Performance Evaluation of Smart Intersections for Emergency Response Time based on Integration of Geospatial and Incident Data

  • The major objective of this research is to evaluate performance of improved intersections for response time to emergency vehicle preemption. Smart technologies have been introduced to civil infrastructure systems for resilient communities. The technologies need to evaluate their effectiveness and feasibility to confirm their introduction. This research focuses on the performance of emergency vehicle preemption, represented by response time, when smart intersections are introduced in a community. The response time is determined by not only intersections but also a number of factors such as traffic, distance, road conditions, and incident types. However, the evaluation of emergency response has often ignored factors related to emergency vehicle routes. In this respect, this research synthetically analyzes geospatial and incident data using each route of emergency vehicle and conducts before-and-after evaluations. The changes in performance are analyzed by the impact of smart intersections on response time through Bayesian regression models. The result provides measures of the project's performance. This study will contribute to the body of knowledge on modeling the impacts of technology application and integrating heterogeneous data sets. It will provide a way to confirm and prove the effectiveness of introducing smart technologies to our communities.

  • 본 연구는 고속도로에 설치되어 있는 안내표지를 효과적으로 개선하는데 그 목적이 있다. 국내 고속도로에 설치되어 있는 안내표지는 지점중심 안내체계, 과도한 정보량, 출구번호 이용률 저조, 차로지정 안내의 미비에 따라 효율이 크게 떨어지고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 보완한 3개의 개선안을 제시하였고, 선호도 조사와 판독시간 검증을 통해 최적안을 선정하였다. 최적안은 기존표지에 비해 판독시간이 통계적으로 유의하게 단축된 것으로 분석되었다. 기존의 표지는 원거리에서는 출구에 대한 많은 정보를 전달하는데 비해, 근거리에서 오히려 적은 정보를 전달하고 있는데 비해, 개선 표지는 원거리에서는 개략적인 정보를, 근거리에서는 보다 상세한 정보를 제공한다. 0m 지점에서는 운전자가 목적지에 따른 노선을 효과적으로 선택할 수 있도록 차로지정 표지를 문형식으로 설치하여 안내하도록 하였다.

  • 원격교육은 교수와 학생간의 강의 및 학습, 평가를 위한 시험의 시행이 원격으로 이루어지게 된다. 현재의 연구동향은 주로 원격 강의 서비스에 초점이 맞춰져 있을 뿐 이다. 교육의 효과를 평가하기 위한 기능 중 시험은 강의만큼 중요한 기능이지만 현재까지는 많은 연구가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 원격시험 응시자를 I-PIN에 의한 설명확인을 하고, 강의 평가시 학생들의 수강신청서 사진과 PC 카메라로 촬영한 사진을 비교, 분석하여 시험이 공정하게 이루어지도록 DEIS(원격교육 시험감독 시스템)를 제시하고자한다. DEIS는 응시자 PC에서 촬영한 정지영상이 서버에 저장되면서 소프트웨어가 수강 신청 시 등록한 사진과 비교하여 90%이상이 일치하면 본인으로 확인하게 된다.

Visual SLAM을 통해 획득한 공간 지도의 완성도 평가 시스템 (An Evaluation System to Determine the Completeness of a Space Map Obtained by Visual SLAM)

  • This paper presents an evaluation system to determine the completeness of a space map obtained by a visual SLAM(Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) algorithm. The proposed system consists of three parts. First, the proposed system detects the occurrence of loop closing to confirm that users acquired the information from all directions. Thereafter, the acquired map is divided with regular intervals and is verified whether each area has enough map points to successfully estimate users' position. Finally, to check the effectiveness of each map point, the system checks whether the map points are identifiable even at the location where there is a large distance difference from the acquisition position. Experimental results show that space maps whose completeness is proven by the proposed system has higher stability and accuracy in terms of position estimation than other maps that are not proven.

학교강당의 평면적 특징에 따른 대피효율에 관한 연구 (Evacuation Efficiency on School Auditorium Floor Layout)

  • This study compared evacuation effectiveness between the conventional school auditorium plan and a suggested hypothetical plan that was generated by a mathematical model, which is commonly applied in the field of industrial engineering. Recent school buildings became much more complicated in floor planning due to new social needs and modern curriculum than the old days. Nevertheless, architect's approach to floor composition in terms of fire emergency evacuation planning, still has no relation to optimized effective but relies more on an conventional school planning. Therefore, since school buildings are much more likely to be exposed to any fire related events than any other building types, emergency exit effectiveness based on spatial composition has to be seriously evaluated with a scientific method. The algorithm, which acquires the number of persons in each spatial type(node) per floor and the minimum physical distance between spatial types(arc), can propose the most optimized spatial layout per floor regarding emergency evacuation event. Consequently, this study evaluated school's fire exit effectiveness focusing on auditorium area with the scientific tool and suggested the most reliable spatial layout regarding possibile emergency evacuation event.

