This study was performed to analyze the mechanical properties of tropical hybrid cross-laminated timber (CLT) with bamboo laminated board as the core layer in order to evaluate the possibility of its use as a CLT material. Bamboo board was used as the core layer and the tropical species Acacia mangium willd., from Indonesia, was used as the lamination in the outer layer. The modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR), and shear strength of the hybrid CLT were measured according to APA PRG 320-2018 Standard for Performance-Rated Cross-Laminated Timber. The results show that the bending MOE of the hybrid CLT was found to be 2.76 times higher than SPF (Spruce Pine Fir) CLT. The reason why the high MOE value was shown in bamboo board and hybrid CLT applied bamboo board is because of high elasticity of bamboo fiber. However, the shear strength of the hybrid CLT was 0.8 times lower than shear strength of SPF CLT.

This research describe improved algorithm that is able to decide terminal criterion of Evolutionary Structural Optimization (ESO), reducing load of calculation to search load path of concrete beam, and apply to agricultural facilities. The ESO method is that make to discrete structure, structural analyze each element stress through FEM. And repeat generation with next material condition to become for most suitable composing. Individual element introduces concept of zero stiffness, but zero stiffness decisions are gone to direction of exclusion. In this stduy, improve algorithm to be convergence by 'Rule of Alive or Die' in arrival because is most suitable. Also, existing terminal criterion lack consistency because that used depend on experience of researcher. This research procedure is fellowed. First, all modulus of elasticity assume a half of elasticity modulus of material, Second, structural analysis by FEM, Third, apply to the remove ratio and restoration ratio for the 'rule of alive or die'. Forth, reconstruct the element and material conditions. And repeat the first to forth process. The terminal time of evolutional procedure is the all elastic modulus of element changed to blank value or elasticity modulus value of original. Therefore, in this study, consist the algorithm for programming, and apply to the agricultural facilities with concrete.
In this paper, an experimental study was conducted on the compressive behavior of steel tube confined concrete (STCC) and concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns with active and passive confinement. To create active confinement in the STCC and CFST specimens, an innovative method was used in this study, in which by applying pressure on the fresh concrete, the steel tube was laterally pretensioned and the concrete core was compressed simultaneously. Of the benefits of this technique are improving the composite column behavior, without the use of additives and without the need for vibration, and achieving high prestressing levels. To achieve lower and higher prestressing levels, short and long term pressures were applied to the specimens, respectively. Nineteen STCC and CFST specimens in three groups of passive, short-term active, and long-term active confinement were subjected to axial compression, and their mechanical properties including the compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and axial strain were evaluated. The results showed that the proposed method of prestressing the STCC columns led to a significant increase in the compressive strength (about 60%), initial modulus of elasticity (about 130%) as well as a significant reduction in the axial strain (about 45%). In the CFST columns, the prestressing led to a considerable increase in the compressive strength, a small effect on the initial and secant modulus of elasticity and an increase in the axial strain (about 55%). Moreover, increased prestressing levels negligibly affected the compressive strength of STCCs and CFSTs but slightly increased the elastic modulus of STCCs and significantly decreased that of CFSTs.
Over the years, most pavement designs based on soil strength and permanent strain are almost independent of soil elasticity. However, it was found that plasticity and elasticity of soil have both effected on the failure of pavement structures. The elasticity of soil, hence, using the resilient modulus is reflected for recent pavement design. Although the current AASHTO specifications(1986) for pavement design had changed the soil support value to the resilient modulus, triaxial devices conducting the resilient modulus test have not been fully equipped in a great majority of laboratories. Thus, in the present work, such a resilient modulus is usually derived(from CBR, K values, etc.) by estimating equations. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the resilient modulus of weathered granite soils sampled from 4 points of the central region of Korea by means of AASHTO T 274-82. According to this, some empirical equations for predicting that of the weathered granite soil are proposed and then, the relationship to convert CBR into the resilient modulus is developed.
This study examined true modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rigidity (G) for domestic woods with different slenderness ratios (L/D) using the static bending and stress wave tests. Bending properties of small clear wood specimen of three domestic wood species were determined at 12% moisture content. The results of this study indicated that both MOR and MOE of domestic woods were affected by the slenderness ratio. As the slenderness ratio increased, MOR and MOE increased. G and true MOE of domestic timber beams were obtained at different slenderness ratios by flexure test and stress wave test. The values reported here can be useful if these species woods are used for structural purposes. However, the reported values are only indicative and do not represent the true average of wood species due to the limited number of specimens tested.

The mechanical properties of concrete such as modulus of elasticity, bond strength and shear strength are proportional to square root of compressive strength. And compressive strength of concrete is developed rapidly at early ages. Thus the relationship between compressive strength and its mechanical properties should be verified because the mechanical properties of early age concrete and hardened concrete are different. In this study, to predict the concrete slab deflection at early ages, modulus of elasticity and effective moment of inertia(Ie) are observed and compared with experimental results.

The research significance of the paper is to identify the major properties of synthetic lightweight concrete that are affected by ASR expansion and to determine the extent and magnitude of the loss in these properties. Emphasis is also given to the use of non-destructive testing techniques ; Such as dynamic modulus of elasticity and ultrasonic pulse velocity, to examine whether these methods could be used to identify the initiation of expansion and the internal structural damage caused by ASR.
Uncertainty in concrete properties, including concrete modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture, are predicted by developing a microstructural homogenization model. The homogenization model is developed by analyzing a concrete representative volume element (RVE) using the finite element (FE) method. The concrete RVE considers concrete as a three phase composite material including: cement paste, aggregate and interfacial transition zone (ITZ). The homogenization model allows for considering two sources of variability in concrete, randomly dispersed aggregates in the concrete matrix and uncertain mechanical properties of composite phases of concrete. Using the proposed homogenization technique, the uncertainty in concrete modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture (described by numerical cumulative probability density function) are determined. Deflection uncertainty of reinforced concrete (RC) beams, propagated from uncertainties in concrete properties, is quantified using Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. Cracked plane frame analysis is used to account for tension stiffening in concrete. Concrete homogenization enables a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between concrete materials and structural modeling, which is necessary for realistic serviceability prediction.
The objective of this study is to estimate the mechanical behavior in bending and the anatomical changes of wood under several deflection rates. Sample specimens of water-saturated Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) were stressed to rupture under several deflection rates. Mechanical properties of wood such as modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture and stress at proportional limit, and anatomical changes affected by deflection rates were estimated. Microscopic observations on compression side of the test specimens when the specimen was loaded to rupture were carried out by the SEM (scanning electron microscopy). The results are summarized as follows: 1. The mechanical properties of wood were affected by variations of the deflection rates. The modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR) and stress at proportional limit were in proportion to the logarithm of deflection rates. 2. The deflection of wood at rupture in bending increased as deflection rates decreased. 3. The variations of the microscopic deformations of sample specimens were closely related to the deflection of wood at rupture. In case of largely deflected wood by maximum bending load, severe and abundant microscopic deformations were observed.
