleviation of solitude and alienation.

Informal Support as an Influential Factor in Elderly Women′s Health: The Importance of Same-Sex Friendship in US

  • It is known that the role of informal support for elderly women is critical to their physical and mental health, adjustment in old age, and their overall life satisfaction. Elderly women's situation such as social losses, widowhood, living alone, and geographic relocation etc. may result in a need for more informal supports for elderly women's health than ever before. Particularly, women's same-sex friendships were rated higher for overall quality, intimacy, enjoyment, and nurturance. Unlike a generally accepted notion that later life for women is a time of isolation and loneliness, elderly women tend to maintain and reestablish their friendship regardless their marital status and living situation. Although studies on informal support for elderly women were inconclusive in many ways, elderly women's friendship tends to be stable despite of changing health status and life events. The relative importance between daughters and friends was also controversial. This study suggests that more research with reliable measurements is necessary for the practical prevention and intervention program of elderly women's health on this issue.

농촌노인을 위한 노-노 돌봄 교육프로그램의 평가 (Evaluation of the Elderly Care Program for Seniors in Rural Areas)

  • This study aimed to develop the elderly care program for seniors in rural areas and to evaluate its efficacy through pre- and post-tests. For them, this study carried out a total of 8 sessions that includes 4 aims, such as understanding rural elderly, volunteer activities, psychological help, and aids to daily living, on 36 persons over the age of 60 years in rural areas. The data was analyzed by paired t-test to 36 elderly. The results of the study are as follows. First, looking at changes in knowledge about aging, objective evaluation of knowledge showed significant differences (t=-2.22, p<.05), but evaluation of elderly's perception-change didn't show significant differences between before and after. Second, volunteer attitude didn't show significant differences between before and after, but after the training, 75% of them answered 'yes' to question that asked whether they'd like to participate in elderly's volunteer caring activity for other elderly within the town in the future, which gave us certain expectation that the attitude towards volunteer activities might change positively in the future. Third, objective evaluation of knowledge for psychological help didn't show significant differences between before and after. But elderly's subjective perception showed significant differences (t=-2.82, p<.01). Fourth, evaluating changes in knowledge for elderly's aiding daily life, both the objective evaluation and subjective evaluation didn't show significant differences between before and after. Fifth, satisfaction of the program showed high scores over 4 points: contents, education methods, education place, education time. The most helpful topics for them were counseling (27.8%) and dementia (27.8%), followed by elderly and aging (16.7%), elderly's residential environment (13.9%), elderly's dietary life (9.3%) and volunteer activities (5.6%).

일본의 사례조사를 통한 초등학교와 재가노인복지시설의 복합화 시 공간계획에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Space Plan for Complex of Elementary School and Elderly Welfare Facilities by Case Study in Japan)

  • As a result of rapid aging speed in our society, many problems related to elderly people have happened in many parts of our society. Among them, supply for elderly facilities is one of the biggest problems. In downtown areas, despit of the high demand for elderly facilities, there is not enough supplement of them due to the lack of real estates. Considering the situations above, this study proposes multi generation complex which combining the school and elderly welfare facility. This combination not only brings financial benefits but also has positive effects on cultural exchanges between generations.

노인의 자녀와의 상호간 지원 교환이 성공적인 노후생활에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of the Mutually Supportive Relationship with their Children on the Successful Lives of the Elderly)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine demographic characteristics, psychological characteristics and patterns of supportive relationships with their children that affect the successful lives of the elderly. A survey was conducted of 410 people aged between 65 and 85, and 405 samples were used for the analysis. First, the supportive relation between the elderly and their children was categorized into four groups depending on the total amount and direction of support. The four groups consisted of the elderly who exchanged little or no support, those who only received support from their children, those who only gave support, and those who both gave and received support. Second, the more the elderly exchanged support and gave emotional support to their children, the better the chance that the elderly would lead a successful life in later years. Third, subjective health conditions most significantly affected the successful lives of the elderly who exchanged little or no support. The level of education was most significant for the elderly who only received support. The level of housing satisfaction mostly affected the elderly who only gave support. Mutual support primarily affected the elderly who both gave and received. Thus, we should provide health programs for the elderly who exchange little or no support to encourage a healthier lifestyle. In addition, opportunities for continuing education should be provided for the elderly who only receive support to make up any deficiency in education. Because spouses are mostly affected for those elderly who exchange little or no support and the elderly who only receive support, we should provide educational programs about how to be better lifetime companions to each other and also provide medical and in-home care for the remaining spouse even after the other partner is gone. Because housing satisfaction greatly affects the elderly who only give support, improvements in the residential environment are essential. Since the level of mutual support is crucial to the elderly who both give and receive support, programs on the development of human resources are needed for the elderly to interact dynamically and intimately with their children.

고령 사회에서 자립적인 노후생활 준비교육을 위한 중등 가정교육의 역할 (The Role of Secondary Home Economics Education to Prepare the Elderly for an Independent Life in an Aged Society)

  • This paper aims to explore the role of the home economics subject in helping high school students preparing for an independent aged life and to develop problem based teaching plans toward this goal. Contents related to the elderly in the high school home economics and technology 2007 and 2009 revised curricula were analyzed, and elderly-related contents in other subject areas (the 2009 revised curricula of ethics, public health, and social studies) were also comparatively analyzed to determine the identity of the home economics subject in relation to preparation for independent aging. Based on these analysis, five subjects and teaching plans were presented: the aging society and population changes, the characteristics of the elderly, individual preparation for aging, care of the elderly, and welfare services for the elderly. The ultimate objectives of the lessons were, through critical reasoning, to inquire into the causes of current problems the elderly face so that teenagers can understand aging societies and the elderly and to seek reasonable alternatives for teenagers as they prepare for successful and independent aging, increasing their problem-solving abilities in choosing the best course of action by considering the ripple effect of consequences of each of those alternatives. Suggestions on what direction elderly-related education should take in the future, and what roles teachers should take are also provided.