가격 및 인지도가 화장품 평가에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Price and Brand Names on the Evaluation of Cosmetics)

  • 본 논문은 가격과 인지도가 소비자의 화장품 평가에 실제로 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구이다. 주로 서울 및 수도권 지역에 거주하는 20 대에서 50 대 사이의 여성을 대상으로 설문지에 대한 설명과 시제품에 대한 가격과 인지도 정보를 각각 다르게 제공한 후 일주일 이상의 사용 기간을 주고 설문을 회수하여 총 363 명의 응답을 받았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 할 수 있다. 화장수, 로션에 대한 사용 평가는 인지도 변인이 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으나, 크림에 대한 사용평가에서는 '향'에 관한 질문에 대해 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 가격 변인에 있어 화장수, 로션, 크림에 대한 평가는 가격이 매우 비싼 제품이라는 사전 정보를 받은 집단이 저가 제품이란 사전정보를 받은 집단에 비해 통계적으로 유의하게 점수가 높았다. 인지도와 가격 변화에 따라 집단 간 만족도를 비교해 본 결과 가격 정보나 인지도 정보가 어떻게 주어지는가에 따라 만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 화장품의 효능평가에 있어서도 인지도와 가격에 모두 의미있게 작용한다. 효능평가에 있어서는 가격과 인지도 변인의 상호작용 효과가 존재했는데, 두 변수의 결합효과가 효능지각에 대해 미치는 영향이 각각 다르다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 소비자 행동이나 의사결정에 대한 이해와 더불어 마케팅 전략을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Simulation analysis and evaluation of decontamination effect of different abrasive jet process parameters on radioactively contaminated metal

  • A new method of numerical simulating prediction and decontamination effect evaluation for abrasive jet decontamination to radioactively contaminated metal is proposed. Based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Model (CFD-DEM) coupled simulation model, the motion patterns and distribution of abrasives can be predicted, and the decontamination effect can be evaluated by image processing and recognition technology. The impact of three key parameters (impact distance, inlet pressure, abrasive mass flow rate) on the decontamination effect is revealed. Moreover, here are experiments of reliability verification to decontamination effect and numerical simulation methods that has been conducted. The results show that: 60Co and other homogeneous solid solution radioactive pollutants can be removed by abrasive jet, and the average removal rate of Co exceeds 80%. It is reliable for the proposed numerical simulation and evaluation method because of the well goodness of fit between predicted value and actual values: The predicted values and actual values of the abrasive distribution diameter are Ф57 and Ф55; the total coverage rate is 26.42% and 23.50%; the average impact velocity is 81.73 m/s and 78.00 m/s. Further analysis shows that the impact distance has a significant impact on the distribution of abrasive particles on the target surface, the coverage rate of the core area increases at first, and then decreases with the increase of the impact distance of the nozzle, which reach a maximum of 14.44% at 300 mm. It is recommended to set the impact distance around 300 mm, because at this time the core area coverage of the abrasive is the largest and the impact velocity is stable at the highest speed of 81.94 m/s. The impact of the nozzle inlet pressure on the decontamination effect mainly affects the impact kinetic energy of the abrasive and has little impact on the distribution. The greater the inlet pressure, the greater the impact kinetic energy, and the stronger the decontamination ability of the abrasive. But in return, the energy consumption is higher, too. For the decontamination of radioactively contaminated metals, it is recommended to set the inlet pressure of the nozzle at around 0.6 MPa. Because most of the Co elements can be removed under this pressure. Increasing the mass and flow of abrasives appropriately can enhance the decontamination effectiveness. The total mass of abrasives per unit decontamination area is suggested to be 50 g because the core area coverage rate of the abrasive is relatively large under this condition; and the nozzle wear extent is acceptable.

PGA 선수의 경기능력이 평균타수에 미치는 영향력 (Effectiveness of golf skills to average score in PGA)

  • 이 연구는 미국남자프로골프협회 (PGA)가 제공하는 경기기록을 통해 경기능력이 평균타수에 미치는 영향을 경로분석에 의해 규명하였다. 즉 PGA 선수의 경기능력을 나타내는 6개의 변인(드라이브 정확도, 드라이버 거리, 그린 적중률, 샌드세이브, 스크램블링율, 평균퍼팅수)이 평균타수에 미치는 영향을 (1) 드라이버 정확도, 드라이버 거리, 그린적중률이 버디평균과 평균타수에 주는 영향과 (2) 샌드세이브, 스크램블링, 평균퍼팅수이 보기평균과 평균타수에 미치는 영향으로 가정하여 분석하였다. 이러한 목적에 따른 연구결과는 첫째, 드라이브 정확도가 버디평균에 미치지 못하였으며 그린적중률과 드라이브 거리가 직접적으로 평균타수에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 샌드세이브율, 스크램블링율, 평균퍼팅이 보기평균에 유의한 영향을 미치며 평균퍼팅이 평균타수에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 그린적중률, 드라이브거리, 샌드세이브율, 스크램블링율이 평균타수에 영향을 미치면서 상대적으로 스크램블링율이 가장 높게, 샌드세이브율이 가장 낮게 나타났다.

저압직류 배전계통의 구성 형태를 고려한 공급신뢰도 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reliability Analysis in LVDC Distribution System Considering Layout)

  • At the end of the 19th century, Edison's DC power system and Tesla's AC power system was debated in power market. Finally, AC system became the primary system of the power market because both step-up and step-down of voltage by using transformer and long-distance power transmission are easily possible. However, nowadays the power market takes some action for introducing DC system. Both domestic and foreign researchers are conducting the study on the DC system as well. Some researchers have conducted the studies on power quality and economic evaluation of the DC distribution system but DC distribution system is still controversial in terms of the effectiveness and reliability. In this paper, we calculate the reliability indices of the Low Voltage Direct Current(LVDC) distribution system considering arrangement of power electronics, layout of the distribution system, and distance between load points.
